  1. UK, Sky and I'm using the inbuilt card on my motherboard. I can ping off the server perfectly fine, sometimes I lose 10% of packets. It could be my ISP is filtering out certain types of packet though, however that wouldn't explain the intermittent nature of the problem. Additionally while experiencing the problem ingame I can still ping the server perfectly fine, along with network monitor not receiving any packets for the client process makes it seem that it's a problem with the server rather than the client.
  2. Your suggestion looks simple on the surface but seems like it'd be a major overhaul to do it properly. The easiest method for the player would be to show all actions you have the tools to complete when right clicking an item or tile, and trying to use the current activated item or the highest QL tool for the job. The game already does this but displays options for tool-less or the current active tool's options only. It also makes some sense, if I want to farm a tile I already know I want to use a rake, making me select the rake is slightly pointless. The problem with this method is activation would still be necessary to create items from specific QL materials. Some people will be angry because it takes "complexity" out of the game, I'd say that the original system is complexity for the sake of complexity and doesn't add anything to the game. It's fairly late, I'll think on it more and hopefully respond with other alternatives later.
  3. Receive drops to 0 yes. There are some confusing issues brought up by this though. If the client isn't receiving any data it should throw up the disconnection screen, which it does not in this case. The problem occurs after a connection has been made and responses received. These issues point to a problem with data transfer but don't tell us what that problem could be. It could be a number of network related issues, some not caused by the game itself.
  4. I'm sorry but i'm not sure if you're joking. Wurm isn't special in any way you seem to think. There are a few unique aspects, but it contains the core elements to pretty much every RPG ever as well as some elements key to MMOs, to say otherwise is to be wilfully ignorant. I'm not sure if you meant to but you quoted from my reply to Tekari, who was arguing that because MMOs have many more spells than wurm they have action bars built in, that was why I pointed out they also have Ctrl and Alt bars which I am most definitely not advocating.
  5. Which is why most MMOs generally have Alt and Ctrl action bars as well, that is not what i'm suggesting. My problem is that it turns completing a task into "find and seek" for newbs, any RPG UI that forces you to actively look for something you need is a bad one. Additionally it just feels bad activating tools with the mouse even after finding them.
  6. I don't play WoW. I have however played several games that have been released after 1990 and I assure you its quite a common occurence in game design (not just in MMOs) to not make your UI as annoying as possible, especially for new players.
  7. Sounds like a nice addition. Would need a new model for the campfire and "cooking" textures for animals. +1 Have you considered what would be done with the non-edible parts? maybe require "preparation" beforehand with some butchery skillgain.
  8. Came here thinking it was a system for connecting newbs with more experienced players, left disappointed. -1
  9. I like the idea but I don't see it happening with the current playerbase.
  10. Sorry I read your reply and meant to respond, forgot about it I guess xD. Running Vista with an ATI Radeon HD5450 and the latest java (64bit iirc). It still seems to happen randomly, I haven't tested with multiple clients yet though.
