Skill gain formula (well, not really formula)

Recommended Posts

We all know that skill gain is not proportional, but it gets exponentially harder the higher we go.

My interest would be to find out (at least very roughly) what's the formula, how much harder it gets.

In other words: presuming that 90 skill represent 100% of my goal

- when I am at 70 skill, at what percent of my goal I am? 50%, 25%, 10%?

- what about at 50 skill?

- what about at 30 skill?

In other words: if for reaching 90 skill I need to grind X hours (example 2,000), how many hours I need to grind for 70/50/30?

Depends on the skill. Some skills are much harder than the others, some skills can be only gained x times a day etc...

Harder would mean more hours, but I guess the proportions would be the same.

And referring to the grindable skills, not those with CDs.

AFAIK "difficulty" doubles every 10 skill points. If we assume ideal situation (skill ticks all the time or similar amount of times), then:

90 goal "value": 511

10 skill: 1 (0,19%)

20 skill: 3 (0,59%)

30 skill: 7 (1,37%)

40 skill: 15 (2,94%)

50 skill: 31 (6,07%)

60 skill: 63 (12,33%)

70 skill: 127 (24,85%)

80 skill: 255 (49,90%)

Skill gain ends up getting skewed based on what your doing.  There is some correlation between the weight of the item you are imping/created vs the amount of skill gain you get from it.  Also there is the amount of stamina you have when you finish the skill timer.

Well, presuming ideal situations, like improving same 1,000 knives from level 1 to level 90, always improving them from -5 to +5 of your skill level.

So same type of action (improve), on same type of items, with the only variable being the level itself.

Skillgain curve based on HFC.  Should give you an idea of how much time one level is compared to another.

chart cut off at 90 to show the curve better.

so using hfc data it would be

x hours to 50 skill

x * 2 to 70 skill

x * 3.5 to 80

x * 5 to 90

Thank you both, but mmm... quite different estimations...

In MamaDarkness estimation 50 skill is ~20% of 90 skill.

In Warlander estimation 50 skill is ~6% of 90 skill.
