Unstable Client Crash

Hello everyone!
 
Tried the new Java 8 unstable Client and it crashed with error "null"

Same, normal client works, unstable crashes on start. <Null> is the reason given. And my version of Java 8 is up to date.

The popular linux variant ubuntu doesn't provide java 8 packages as far as I know (icedtea) and I fear that installing java 8 from somewhere outside the ubuntu repositories could possibly invite  troubles, both for wurm and for other java dependent programs. So would it be possible to let people keep the java 7 version if they so wish until ubuntu/icedtead provides packages of java 8?
