  1. Then provide some of the main point you feel I have clearly missed. That you fear I may have brushed over or have simply been drowned out by the many opinion and discussions. I will be happy to alter the op and bring things forward. I am only human and may have missed a few points.
  2. Please bring them forward So we need a method of tracking player credibility. How would this work on character sales? More reason are needed to work together to build trust and offer new playera hope to join PvP I agree. How would you like this to be added to the op?
  3. Forcing people to fight is one thing but providing a valuable asset to fight over would create more PvP as it gives more choices at what to prioritize. Having the wl become the recharge alter for champions will also make it a vulnerable piont of contention and provide ample opportunity for champions to be slain when weakened. It also offer a true strategic value, one that may even be used to prevent kingdoms from champ a battle ground for pmks to build round and attempt to push the enemy out and away from.
  4. Updated op with a spoiler of the general agreements and thoughts of this threads. Please correct me if I have missed anything major. I hope to keep this an open minded debate that allows all voices to contribute in a progressive and become possitive influence on the game as a whole. However, it is time to move on to providing solutions to bring back meaningful Pvp and what it may require to Devs to change and build upon. I also urge you to gently reopen the idea of a chaos and epic merger and discuss if this would work and how it should. As this would aid in the consolidation of PvP and separation of pve from PvP. Please keep an open mind and keep it civil. There have been many good points with alot of good back and forth debates that seem to come to well rounded ideas so far in this thread. It has done well to remain on topic and clearly has alot of people interested and passionate about finding solutions. Keep it up.
  5. I think that it is due to many sandbox games generally not offering enough to encourage long term sustainable communities. Plus with the fragility of many of the aspects of leadership and structure are not effective enough to support them to grow. Everything I have state in this thread has been about how the game encourage you to achieve everything alone. Their are no group or community requirements in PvP other then "numbers" a flesh wall beside you to die instead of you. Their need to be better infrastructure to maps that offer points of contention like the wl that give people a requirement to work together but to defend or attack it. Hota is a simple mad rush to grab pillars and secure some ore that most never see the benefits of. Numbers are a method of making people feel Involved but the few get he gains. Unlike back in the day(feel like I"m getting old saying this) the wl had value to everyone as loosing even 1 champ life was painful. You had to do your part to fight, push and defend it. As you got the benefits of the casts and gear to make it easier for everyone to defend it. Each person was offered the equipment, support and help to learn how to PvP because kingdoms had to be better and work better together. Bl failed to do this often and infighting showed just how punishing it could be to not work together having little to show and next to no numbers. We need elements to ignite reasons we should build trust, loyalty and long term allies with this kind of system itnwoukd support the growth of leadership and stability.
  6. I think that we can all agree that the rules cannot be made to cover 2 very different style of play and atmosphere. I think it's also fair to assume that we relatively agree that freedom should have protections in the event of theft as a last defence if adequite game mechanics can not prevent theft. We also seem to have some level agreement that chaos and PvP as general should not be attached to Pve directly. With the ability to off load goes to a safe haven. I would also say that it is fair to assume that we require more meaningful PvP to restablish some level of long term, community driven objective warfare. That will offer people to build trust and allenate those that are malicious and prove they are untrustworthy by the community rejecting them safe havens. Restoration of value of the wl and other new global objective or map control position is on be method to a good step to building meaningful PvP. A good suggestion here(better than my permadeath idea): I would say that the discussion to merge epic and Chaos should be reopened with an open mind and a good look at premium numbers. I do suggest that a method of moving between the freedom and PvP cluster naked via teleport should be in place so People who skill up on PvP can join PvP at their new pleasure. PvP improvements are required, how gm's intervine needs to be light handed and well represented reason why, open to public scrutiny as to build a better game and community.
  7. This all comes back to meaningful PvP. Back then you had champions that mattered and anyone who was one needed people and vice versa. So the guy beside you needed to be geared well or you had a weak link and it all went to ######. Many times I killed people with scale and drake and gave it to people who had lost theirs etc. It all came down to having some valuable to fight over like the wl was. Not quick skirmish to sell ###### and make money move on. You couldn't champ or priest without access to the wl without dying. Champ lives where the value the wl held the focal point. The game has become a quick buck earner, everybody for themselves. Moment like this make people realize. Loyalty matters.
  8. With the situation that happened on chaos as an example and it seems to become a center point of this thread. I see this simply as an extension of PvP and a risk you take on PvP servers for brining in players. Personally I have seen this in eve and it is a lucrative and expect career. That game has much harsher losses than in wurm and it players on a scale wurm could only dream of. The softer this game gets the less players that seem to join PvP. They have done well with updates mainly aimed at freedom. They just require to separate the rule set and support a safer playstyle there and harsher meaningful PvP on chaos and epic(hopefully with a well managed merger).
  9. I agree. My concern is not this specific act but what this intervention means for PvP. The style of play that revolves this and the freedoms of sandbox. Like I have statted in my opthis and the many other things that need to be openly discussed about what is needed to being back meaningful PvP and progressive wars that would incorporate this playstyle and the many others. Without the safety net that is freedom to drag hard made goods back to a safe haven Making them unattainable. Soilidfying what many have state that they require separation in both cluster and rule sets. A side consideration I mention is the splitting of the PvP player base and code across to different variations not of play stretching a small team. What could only appear to breaking point, with quick snappy changes based on quick poll's and no long term plans.
  10. To bring round what I mentioned about the now clash of rules v in-game lore and encouragement does this not also rectify that deception is a tool. An efficient one that is encouraged by libila herself to use. You are expected and required to use all effective means available: Terror, deception, torture, death, sacrifices. Are you ready to join the Horde of the Summoned? Know that if you choose not to, you are against us!
  11. I'm not going to play this game of sniping at my character. I stated a logical answer that simply put an external website is not the responsibility of the Devs to manage. If it was a hack it would be a cyber crime. Please refrain from taking this further as I would like to keep this thread on topic. Thank you for you cooperation.
  12. Freedom should have adequate protection against this. It is built to be a safe environment for relax play. It silly how it always seems to be changed in reverse. PvP is slowly becoming safer than freedom.
  13. You are expected and required to use all effective means available: Terror, deception, torture, death, sacrifices. Are you ready to join the Horde of the Summoned? Know that if you choose not to, you are against us!
  14. Did they go beyond the game a do actually damage that could be considered illegal on a forum that is not and does not have official affiliation with wurm? If so no, they should not have been banned it is not of concern of the Devs it would be a police matter. Cyber crime. However to reafirm what I brought this thread up for is due to this: We expect there to be raiding and looting and killing and slaughtering and pillaging and banter and all that goes with PVP, but infiltrating a PVP village for the purpose of looting it is not acceptable. This is NOT PVP! PVP is raiding a village like a... raider.. or a pirate... or an enemy. Becoming a villager under any pretense to gain the trust of a village and then abusing the permissions they have given you to steal from them or cause harm to them is not in any sense a PVP action! It is an utterly reprehensible action that we do not accept as an expected behavior! GM are now saying how we should play the game, making rules as of what is PvP and what tacitcs we are allowed to use in warfare. These are valid although ruthless actions they are preventable. The game has the tools required to limit player access. Libila herself influences these exact actions.
  15. I agree what other implications does this have? Does this mean that libila needs changed as she activitly encourages deception and theft for your own gains, ban her too?
  16. I agree pve needs different rule set and have mentioned they need to be separated and perfected to the style of play the govern. See above.
  17. This is another element of GM and how they handle things. It's a decision end of.. No transparency, no process just here it is now ###### off. It's harsh and heavy handed with no thought or process of scrutiny. It needs to change, rules to protect people are good. Protect them from harassment, racism and attacks against their sexual Identity. Protect the pve sever to allow a frictionless and soft society where people can relax and play. However, taking away a tool or a style of combat from PvP not only harms it but it also adds questions of did someone pull some strings, a friend of a GM. We know this has happened in the passed but it should be put forward and scrutinized until a good solution and a fair rule set that enables PvP to be a free and chaotic battle ground.
  18. Me? I love raising a deed to the ground. Have done for over 10 years. I expect there are few people who have organised or conducted as many raids as me. Many times I have solo raised even large deeds but this is only my play style I know of many people in this game and other whom love to play spy's and espionage. Sabotage the enemy from within to win the longer war. It comes down to offering more freedom to play in more styles. Once again it all comes down to how soft and meaningless PvP has become. Nobody is used to having everyone taken and war deess constantly smashed anymore. It has become quick skirmishes at HOTA with most of the time people running when out numbered.
  19. Neither, I don't know who got banned. My consideration is as the op stated and every comment I have made since. PvP is being slammed at every turn and now gm's hands continue to take away even more elements from the game with no forethought. Simply creating more work for themselves and the Devs. The only out come I see is a straight up separation of pve and PvP like has been requested for years. Each having a rule set for their style of play. This is only a small portion of the problem I mentioned. It adds to the lack of value in PvP and clearly show that PvP has become so boring and hold little interest due to the lack of meaningful warfare that money and personal gain has taken has taken centrefold. Changes need to be made with both how gm's handle, maintain and implement rules. This includes this situation and how it is part of PvP no matter how it is conducted. The game is about winning and taking all the other guys stuff. Holding land or points of contest are gone, HOTA is a near valueless skirmish over a few kilos of ore on a timer.
  20. If anything it would create more PvP. Unlike a solo who can stealth up or run easy alone a group takes more coordination. Stealthing 5 people, all it takes is on to fail a few times and get caught.
  21. Their is simply no reason to force a different playstyle of PvP on to pve. A simpler solution to combat Alts crossing with boats full of gear would be to create skill requirement. E.G. 30? Mind logic Message "you do not have the skill to chart the waters to chaos"
  22. I discussed this with him at great lengths as we both recognise that something needs to change with champions as at current they feel like a trinket that is an easy accessory to slip on. I myself have suggested permadeath restoration but as we discussed the idea this came further into a better solution with the feedback I received. This is a good place to start to restore some of the aspects and meaningful objectives that PvP lacks. I would like to add in a further adjustment. The number of points you currently have should also reflect your current damage reduction. This is to add more weight to the power of the lights and to build on the idea that they should be contested. Simply put if you have 50% of your points you will only have 30% DR. This will allow contesting people to being that into consideration that the enemies champion would be weakened if he is charging up.
  23. This sadly appears to be the go to response for all GM or any decisions that they refuse to explain. How they reach that decision and the process that follow we do it. People understand, plenty of people say wait... No we don't so those voices get drowned out in the solution that simply places more work on GM hands. It is with great sadness that GM either do not have the time, willingness or power to resolve many of these problems more publicly for it to fall under a wider scrutiny to what is an adequite response. Retuening to this matter particuarly. I personally understand how people can feel about being robbed by their "friends". I myself lost a champ life (when permachamps) to members of my own kingdom. Something at the time more valuable that many things. To put this in to monitery Consideration between the character and the gear on him it would be easily over the vakue of 1000 euro. I did not threat so much but organised a punishment to those that wronged me. With friends I had gather across the boundaries of another kingdom through diplomacy and trust. A slow process that took time and patience but back then people where more sceptical, had recruitment towns and loyalty be game in the value of requirement to survive. Even then their had been people abusing trust, using tactics of this sort and much it was not governed. From all I have seen the more the game governs PvP and inconsistently changes the rule set people are allowed to play by or the expected content they should follow. The less free and meaningful war has become, many changes creating poorly attainable buffs to the elite that leave noobs out to dry. Bring by meaning and reduce the GM impact on PvP. Return it to the virtual reluctantance that Rolf once had to intervine and restore the PvP council once brought about to influence and inform the Dev team of what is required to rebuild PvP and garner new people into it.
