This month marks 8 years I have been playing Wurm. I thought I would celebrate by writing an Ode to my favorite MMO. I hope you all enjoy reading it.

it's an acronym standing for Wurm Users Risk Madness. just kidding. It's actually Swedish for "eye patch made of lemon slice."

It's the nature of the animation that bugs me, I don't mind a visible difference between occupied and unoccupied, but these bees, when they aren't making honey and wax seem to be conducting experiments in bending spacetime. Perhaps beds should have a paranormal animation so we know when they are occupied too.

The ability to build high iron fence gates within arches was removed quite a white ago as the top fence ends protrude a bit into the arch. Please please please let us live with this minor inconvenience, those gates are looking really awesome within the arches.

Aside from PvP, where cooking actually has become part of the meta, Wurm is not a competition. So your sleep bonus use is less efficient that mine, because you'd rather complain about the cooking system than participate; so what? Who cares if someone gains more skill than someone else? Yes, fine, you could sell your char for more if you were more efficient levelling it up, but honestly, who plays for the sole purpose of making a saleable character? You could use the same time to stack shelves in your local megamart and end up with more money for the same time investment. Once again, if you choose to opt out of the cooking system, and carry on as you always have done before 1.3, you can do that, and have everything work for you just the same as it always has. If you're really so jealous of all the other kids getting better value out of their stamina and sleep bonus, then come play that part of the game. Or pay someone else to do it for you (there seem to be enough people around selling ready-made meals). The cooking system isn't badly implemented, and it's not annoying. Except to you, apparently. That suggests the problem isn't with the system.

A setting on the server where you choose the player base like 1 / 2-5 / 5-10 / 10-25 / 25+ and it sets unique difficulty etc accordingly. Or if you want, more in-depth settings where you can tweak everything individually.

Rice should be allowed for baking in the same way any other grain is, i think.

An extra, craftable settlement token where banking can be done and money deposited or withdrawn into the settlement coffers. The real settlement token has all the normal requirements and restrictions and is the true heart of the settlement still. A simple visual distinction could be made by having it be a sundial on a short block instead of a medium pillar. The intention is that it could be placed underground for the dwarves among us, in temples so priests can deposit their spare change and anywhere else creative people come up with. Most likely Freedom only, since this would probably badly mess how fortresses are designed.

Confusing the sickle tool with the sickle sword type, such as an Egyptian khopesh: This was actually both a slashing and piercing/thrusting weapon. One possible use of the "hooks" was to forcibly move a shield out of the way while still being able to attack in one motion. The tool is fine as is; though, always for adding more weapons.

This isnt broken, for all intent and purpose it works as intended, the discussion here isn't that it is a broken mechanic, it's that it does not mesh well with your playstyle and could be improved.

Feels rather presumptuous, im not sure ive seen any dev comment that it is broken to begin with, seems like that needs to happen before requesting to know when a 'fix' is coming.

Dang, I thought it was lignonberries and lutefisk, I see I need to brush up on my Swedish. (Not sure lemons are really native to Sweden anyhow .. I always figured Sweden was the Braavos of this world -- and every schoolchild knows there are no lemon trees in Braavos!! I always thought "Wurm" was supposed to sound like a medieval era dragon, though I have since heard it is the actual name of the planet. Or maybe as Klaa, tells us in that thread, it is ... A GREAT THING. Something evil that threatens from Valrei but has never yet been actually seen ingame. And, possibly related to the "lost puppet conversations" and some great evil that Libila set loose or made some pact with ... or something-something.

would be neat if servers could alter these settings for their server. Instead of toning it down for every one, create a setting that would allow you to choose how easy uniques are to kill, towers are to capture, and some other misc things.

that spell has 3 difficulties depending on your priest channeling. pull your hairs, cut your wrist veins, kill yourself. or if it was a car it would be a 3 speed slow, parking, reverse i guess its balanced for pvp but not for pve

Honestly I'd prefer to do without it. It seems like something out of a loonytoons world rather than something out of Wurm +1

The core mechanic was intentionally left alone with one exception: We removed all the remaining disadvantages of low nutrition. You can make the same food with the same resulting nutrition/food gains in the same way. You can completely ignore this update and you can even toggle off the CCFP meters. What we did was added a new system that operates on top of the old one at the base level. We added bonuses for participating in the new system. It is entirely opt-in. This system was designed and implemented by a developer who has a focus on new features. We have other developers, including myself, that tend to focus on bugs. Indeed, if you review the patch notes you will see that the entire team worked together over the many months cooking was in development to bring many bug fixes out. Budda focused on many broken mechanics as well. The evidence for all of what I say is freely available on in the patch notes here on this forum.

I keep reading the complaints of pvpers here and other parts of the forums and most of the time I have to facepalm. It's assumed that you cannot join in on pvp unless you're a 'diehard' or 'wallet warrior' which is completely not true. Does that make it easier? Maybe...but honestly anyone can compete if they want to pvp, they just can't jump in and assume they can kill the strongest accounts immediately. If you look at my Niarja uploads, you can see that I went to chaos in July/August 2015; I was a complete pvp newb, I've actually refused to pvp in any other game but wurm because I hate the mentality pvp brings. I went to chaos to learn the pvp mechanics and become a better CA, and stayed because it was fun when I let it be. My skills were entirely freedomer, the only weapon skill I really had was two handed sword at the time. Check out shields, longsword, etc and you can see I'm telling the truth. Did I die in chaos? Sure! That's how pvp works, in case you hadn't noticed. Did I die in one on one fights? Nope. For one, you rarely find those in chaos anyway, and for another, most fighting is done in groups. MR took me in, taught me to fight and defend and how to work in a team. And most of all, how to have fun doing it. Just like any other kingdom could probably say of their players. The only reason I left was the metagaming had reached a level that was unacceptable to me. TLDR: If you want to pvp, find a good group, work on your character and HAVE FUN doing it. And those that whine endlessly, please stop ruining the game for everyone else.

I was reading this: And agree with it completely, then it made me think, why don't we have multiple options for creating all the dye colors? We have flowers, berries, trees and many critters with various butcher parts. Plenty of ways to get dyes in different forms. This is a purely cosmetic part of the game, so it won't break PvP to expand on dyes. Give fighters that can't garden a chance to find all the colors. Give gardeners that can't mine a chance to find them all, etc. Just keep the QL of the dye tied to the skill of the dye making process.

A shop with so many nice things shouldn't be so far down the pages... just saying. And the Bees are recommended too, they live happy, buzzing and honeymaking in nice little hives i made with my very own paws.

His original PC had a Radeon R9 200 series for graphics, so not that old and the GT720 is no upgrade. I think he just was not sure how to fix whatever-issues-it-had and decided a new system would be less headache, and a 2GB "720 Something Something" sounded better than 1GB "200 Something Something", all of the parts though sounded fine and he tried I think reinstalling windows a few times. This is where a $50 local geek can be your best investment.

As Brash mentioned, you can pay someone local $50 to build a PC for you. If you want to save yourself $50 and use it to buy a better part / new mouse or something, have a quick look on YouTube at building it yourself. I see you said you used to repair old computer systems and didn't want the hassle anymore. The hassle is gone. Basically everything is just "Plug and Play". A complete novice who knows how to use a screwdriver to open their case (no even needed in most cases) and a pair of scissors to open the boxes can build a PC in 30 minutes. Just get some cable ties and push the cables out of the way... you really can't go wrong, unless you either forget to install a part or... uhh, forget to turn the socket on at the wall lol.

For those that were posting simply to go for a high end graphics card... OP beware you'll want to ensure you also purchase a PSU (power supply) that is rated to handle it.

I was +1 but apparently some people adore the animation, and it doesnt bother me that much to vote for a non wiggely hive. So i dont vote now ;).

-1, I love to see them "dancing", is a very cute animation; when opening a bee hive you don't see anything similar to a real one, no bees, no honeycombs, no queen(s), is a nice replacement for them.

I've been building basement houses for a while. Bridges made it possible to have a real basement feel, by gapping over the 33 slope adjoining tile. Here is an example of one I did on a cliff face: But, I REALLY want a true basement as OP is requesting. I think the new mine borders offer that potential if build over rock. How cool would it be to have our houses run seamlessly from above to below ground? Niki has some great ideas on how to create the basement, but one thing we really have to worry about is: "Help I've fallen and can't get up!" The potential for creating traps is really bad. Chaos and Epic would become epicly chaotic. Solve that and this would be awesome.

This would render someone completely invulnerable while travelling. This is game breaking and easily exploitable. Got to go to a Rift quickly? Equip your wand of immunity and be there in a jiffy. Have a group of people on Chaos chasing you? Equip it and all you have to worry about is others catching up to you. No, this is a terrible idea. Its completely the opposite to what a "Cosmetic Only" Item means. Something that makes you completely invulnerable to hostile mobs is something that should never be implemented. The potential for exploitation is too great.
