Yep, probably reducing the number of skills soon. Ropemaking and locksmithing also useless beyond a certain skill level now, whats next? Actually, they're still usefull. The higher your skill, the higher the chance that the resulting item is of high ql. Even if it constantly shows 99%.
  2. Rolf is the server dev. He doesn't have all that much to do with the graphics. For that he has volunteers who do the graphics and client stuff for him.
  3. STACKING RARES

Yep, the order is important when combining stuff. Don't remember exactly which way around is it, but you can easily test it by naming one of the items and then try either way (named active or other active).
  4. Of course, "rare" items will not seem so rare at first. But considering their impact on anything is rather low and there's still two more steps of "rareness" which will even be rarer than rare, we can be pretty sure that the highest ranking items will, indeed, be very rare.

  6. Ah, very well then, thanks. Guess I mixed that up, then.
  7. Wurm ofline

I doubt it would stay that way. Something went wrong, which can always happen when transferring changes from a test system to a live system. It just happens.
  8. Didn't you get a CR reduction for leading animals with one of the older patches?
  9. Hmm, whining about whining. Nice one.
  10. Wurm ofline

Log into IRC and ask one of the GMs online there (if there's someone online, that is). They should be able to help you.
  11. HEATHEN! BURN HER AT THE STAKE! *gets torches and pitchforks*
  12. Wurm ofline

Wulfgar, honestly, pull yourself together, man.
  13. Wurm ofline

There has been some problems with a recent update. That can take some time, depending on the severity of the bugs. ETA is: when it's done
  14. Don't take this as an insult. But if you haven't worked with client/server before, you should stop saying things like that. For the client, the server is as good as a black box. It sends stuff in and gets stuff back out. For the client, it's irrelevant what exactly happens server side when accessing the server API. If the client requests from the server a percentage chance if person A is the same as person B, the server could compare IP entries in the database, it could ask a magic 8-ball or summon some mojo. The client would never know. All it knows is the response from the server: "A is definitely B, too". That's how you do client/server programming right. Never ever let the client have more information than it absolutely needs. And never send sensitive data through an unencrypted stream, so it cannot be intercepted. As for the topic, I doubt Rolf would even implement the second idea. Warnings/bans and account ownership is a private thing between the game's company and the gamer him-/herself. To be honest, I don't know of any other game that would give out info like this. And there's a pretty good reason for that. I can understand your reasonings for it, but I'm a strong supporter of keeping private data private. If someone wants to stay anonymous, this right must be granted to them. The only way I see that happening would be if people could review this data themselves and make it available to chosen people, without a chance to fake it. Although this wouldn't in the least solve your problems. SSH tunnels, paypal accounts and e-mail addresses are easy to come by, if you really want to grief someone.
  15. Don't get me wrong. I understand that many people like a challenge and people are actively looking for them. So am I. I don't have a problem with getting some more challenging monsters and animals that roam the countryside (just not things like the pre-nerf nogumps that obliterate you once they've locked onto you without any chance to even get away from them). But this change doesn't introduce any challenge. It just adds annoying elements, which is bad. People love their horses. They're assets, just like weapons, armor, tools. They're either paid for with hard cash or take a painstakingly long time to breed, if you don't already have a farm of horses to get 5 speed trait ones out of it. At least on freedom, there's a lot of people who chose this type of server because they don't want to lose what they worked/paid for. That's the reason I (and I guess most others) are against it. We want to keep our stuff. I'm playing on Freedom. My house ondeed is secure. My stuff ondeed is secure. My boat, my large cart, even my corpse is secure. There's no way for me to lose stuff except if I would be a total idiot or someone would successfully deceive me and steal it when given access. That's the style of play I chose. The interesting bit about all this is the people who are fighting for this change, how they test it, how (not) often it happened and that it wouldn't be such a big deal, but praise it as a wonderful change. Enlighten me. Pray tell, what good does this change for you that you actively fight for it? Why do you like it? I guess you don't have a moment of joy if this happens. And for most of you, you won't even bat an eyelash, no second of adrenaline coming up at this moment. Or am I wrong? Honestly, what is it? I'm against this change because there's the remote chance (and that's a remote chance too much for me) to lose my 5s horse due to a strong animal attacking my horse in a frenzy, hitting three or four times in a row without me being able to react in time. Wurm's PvE system hasn't ever really been challenging. Since I've started playing in 2007, I died maybe 5-6 times. And that was during my first few weeks. Suffice to say, I've been traveling a bit and been out hunting regularly. Change that, and you have my vote. But keep your damn claws from my stuff.
  16. Well, I have 70 FS and it's getting on my nerves, too. Was about to buy a 5 speed horse to finally get around faster. Guess now it's back to a crap horse. *shrugs* The fun part is, it won't make anything at all more challenging for me. I just had the horse to get around faster than on foot. Don't even need the height advantage. I obliterate anything that crosses my path one way or the other anyways.
  17. They're hosted on a forum where people who aren't registered don't have rights to view the images. Better host them on imgur or imageshack or somesuch.
  18. And ql of the resulting sand/dirt/tar.
  19. Yea but entering an enemy's thread, saying "I know how it's done but I won't tell you" while chances are pretty high that there will be at least one person saying how it's done seems absolutely useless.
  20. This change will have quite contrary effect: People will now stockpile even more horses to more easily replace their losses.
