Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) This is very much needed for mmo servers where the skills are just x2 or maybe even x1. A FULL SYSTEM, CALCULATED, AND THOUGHT OUT, ON HOW TEACHING, READING, AND WRITING WOULD WORK! READING AND WRITING 2 new skills will be adding, Reading and Writing. Writing will be a subskill of Reading -Reading = Affects what quality of books & scrolls you can read. you can be taught, or you can grind by "Study Written Paper", or you can grind it by writing. You can only read a book at level 20. and you can only read books whos quality is that or more than 100 minus your reading skill, divided by 1.5. so if Player A has a skill of 45, he can only read books quality 36 and up. 100 - 45 = 55. 55 divided by 1.5 = 36. -Writing = Writing level will affect the quality of a Written Page that you can make. you need atleast 20 to make a readable book. Reading Skill can be raised by writing or studying written papers, scrolls, and books. 100 - [Reading Skill] divided by 1.5 = minimum book quality you can read. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Books & Scrolls Books would be a new item which is crafted by a player, each individual skill has their own book, and making books, scrolls & written paper depends on your writing level. - there will be a book for every skill. Each book will requires 25 Written Paper & a Quill Pen . Each Written Paper requires Paper + quill pen. the quality needs to be atleast 20 to be readable. It takes 10 minutes to make each Written Paper. Book = 25 Written Paper + Quill Pen Written paper = Paper + Quill pen Paper = Wood Scrap + Lye (: p) 30 Quill Pen= Ink Sac + metal brush What do they do? A player can read them. Every action gives 1 skill point. Every Action takes 10-30 minutes depending on the books quality. a book will only allow you to level 75% of the writer's level. Quality = Action time 10-30 minutes 1 Skill point per action Level of book crafter = 75% of max leveling by reading that book so if player A = lvl 0 fighting skill reads player Bs Fighting Book, and Player B = lvl 80 fighter, he can only learn up to lvl 60. If Player A then buys a book from Player C, another Fighting Book, but Player C is LvL 50. he cannot learn anything. but if Player A then buys another book from Player D, and Player D is lvl 100 fighter, Player D can learn up to LvL 75. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SCROLLS Scroll = Quill pen + Written Paper Writing lvl = Scroll quality Scroll Quality = Action Time (10-30 minutes) a Player can only learn 1 Skill point from a Scroll. if a player already read that scroll, it will say "You already read this scroll" a Player can only level 75% of the scroll crafters Scroll subject level. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Teaching A new skill will be added. Teaching. Teaching can be done to the Teachers team who is 5 tiles near, or to a single person. Teaching can be done by right clicking the player, then clicking Teach Directly, or by managing your team, then teaching a subject. Each action is 10-30 minutes depending on the teachers skill in teaching. Each Direct Teaching action teaches 1.5 skill point to the learner. Each Team Teaching action Teaches 1 skill point to the learner. a Player who leaves the 5 tile radius from the teacher will stop being directed on the teaching, and the teacher must stop and reteach or he will not be teached. People can only learn the percentage of the teachers' teaching skill x 1.5 (if teacher skill is 45, you multiplicate times 1.5, and that is max percentage a player can learn from him from any given skill (67.5) . but the max percentage you can learn is 85% from the teacher. So Player A is a teacher. Player A's Skill in fighting is 80,but his skill in teaching is 45. he is teaching a group of 5 players. these 5 players all have fighting 10. he clicks manage team, and clicks Teach, then he selects Fighting skill. itll take 21 minutes for each action/skillpoint. 10 minutes pass and 1 student leaves the 5 tile radius, he is no longer being teached, the 4 students still are being teached. 11 more minutes pass and the action is completed, the 4 students now have fighting 11. they repeat this process 43 times, and "LETS SAY" player A did not gain skill, but he normally would. the 4 student would now have 54 lvl in fighting and becouse their teacher is only lvl 45 in teaching, they can not learn any more from him unless he raises his teaching level. becouse 67.5% of the subject's skill is the max he can teach becouse 45 x 1.5 = 67.5%. and 67.5% of 80 is 54. SO THERE YOU GO. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ( YOU CANNOT LEARN MORE OF A SUBSKILL THAN A SKILL, IT WILL SAY "You do not understand whats left of this scroll/book" or "You do not understand what [Teachername] is trying to teach you") Edited October 30, 2015 by revann1

I dislike the idea, which neither makes me a troll or incapable of understanding the idea. No need to try and bash anyone who disagrees with you, that'll only make you seem like a ignorant and egocentric blockhead.
Posted November 1, 2015 One of the coolest, yet worst, ideas I've read for WO.-1. By no means should you gain skills by reading a book, or anything outside of actually doing said skill. Sorry, but no. Great idea for a WU server maybe.
Posted November 2, 2015 Well, i like the idea. How much you learn should be tied to quality of the book though, high q ones should give at max 5 points, and be readable only once.Would make for a nice trade option. Offering well written (high ql, which would require good skills in creating book, and high skill in whatever skill its about) for coins or items. Shouldnt be OP at all.
