  1. In the Patch Notes for 2 May: Great to see that the Devs have taken note of the problem as discussed within this thread and made these adjustments. Hopefully it won't have any adverse effects upon the rest of cooking and nutrition levels. =Ayes=
  2. I find it to be a curiously peculiar circumstance during which transition it was neither here nor there, of which depths I can not fathom. Some too might deem funny to be odd with the sound of bemusement lacking but Subways can be confusing if you are unfamiliar with the schedule. So I can understand your reticence to take it seriously. =Ayes=
  3. The Cash Shop is definitely the way to go to sell these types of optional items since it puts more income directly into the game which then as you put it, will "benefit your dwindling player base". Much better than selling these items through Traders that those who make their coins in game would prefer. Already the game offers (too) many ways to get "free" coins in game which players then use to avoid paying out any cash from their own pockets to support it. Nothing "cash grabbing" about this but just an attempt to gain more income to support the game's progress. I can understand too that it would take some time to setup a Cash Shop along these lines since the current one is very simplified to serve just the functions of Premium Time and Coin Sales. Actually when they do get this Cash Shop setup I would prefer that Deed Upkeep and Premium Time only be available to be paid through it as well to eliminate the ability of players to avoid paying RL cash for these services. Although paying Deed Upkeep only through the Cash Shop might be very difficult to setup. =Ayes=
  4. I will agree with you that I should have defined what I meant with the term "unlocked" in quotes, specifically that the cart/wagon still had a lock on it but the permissions were set so that "everyone" had access to use it. As I was diverging off topic into a different circumstance pertaining to carts/wagons this could contribute to misunderstanding my point. To clarify, I was *warning* not to use random "found" carts/wagons with a lock on them with various permissions set that allowed "everyone" to use them since the owner of the cart/wagon could at any time for any reason remove these permissions "remotely" through their Profile and then whatever items are inside of it are then "trapped" within it so that the user could not longer take them out or even drag the cart/wagon. Possibly they could not "unhitch" their horses from it either (not sure). So under the circumstances I just described "permissions set to everyone" won't help one bit since they have been removed and no longer apply! With this in mind I would *never* use a random "found" cart/wagon with a lock on it but I would have no problems with using a cart/wagon without a lock on it since I would just keep it off other's deeds. Then they can be handy to use (carts without locks on them) either on one's own deed or on free/perimeter lands by newer/old players. Knowledge is the key here for newer players to "unlock" the best ways to safely play and enjoy the game. Yes, mistakes will be made while learning the game but it would be hard to protect the newer players from all of them, which is why spending some time reading these forums is very helpful to those ends. Hopefully I have cleared up any confusion with my previous statements for those concerned. That's not to say I won't create more (confusion) in the future. Happy Trails =Ayes=
  5. Maybe to you this is what "unlocked" means but it is plainly explained within my post that is not what I meant. Have you ever opened a door that has a lock on it (within the handle)? Why is this possible? Because it is "unlocked". Since the Profile tab has the ability to manage carts/wagons/ships on it if they are "unlocked" in this manner they can be "re-locked" remotely, as I stated. =Ayes=
  6. I did let out a *heh* to myself when I saw that thread closed. If it was not for discussion of the topic it should have never allowed comments within it in the first place. There is your mistake, which now leads to this thread of complaint about it. I would have been just as satisfied if it were a informative Dev Blog post with no comments allowed. More so actually since I wouldn't have then been exposed to the comments of all the nay-sayers and those who knew better ways of doing everything. =Ayes=
  7. A warning of this sort in Event tab is a good idea, to be done somehow I have no idea. Other than that it is never a good idea to use "unlocked" carts, wagons, ships anyway since they can also be "re-locked" remotely by the owner through settings from any location on the server. If people want others to use their no longer needed items like this they should just remove the lock. Still, this wont help with items trapped on deeds as noted in the OP. =Ayes=
  8. Here is the hole you uncovered in your experiment. Newbie tools are junk for destroying fences/walls of all types. You also discovered that the large maul is the best tool for destroying stone items and provides much more damage when higher QL (80-90 commonly). For wood items it is a huge axe. I think if they are made from lead that provides an additional bashing bonus too. No re-balancing needed. =Ayes=
  9. If this is done the base rate should stay the same. This means a 1QL bed will give the current sleep bonus. The say for every 10QL you get an additional 1% gain rate which translates to 10% at max. Then rare, supreme and fantastic could give another 1% each. Not so overpowered really as the maximum sleep bonus would remain at 5 hours. =Ayes=
  10. If you want no decay on your whetstone you must keep it in your inventory. They are pretty light too and will fit inside a backpack or satchel in your inventory for less clutter. Cedar chests have a very minimal reduction on the decay of items put within them anyway making any focus upon them for that "benefit" worth little. No change needed to whetstone decay rate. Now lanterns kept within inventory are another matter (discussed elsewhere too). =Ayes=
  11. They have, in the Suggestions & Ideas forum area. =Ayes=
  12. True, although if you go to a Subway store you can add more cash to it, for instance a few days ago the cost to buy 1 gold was $128. 26 US using the Xsolla payments option in the Wurm Shop. Can also buy lesser amounts of silver too to use some of that $100.00 currently on the card. The website states that on April 30 they will discontinue use of them (no reason provided). Still, the Xsolla payment option will continue to accept many gift cards that are listed there. A better option that PayPal as Xsolla also accepts traditional bank debit/credit cards as well. They have no currency transaction fee to Euros either for paying with various currencies accepted as they do their currency conversions in-house. So if you want to pay with US dollars this is available. In the end I have found Xsolla to always cost less than using PayPal in the Wurm Shop. =Ayes= (maybe this is a CA section post though?)
  13. Less weight makes crow flying easier and we know how much crows like raiding the corn fields. =Ayes=
  14. Everybody sleeping? No responses here. I guess that is copper chain armor? Looks pretty nice (without the flashing of course ). =Ayes=
  15. I think you were drawn to the location Magnet-awanally. Beautiful area up thereabouts around the waters of Parry Sound. Next find your way to San Jose. =Ayes=
  16. Whenever I make a response to another that contains what I consider to be useful information I always think in the terms that you stated, that being it may be helpful to others who read it as well. This is the nice thing about posting and reading the forums. Great to read that you are doing much better now and I hope you enjoyed the meal that some kind soul gave to you. *winks* =Ayes=
  17. I suggested that it be weaker than gold/steel. Also the Iron Mine Door will be much easier to create than a Steel one due to the initial Steel production requirements, so your stating that it will be "basically like steel" dosen't apply in these aspects. Now that I come to think of it further the Iron Mine Door should be stronger than a Gold Mine Door as well due to the malleable properties of gold. So both Gold and Silver are basically the *bling* mine doors for their flashy status and decorative styles. This would all make the Iron Mine Door the most practical of all of them due to easier creation by moderate Blacksmiths, materials required and strength of the end product, rather than some nerfed out addition as some would suggest. =Ayes=
  18. Hit a piece of iron and silver with a hammer in RL. Easy to see which takes almost no damage while the other dents easily. Sure a silver mine door is difficult to create but I see it more as decorative than for strength. Iron might not be so pretty but should be stronger due to its material, even if easier to create (which it should be). =Ayes=
  19. Remove this *interval* and I could live with rest of the current system. This is really the killer part of it for me as it means having to break up whatever I am currently doing to meditate or log in on that character 5 separate times each day. I would very much prefer to do my 5 meditations in a row, gain whatever skill they might provide and be done with it. As it currently stands I rarely ever do 5 or even 4 per day since this structured restriction I can't handle. =Ayes=
  20. Yes! The newbie buffs should be extended to 72 hours, at a minimum. If they also realize that the Bartender will feed them for that time period then they will be encouraged to stay around Haven's Landing area to learn the game and then move outward from there much better prepared with the experience and knowledge to continue to enjoy playing the game, rather than getting discouraged and quitting. Just because as olden players we had a harder time of it I see no reason to impose the mistakes of the past upon other new players. =Ayes=
  21. Cynlanton, Staying at Haven's Landing for some time is a good idea as it has many things that you will need right there. There is an iron mine in the Village with forge and fuel so you can craft nails for building a small/large cart which you can then pull/drag around with you. If you take off all your leather armor you can them move a lot faster and you really won't need to wear it anyway if you stay close to the Village. There are also 2 guard towers close enough to call for guards help if any mob wanders near there, which they rarely do. There is also a farm in HL Village that anyone can use to plant/grow vegetables/cotton/wemp. It is right near the Village exit next to those large Portals. Most of it is already planted out with these various items but before you harvest anything use "examine" on the field and don't harvest unless it is "ripe" as you will get poor QL and less items. Then be sure to replant the tile for a continued supply for all. If you take that exit out of the Village you will see on your right a "New Players House" and outside of it on the highway there is an Oven with a bin next to it that has fuel items to burn. There is a well a few tiles from that for water. Inside that house there is a forge you can use with a bin next to it with various items and fuel in it. There is also a Food Bin in the house that sometimes has food items in it. If you harvest extra ripe crops you could drop them in there for others to use or come back for them later if others don't use them as the house is free for all to pickup items. Also, inside the HL Village there is a "Bartender" in the central area that will give you free food/water for first 24hrs playtime by clicking on it. In that central area there is also a Woodcutting section where you can chop down trees. There are some cedars in there close to the hedge border that are sort of bugged and you will get the message that "you are too weak to cut them" (or some such message) so this may be what you experienced if you were cutting trees in that area. If so just move further away from the hedge a few rows and you can cut trees, although they may not be cedars there as every thing seems to spawn in random sections of varieties. So if you make some nails in the mine right next to the tree area, then cut trees, make planks and then create a large cart (better than small one) you can load this with planks and drag it outside the HL Village where you will see many other new players have built their small homesteads on "Haven's Landing perimeter", which you can do as well. Actually I did see you out there the other day while on my alt guy (waved at you but no response) behind the New Players House up the hill just a bit, so you could build a house anywhere around there. Also if you would have responded and told me of your food problem I would have gone to my place nearby and cooked up a meal or two for you. Only problem is if you log out with them in your inventory when you log in again they will immediately decay away if sufficient time has passed. A few other players that live around there would help you out in this respect as well. The point I am making here is that staying at Haven's Landing and building on the perimeter is a great spot to learn the game since every thing you need is right there available, except animals to kill for meat which you don't really need anyway to start off since you can make breakfasts with just 1 vegetable, or even casseroles when your skill is a bit higher. There is also a clay digging area inside the HL Village that you can use if you want to create a number of bowls to train HFC. This is on the other side of the hedge below the woodcutting section and you have to find your way around to that lower level. Also, some of the houses in HL Village have beds in them that anyone can use so initially you don't even need to create your own bed to sleep in for building up "Sleep Bonus". As for this comment. If using the old method of 1 bowl in the oven, filling the oven with vegetables, removing the cooked breakfast and dragging the next item into the bowl, it will not cook into a breakfast for 3-5 minutes, whereas before the update it would immediately cook into a breakfast, thus making this *current* way to raise HFC very time consuming. So now it is better to make many bowls, fill them all with 1 vegetable and drop them all into the oven at the same time. Then when they do cook into breakfasts you will get HFC skill gains from the total number of them at once (like the old panfilling method which is now the best way to go). Then just *remove all the bowls*, take the breakfasts out, refill and then put back into the oven so that they will all cook at the same time again (aprox 3-5 mins later). Anyway, if you stick around that area I will probably see you when playing my alts there. So pay attention to the "Local" chat tab if you want to interact with others when they attempt to speak with you. Generally the current players are helpful to the newer ones but I prefer not to be too pushy and do everything for them out of good intentions. Hopefully once you get the food situation sorted out better you will feel more at ease and continue to enjoy the other aspects of the game. Happy Trails =Ayes=
  22. I like the idea of it but it would seem a daunting task for the Devs to create an object such as this that gives you a picture of yourself just by standing in front of it. I can't think of any other game that has something like this. AW used to have "pictures" on signs but they were created by links to the website where they were hosted similar to forum pictures so not really "reflections" of anything in game. =Ayes=
  23. Yes, the qualities of an Iron Mine Door should be a step up from stone and less than the other metal doors. Although I do think it should be stronger than a silver mine door. Here's to hoping that Devs do the right thing and add an Iron Mine Door to the game. =Ayes=
  24. Being from the pre-cooking "enhancement" era I pay little (if any) attention to CCFP (turned the bar off) and affinity bonuses from food which simplifys eating into just the Nutritional aspect of maintaining it at 90-99% from either 50+ QL *hot* meals or an occasional sacrifice for the skill gain bonus they provide. The rest of the new cooking system can be totally ignored with little negative impact as whatever bonuses you get from paying attention to CCFP and affinity foods is minimal. Players not familiar with the intricacies of the new cooking system should read the Wurmpedia and the new cooking update info on the forum section and then judge if it is worth their while or of interest to them to get deeper involved with. Don't be fooled into thinking that you must pay any attention to CCFP and affinity bonus food to play the game well as it is just an extra bonus. I think the main point of this thread is that newer players need to have created an easier way to maintain their basic Nutrition level as it was pre-cooking changes with their negative impact to them. Older players and those with higher HFC suffer much less (if any) in comparison. =Ayes=
  25. Strangely lacking in game is an Iron Mine Door. I am thinking it should be easier to create than the Steel/Silver/Gold Mine Doors using the same Blacksmithing skill. Say 10 Iron Sheets (not in game?), 35 Rivets and a Door Lock. Also should be stronger than a Wood and Rock Mine Door with some interesting design similar to the other metal mine doors. Improves easier with the Blacksmithing skill than the other metal ones too, with iron of course. =Ayes=
