Addendum: The compass works exactly as advertised. Goes about 14 tiles before fading and then comes back almost instantly.

 

Also, just as a tip if anyone orders one of these awesome compasses, your inventory will auto use the suckiest one. (I know, right?!?!) So you'll have to give it to another toon or drop it in a chest or whatever. It'll decay, but you'll have an awesome compass, so who cares. Then, your UI will STILL think it's using the suckiest compass, so you'll have to log out for /lotime.

 

THEN, when you log back in, it'll use your new compass, and you'll be most pleased. I know I was!
