  1. +1, at minimum provide a spell that lights an oven or forge without steel and flint even if it still requires kindling
  2. The problem is reproducible. 1. Character A "opens" an empty small wine barrel 2. Character B pours in some unfermented whiskey 3. Character B "seals" the barrel with a peg. 4. Character A's client crashes due to Null Pointer Exception.
  3. "smelt the metal into screws " - wow, new crops, furniture, runes, recipes, herbs, trees, beekeeping and now SCREWS too! That you "smelt" from metal! Yeah, well done article. It is true that alot of the time spent in Wurm is not fun. I imped my chainmail set for over an hour today and didn't enjoy a single minute of it. The basic grindy operations need to become more gamey so that doing them is entertaining in themselves. It needn't be much either; people play a simple card game like blackjack for hours on end. Some elements of choice, risk/reward, and strategy incorporated into crafting in even a small way would make a huge difference.
  4. How about the bee messages applying only to wild hives. I am getting a good amount of bee related spam from walking around my deed.
  5. Requires tin sheet. Uses tailoring skill.
  6. If you liked this conjunction, then you will love 1063 Raven III Wrath. The moons will be bunched significantly closer and the observation window will be longer. It is 20:00:00 on Wrath day in week 3 of the Raven's starfall in the year of 1063. Jackal: alt=+17.7, azm=-92.3 Seris: alt=+32.2, azm=-74.0 Valrei: alt=+11.0, azm=-85.9 This event is probably as good as they ever get. Assuming of course that the new client retains the current moon positions when it is released. Last time I looked the test client showed the moons in different places than the production client. FYI the corresponding terrestrial time is approximately 2017-01-23T08:07:13.750-0600.
  7. Regarding stars and constellations, I haven't given them much attention other than identifying an asterism that marks the location of the Pole. The stars appear to be all the same color and brightness and that dampens my enthusiasm for studying them. My one remaining ambition is to recover the orbit that Haven had before it started its current habit of thrashing around in the vicinity of Sol which looks to me like a bug. It clearly used to follow a near polar orbit like Seris and Valrei. My records alone aren't sufficient though so I am hoping to find old screenshots from other players to help with that.
  8. I jumped on it. Once I learn how to run it I want to try making some mods.
  9. Here is one from later on. Sorry for the big image, does the "Insert other media" tool just flat not work?
  10. Valrei is moving closer to Jackal now and will attain a minimum separation of about 25 degrees near midnight of Luck day in week 3 of the starfall of Dancers in the year of 1061.
  11. Jackal and Seris will be very low on the Eastern horizon for this event so you will need a completely unobstructed view toward the East. Best viewing time will likely be shortly after sunset, say 21:00:00 on day of the Wurm in week 3 of the starfall of Dancers in the year 1061.
  12. Jackal is moving into position nicely. Things should begin to look interesting in another 12 hours or so.
  13. The drawing is now world readable.
  14. Those among us who care about things celestial will be treated to a grand conjunction of Wurm's three largest moons in the near future. For quite a while now I have been studying the motions of the moons to discover the principles of their motions. I now have sufficiently accurate estimates of the orbital planes to be able to predict their positions with reasonable accuracy. So I am pleased to be able to alert sky gazers of an interesting conjunction of the moons in the hours surrounding day of the Wurm in week 3 of the starfall of Dancers in the year 1061, which is coming up in less than one Terrestrial week! I put together a graphic showing more or less what to expect here on Google Drawings (sharing now enabled). In Wurm just like in real life all of the really interesting astronomical events happen when the weather is overcast. So I am making an additional prediction of rain or fog at the same time :-/
  15. +1, tapestries are needlessly difficult to place.
  16. I see both Fennel the herb and Fennel Seed the spice. Are all of the herbs grown from their seeds or are some planted directly? Great looking new content, I can't wait to try it out on the new test servers.
  17. Late 2016 Roadmap

In the interest of flushing out bugs I have tried running the unstable client but I find that the disconnection problem makes it unplayable for me at least. If not for that I would run it all the time. Please concentrate on fixing that ASAP to allow more player hours to be spent proving the client out before releasing it.
  18. +1, I prefer this to the spiral although it doesn't stack. A half turn variant in addition to the two quarter turn variants wiuld be nice too.
  19. Behind that larder is a pile of white lumps. Could be marble, could be ...
  20. +1, non humanoid and non hell/lava creatures should avoid fire. As a noob back in the days of really poor starter gear I tried using campfires to ward off mobs while building a shack and was pretty disappointed that it didnt work.
  21. Welcome to my underground grape mine. From trellis to press to barrel, our wine never sees the light of day!
  22. Would it be fun to create a pond or lake by damming a stream? You bet! Would it be fun to log in and discover your property underwater due to far away activity by a random player? Not so much. Ditto on finding that the natural lake you built next to has suddenly drained away. Not fun equals people don't play. Balance is required to keep things fun and nobody seems to have solved that problem yet. Another hard problem is how to make player created water features look appealing. There is no reason to think these problems aren't solvable and the sooner I see it the happier I will be.
  23. I dont think anyone has figured out how to combine player terraforming with rivers, streams, ponds, etc. in such a way as to prevent players from unleashing hydraulic armageddon on one another. People would absolutely dam streams to flood enormous regions including property belonging to other players if they could. Unless or until someone works out reasonable controls I expect to see one or the other but not both in the same game.
