This little suggestion is based on my experience yesterday where I didn't know Wurm was down for updates. I thought it had the usual login issues with servers lately. It would be great if on the login screen itself it showed something more relevant than "Unable to connect to..." and instead provide a reason for it. Something like "Wurm is getting a nice update now. Please be patient and you'll be able to login as soon as we're done! Grab yourself a coffee in the meantime:) "

I can type /hug in a half a second, but it takes me 4 or so to navigate through the right click menu. Please allow us to perform emotes on selected objects using chat commands.

Plus it's a lot easier to make steppe than it is to make forest. You should have the upper hand just because of that.

Tests that were done: Setup 3 forges, side by side. All were 10QL for safety, though any difference under 30QL doesn't matter since all fires under 30QL burn at the same rate. Fuel Cap Proof Light all of them at the same time. Wait until the message "The fire burns with wild flames and still has much unburnt material." Fuel one forge with 2 tar (16 fuel). This will result in ~21-23kg of fuel. Fuel next forge with 2 tar and 2kg of non-birch wood (21 fuel). This will result in ~23-25kg of fuel. Fuel last forge with 3 tar (24 fuel). This will result in 30kg fuel no matter what, since it hits the cap. Forge one will start to expire first. Forge two will follow shortly after. The other forges will both be below "A few flames still dance on the fire but soon they too will die." before the third one hits "The fire burns with wild flames and still has much unburnt material." Message Fuel Proof The above proof shows we have a 30kg fuel cap on forges. So how long does that burn? Roughly 83.3 minutes if the forge is under 30QL. Can't find the exact logs I had when I was testing everything, but this should basically get the point across After that, it's just a matter of examining the fire as it expires and cross-referencing it with how much fuel it should have left.

Hello. I know I am not the only person that is put off by the daunting task that is supplying arrows for myself. I have seen different people offer a variety of suggestions, so I thought I would offer one of my own. The big problem I have is, not the task of making arrows, not even the fact that they have a chance to instantly break upon impact, but the tedium of improving each and every single arrow in my quivers, only to lose most of them in a matter of 15 minutes. The time invested into the creation of high quality arrows does not match the return in terms of either time or combat effectiveness (at least at my fletching skill level of 41). My proposed solution is to, instead of forcing the player to improve each and every arrow, instead make the arrows able to combine into a "bundle of arrows". Suppose the number of arrows that can be bundled is capped at 41, as to not cause quivers to become useless. Then, with the bundle of arrows, you can improve the bundle instead of just one arrow. Of course, if you are improving for skill gain, you may also improve single arrows, but for the purposes of actual combat usefulness, you should obviously just improve the bundle. Let me know what you guys think, and let's have a discussion about this. Feel free to offer better suggestions so that we can get this feature into the game

It would be nice to have the ability to name highway markers (waystones and catseyes) added (mass rename in inventory and rename on road by a person who planted). There are many things that retain their name after being planted, and it would be very useful to designate name of the road, directions, map tile, exits etc.

Change: Maximum Archery skill that you can gain by using an archery target was increased to 45. Bugfix: Fixed bug that allowed players to get over 40 Archery on an archery target.Northern Freedom Only: We have identified a few players who used this bug to raise archery higher than intended. After verifying that their archery skill was below 45 before the bug was introduced in yesterdays patch, the Archery skill of those players will be moved back to 45.0.

Simple solution, just outwork them. go chop down the new trees, gather the grass, cultivate, and plant the grass recreating the steppe. if you and the others who feel strongly about it just go out one day and undo it, whoever did it should get discouraged enough to stop. or, better, they might figure out that talking to people in local and getting their input on making such large scale changes is really the preferred method of play.

So if you carry around a backpack full of heavy textbooks on your arm or in your hand it's quite heavy. We've all experienced this at one point or another when we were in school. Now putting that backpack on your back or even just over a shoulder made this feel much lighter and easier to carry, so rather than carrying a bag in our hand or looped over an arm everyone at least slung the backpack over their back. What I'm proposing is a reduction of weight, even just a little bit, for the contents in a backpack while it is equipped. Even if this weight reduction is only a 5% or so reduction to the entire backpack's weight (as well as it's contents) this would make backpacks not only more realistic in terms of allowing players to carry something efficiently on their backs, but also assist in dealing with heavier loads when on foot. After all, this is why backpacks, in part, were created the way they were. Isn't it? Of course a backpack in the inventory would not reduce weight as again "in hand" is heavier than "on back".

since dual wielding is not viable because your second weapon is mostly decoration on a fight i thought it could use some changes to be really viable. For example a dual wielding skill, at the begining if you choose to dual wield you would get hit penalties on both weapons since you are unskilled on that style, while you progress on that combat mode that penalties would get reduced and at 100 maybe remove the penalty on main hand and keep a lower penalty on the offhand (since your right hand is still your main hand) and since it would be a hard skill to level(similar to agresive/normal/defensive fighting) it would take a lot on investment to get a decent level on that skill to be really efective, but rewarding when you reach a high level on that skill making it a viable alternative against staff/huge axe, of course thinking that the offhand attack speed would be increased to like half speed of that weapon being a mainhand so you could use any combination too for diferent speeds, or just suit yourself with a open plate helm, 2 axes and chainmail to be an angry viking

I am absolutely behind this idea. I am one of those "emotive" players - I don't necessarily RP 24/7.... but I always want to give my neighbors a friendly "wave" while passing on the road. Using the right-click action menu approach means that usually I'm waving to thin air, as my neighbor has long since passed by and is multiple tiles down the road already. I know that not every player likes emotes, but that's not a reason to make them near-impossible to use for the players that do. In comparable current games there are basically 2 mechanics for emotes that Wurm is entirely missing: (1) slash chat commands like the OP has mentioned (e.g. /wave) (2) allowing emote keybinds (press G to emote "good morning" at current target) After attempting every conceivable way to use a slash command or F1 a keybind to no avail, I recently asked Community Assistance about it... I was told that Wurm doesn't allow keybinds for emotes because some player might use that to spam emotes. Let me say that I understand why we would attempt to preempt emote spamming.... But - frankly - this rationale is insane. Some player will probably use a game mechanic to be a jerk?.... Well, DUH! Have you met gamers? OF COURSE some player is going to abuse the game mechanic! Not allowing for emote keybinds for this reason is like saying, "Some player might be provocative in chat, so we don't have an in-game chat box." Do we do that? No, of course not. THAT'S WHAT TOS AND GAME RULES ARE FOR. We accept that the ToS and Rules outline what is and is not acceptable behavior, and lay out the punitive actions for behaving badly. And when some player behaves badly, they are reported & punitive actions are taken. This is all just to say: allow slash commands and keybinds for emotes. Put in the ToS that we're not to spam emotes, etc. Put us on ignore, block, mute, etc. when we break the emote rules. Don't withhold an incredibly basic game mechanic from all of us based on the idea that some gamer is going to some day abuse the system. +1 and /cheer for accessible emotes in Wurm.

Sounds like a good idea, it's mostly new players that will benefit from it as eventually you'll get enough Body Strength that things like this have no real effect. A minor boost like this early on can't hurt and it's what you'd generally expect from wearing a backpack on your back.

The exclusive spells is due to the lore of the deities of Wurm. Fo is the nature god, Magranon is the God of mining/fighting, Vynora is the Goddess of Knowledge/Crafting etc. Sorry to say, but I doubt any changes to this will be implemented.

That should always have been the case, perhaps the new UI just makes it more obvious. Vehicles (carts, wagons) provide automatic good footing but come with a CR penalty. Horses come with a CR bonus but do not provide automatic good footing, you need to use the terrain to position yourself for footing.

Well, it felt like I visited just about every outdoor tile on Astrix, and found nothing that satisfies those clues. There was a pair of gloves and sleeves, a war arrow, bits of woad and lovage, and some dirt lying about. There was a nice looking horse with pretty tack. . Nothing that screamed "this is it" to me, and I opened every unlocked container I could find. I am going to call it a wild goose, because this not a mystery or a quest, it is a wild goose chase 🤪 There is a chest apparently hidden behind a tree, but it is locked.

Are we not all happy about the higher player population in Wurm now? I am and I would never deed over a place that looks like someone wants to settle. If you want open lands with no one living on the shore: Go to the old servers. To all those newbies reading here: Build a little house and people can not deed over it. Doesnt need a roof, just 4 walls and you are save. You can even have grass inside for your cow or horse. Thats a save way to live without a deed for a beginning, but check the walls for decay and repair them regularly. Every newbie that enjoys the game is a potential deed owner later on... if you bully them away, well then you should ask yourself why you even started on such a populated server? Is it the hope for business? Then you need customers who stay on the server and buy from you, right?
  43. 1 point
Technically you're correct. However, with the influx of new players I did not want to push anyone away. I can easily make it inland. It's harder to build a deed and get around when you live "in the middle of nowhere". I want to see these islands succeed, so I made the decision to not claim it when there was a chance someone new had gotten there before me and was just figuring things out.

You're a jaded and cynical old timer! 😉 Everybody insisting that Wurm is NOT free to play keeps invoking premium subscription, but pretends that this equates to having to pay money. This is simply not true. Survive? I died 5 times in my first 2 days, which would have happened even if I had paid for premium up front. Thereafter I knew to pick my battles, pick my quarry, and note the location of the nearest guard tower. I survived, free of charge. Ride a horse? Yeah, this didn't happen until I subscribed for premium, but I paid for my sub with in-game silver accumulated in game, free of charge Large cart? Same as the horse, but before that I was using a small cart. But again, my sub was free of charge. Sail a decent boat? You mean an advanced boat. I built and used my own rowboat, and travelled between servers. Free of charge. Found a deed? No I didn't do that, but it was because I didn't have a location picked. I did not lack the silver. Free of charge. Imp stuff? Define "decent" . True, I found constant maintenance of structures to be a bit of a pain, but then I joined a village on another server y housand sailed over to set up house - before I went premium. Plan a 2 story house? What is a single-story house not part of "real" play? I have seen plenty of them in-game, are you saying that these people happy to live on one level are not really playing the game? I could go on, but basically the "not free to play" premise is incorrect.

Ah, my first two months in the game. I was given a suit of chain armour, which I packed away as it slowed me down too much, and huge axe, which I likewise stored because I valued having a shield. Neither of those were calling in favours but were part of the community aspect of the game. A player offered to take some of my gear to an impalong and bring it back all suped up, but I didn't really know what an impalong was and declined.. You issue this challenge like I didn't already answer it above. THAT was not my first month but my first 2 at least, and I went premium without paying real money for anything. Free. To. Play. QED.
