Dear Wurm Online Community,
The last weeks have been wild for me and I want to share some words with you all. I initially joined the game in 2012 and became a forum member a year later.

Along the way, I encountered some fantastic individuals, people I still consider friends despite not having played together in years. Some of them even served on the GM and dev teams for an extended period, and I always admired their dedication.

The volunteers, who work tirelessly to keep the game running, deserve immense credit, even if it means they face stress or worse in their real lives. It's undeniable that this game wouldn't be where it is today without them.

While every community has a few bad apples (and I will not name them in this post), I am convinced that they - unfortunately - are in every community.

After nearly ten years on the staff team, with over half of that time as a GM, I've recently been removed from the team. I have been fired because another staff member has shared internal information I made a screenshot of and sent it to them.

The management expects me to tell them who I have shared it with but all my access to our internal platforms has been removed (and I told them that) and it has been over four months since it happened so I don't even remember it.

I do not know what I should do and since I have not heard anything back from them in over two weeks I guess they are done with me as well. It's perplexing to be accused of serious offenses without being given an opportunity to defend myself.

It would be foolish of me to throw away everything I've invested in this role without cause. I understand that they have the authority to remove anyone without explanation, but this situation feels peculiar.

Many are aware of a past incident where the team forums were leaked, and I want to make it clear that I had no involvement in that. Unfortunately, I fear this case will be swept under the rug, based on how past staff removal cases have been handled.

With little hope for a positive resolution as my case has been looked into for a few months without even considering to ask me, I've decided to end it here.

As a passionate PvP player, I hope that steps will be taken to address the longstanding issues we've been dealing with for quite some time now.

Dear Discord Team,
I hope you will continue your work as good as I have seen it since the server got created. Unfortunately the Discord bot I have created myself will come with my sudden removal.

But since there has been great effort for the last few months to make a new bot to replace my work I assume you already back to full business!

Dear @Astarte, @Nicrolis, @Belisama, @Brokkr@Enki, Epiphron, @Maximusi, @Idony, @Njorunand@Ohana,
carry on your voluntary work as GMs as you did in the past and we have a good future. I know many people do not know what is going on behind the scenes but as someone that does know I can say that I respect you all and wish you all the best for the future.

Dear @Ausimus,
thank you for all the changes you have made possible. You're a great dev and I had a lot of fun with you back in the days on Chaos.

Dear @fencejumper,
keep doing what you are doing. You have the right moral compass and are an excellent GM. Keep forming the Discord mods as you did in the past. If you ever struggle with anything do not hesitate to let me know!

That's a wrap! Thank you, everyone, for taking the time to read, whether it matters to you or not.

Perhaps our paths will cross again. Having devoted numerous hours to the game as a volunteer, seeing everything crumble has left me in disarray, so I'll need some time to come to terms with it.

I am available on Discord (Capi) if any of you folks want to talk to me in the future!

So long,
Capi

Was the person that shared it on the staff?

Were they fired also?

If they were not on the staff, have they been banned?

Should have been.  Would like to hear confirmation of it.

I don't really remember it and but it was probably to discuss something.

Oh they were on the staff team as well! I will edit my post to make that clear!

To discuss with who? And sent that screenshot through which platform?

U made the screenshot to probably discuss something with another staff member, if my logic is right.

RIP Capi.

The entire situation is weird given you've had 0 platform to defend yourself, or a way to actually give them information that matters. It certainly brings the leaks back to mind, where it's a ruling of chaos by upper levels. Why go for the person doing actual leaking when you can fire your gun at the person who used the screenshot to discuss a matter with someone internally? The message I'd be getting as staff is to not share screenshots of internal matters in case you run the risk of it being leaked and you get the boot instead. It feels less like a removal for the safety of internal information and more like a removal for some other reason, personal or otherwise.

Between losing other people like Enki and the losses last year, it seems like the situation on the back end is still fairly unstable.

I think it would be up to the management to give an explanation for the recent purges. This is disquieting for the whole customer base. Of course we have no power to interfere in the relations of the management with their slaves employees and volunteers. But it concerns us all. And the management should be aware of the dire consequences of a loss of reputation.

And all the best for you, Capi.

Honestly, thank you for making this post because this is pretty disappointing. If your not under NDA can you share more about this screenshot, was it a discord message, any context?

Also why was there a bot in the works to replace yours? It seemed to be up and running the day you got removed so that is suspicious as heck to me, did they wait till they we're done to oust you?

Why isn't Krister or Pomona making this post, what's the deal with all this hush hush sweep under the rug nonsense? The team needs to be more transparent with your players!!!! You guys act like Blizzard or something, you can't afford to be so tough, stuff like this creates massive issues for a small indie game, please be better.

Capi, I have to say I have always admired and respected your work.

You took the Discord server and made it something truly unique, and something that to this day I am still proud of you for doing. A bot can replace the functions, but it cannot replace the sheer work and dedication you put into that space.

Thank you for all your work in Wurm, and I'm sorry it ended this way.

Capi will be missed. Remember the Capi, but most importantly, remember the wrath of magranon.

Problem with being a volunteer is that you can be voluntold at any time with no consideration of work done and metrics.

At least on a paid position most companies lay out metrics but with wurm even that seems fluid.

I've been in multiple kingdoms comms, highly trusted private kingdom discord channels, etc with capi. He's always been professional where wurm staff related matters are and usually deflected any sensitive questions that he probably shouldnt have answered. He never shared anything that'd be considered even a bit leaky in all those years with people he trusted alot and played with daily, so sad to see something got pinned on him.

This shouldn't happen to Capi from all types of views i have had with him. Enemy, freind, GM, kingdom mate, so yeah this sucks and i think there should be an explanation as to why we should watch as a community the staff be shredded away like this, staff we've all known for years.

Sorry bud, but this is the society we live in, been living in.
You are guilty until proven innocent.

The one thing I can say is, being out of that drama is probably going to be way better for your mental health.
