Error while loading new client.

Downloaded the new client and now get an error while trying to load the game. I then deleted all the packs and redownloaded with no luck and get the same error.

One of the files is corrupted, if it happens repeatedly it might be happening during the transfer...

Delete theme/Winter/trees.jpg from graphics.jar (open it in 7-zip, winzip, winrar, etc) and the client will patch in a new copy of just that file. If it still doesn't work, we'll have to do some more checking.

Nothing but errors. I tried your suggestions with no luck and no new log file. Turned off firewall and anti-virus for a moment to see if that would change anything for updating. No luck there either. Can't even update the packs now.

Tried the unstable client. It downloads the sound pack fine, but get: "Update Failed! (Error: Error writing new zip file)" while downloading the graphics pack.

When I try the regular client, I get this error: "Update failed! (Error: Corrupted pack, redownloading...)". Then it just sits there and doesn't seem to be "redownloading" anything.

Went from getting an error trying to launch the game to now getting errors trying to update the client.

It's odd since I've never had any issues with this game for 2.5 years. Now no luck with the new client. I've changed nothing on my pc.

Does this mean i simply should wait until the updates are working ? Because i have the same problem as the topicstarter, is there a subforum for informations when the update is working again ?

Still no luck. I tried reinstalling java, but that didn't fix the problem.

Btw, when I try to do the 'verify packs' thing, I always get "Error: remote data had incorrect crc". Then I try to redo the packs, verify again and it just finds another one. Keep doing it over and over and it just errors out on all sorts of graphics models. After retrying packs, it will still error out on the same models.

Okay, give it another try with the new unstable (2123), and after you've tried verify packs and it fails, post the console log.

Have you tried manual download, by the way? Did the same problem occur?

Manually installed the packs and tried the regular client. The loading bar nearly finishes but I then got this same error the 3 times I tried it. I then tried the unstable client and got seemingly the same error.

Sighhhh...  well I decided to try reinstalling the client. Opened javaws -viewer and removed the wurm selections there. Now I just get the "Unable to launch application error" right away after trying to load the client.

The message on the top of the error window says  -  Error: Unable to load resource: http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmres.jar

I'm about to give up on this entirely lol.

Since it happens on manual download as well, the problem seems to lie in the network. Data corruption, or something is rewriting it.

E.g. this string doesn't actually appear in that model. The separate strings "local" and "1.66667" do, however.

When all else fails it is possible to download the packs at another location, e.g. a friend's place and transfer them using a USB stick. It's quite the hassle, though. :)
