  1. Nvm ... found it. That glaring button would be the Welcome page, wouldn't it?!
  2. Thanks. Just found it. Had to go to the Welcome page, of course!
  3. How do I reset my pw for the game? I don't see anywhere on the launcher or here on the forums. I hope I'm just missing some glaring button somewhere. Help?
  4. Okay, I might give that a try. In the meantime I got the game to install and run but I can't remember my password! lol I don't see how to reset my password for the game anywhere on the launcher screen, or here on the website. Help?
  5. Well, game installed but on attempting to play got: Unable to locate server The error was: <jenn001.game.wurmonline.com>. ..... Just tried again: java.net.UnknownHostException: www.wurmonline.com at java.net.AbstractPlainSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.SocksSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.NetworkClient.doConnect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.openServer(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.openServer(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.<init>(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.New(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.New(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getNewHttpClient(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.plainConnect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.connect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.HttpUtils.followRedirects(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.BasicHttpRequest.doRequest(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.BasicHttpRequest.doGetRequestEX(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.cache.ResourceProviderImpl.checkUpdateAvailable(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.cache.ResourceProviderImpl.isUpdateAvailable(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.cache.ResourceProviderImpl.getResource(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.cache.ResourceProviderImpl.getResource(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.updateFinalLaunchDesc(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.launch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.launchApp(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.continueInSecureThread(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.access$000(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) :/
  6. No, I'm using Firefox. And there is also no stable public 64 bit release of Firefox. Nevertheless the browser has nothing to do with Wurm and what it runs, but trying to configure Wurm to use the 64 bit java has been an exercise in futility and frustration. I give up. I just tried installing the game again by hitting the play button on homepage and it seems to be installing now. Crossing fingers.
  7. I tried the fixes for this 32/64 bit issues I've seen linked here. Finally thought I had it working (after numerous crashes, failing to launch, etc.) and it STILL was using the 32 bit java (yes, I installed the 64 bit java). Finally decided to just use the 32 bit since aside from some graphical stuttering the game had been working sorta okay. But THEN the game wouldn't even launch, or if it did it would crash after hitting "play". Totally deleted the Wurm folder (uninstalled game), to try and reinstall. Now, when I hit the "play" but on the homepage to try and install the game I get an error of "Failed to launch application". Quite frustrating. Running win 7. Ideas? (Aside from just play another game?)
  8. It would really be nice if ... 1.) I could actually hear my dog or pet barking/vocalizing. 2.) Those vocalizations actually warned me of, say, a venerable brown bear (or any hostile), when it gets within a certain distance that is just far enough away I haven't quite aggroed it. This would be especially useful at night, obviously. You could make the "warning" distance window about 3 to 5 tiles or so, perhaps. It's tough enough when you're just starting out, and even later ... an insta death via old hell hound or xyclops is really disheartening. No, really. ;~)
  9. I do not find the GL chat to be filled with trash most of the time. I often read it while working on this or that and find that, predominently, it contains people asking and answering questions that I find useful and informative, frequently about gameplay. Nevertheless, this issue of chat tab customization would go a LONG way to making this game more enjoyable. ANY tab should be able to be exited from or removed from view, and stay that way, until enabled again by the player. Tabs should be fully customizable, and any tab able to be viewed in a single window. ;~)
  10. You all who talk about f2pers "claiming" vast amounts of space via walls seem to forget that things in Wurm decay, and off deed, without skills above 20, they decay pretty fast, indeed. The reason those buildings and walls are built in the first place is its our only method of preventing someone from deeding over what we have worked on (presuming there is an appropriately placed structure connected to said fencing). Still, any paying player may nonetheless perimiter over our walls and structures, thus disallowing us to continue repairing it, because they can afford to irl. Eventually, anyone who is paying can take over the land of an f2per. You try and maintain these vast undeeded fences and structures for awhile and see how long it takes before you decide it's just not worth it. Another option is to try and be on good terms with your neighbors and a beneficial member of the neighborhood, AND to not be a land hog, AND to vocally maintain a dialogue with your neighbors about your plans and wishes, perhaps in exchange for what you may have to offer, even as a lowly f2per. Even considering having paid for premium time, the stigma which is incurred by that premium time running out and suddenly finding one's self a ...gasp!...f2per again ... gets old fast. ;~)
  11. Superb idea! Again, if ever there was a game which lends itself to fashion and customization of appearances it's Wurm. Simply allow "clothing" (tunics, accessory items, dyes, frills, etc.) to be worn over armor, and in addition to it. This would completely solve the pvp issue, and is utterly realistic, and simple. ;~)
  12. With cantilevering and various materials and knowledge many structures are built irl that seem to defy logic and gravity. And, as has been pointed out in various places, "magic" of the type readily accepted in Wurm, also is not found so apparent irl. Don't limit creativity, embrace it, and ride it's leading edge into a world scarcely dreamed of ... yet. ;~)
  13. This is a great idea at it's base. PLEASE don't make it premium only! The server earns money by providing the players a place to do something they want and or need to do (level fight skill, gain hides, items, etc). These "resources" would be distributed into the game as a whole and provide currency via granting more of a reason for people to keep playing, i.e. ... having fun! I mostly play an alt now on Release and love the area for it's sense of wildness. A "nature preserve" like this would go a long ways toward providing such an environment without worry of it's "pristine" wilderness getting paved over by "progress". No need to have an exclusionary mindset. I will likely quit playing this game soon because of the burden of premium to function at earned ability levels. Make play more available, not less, and you will see more players (and money), not less. A wilderness preserve ... GREAT idea! +5. ;~)
  14. I like to close the chat panel from time to time, and sometimes leave it closed for nearly an entire gaming session. At least, allow PMs to stick to the event pane. This way, if someone needs to say something to me they can without the need to have the chat panel open. Better yet, allow drag and drop tabs, including ability to "x" any tab (and have it stayed "x"ed upon subsequent login. And, since we're dreaming of pies in the sky here, resizable detachable panels for all chat windows, including color and font options for text in each individual panel. Thanks so much for all the time and energy you have invested into this amazing game. Looking forward to it's continued phenomenal success! ;~)
  15. Wunderbar idea! Might as well add JUMPING while you're at it! The NEED to jump deservers it's own heading, but fits very nicely here. ;~)
