  1. Genuinely, is there any reason that the 25% skill gain for POK has to stay? I really think ANY flat skill gain increase for POK is too strong in general (for both pve & pvp).

With the new treasure maps and future exploration update (pt 2), POK bonuses at level 11 instead be changed over to those, like % increased chance to find treasure maps and or % increased benefits from the deity holy sites. I feel like this would at least stay somewhat true to the "lore" of the path being knowledge and keep all the paths unique.

I think flat increases to skill gain should be accessible to everyone regardless of their path choice and could be implemented in the future some other way.

Sad to see champions go. Wanted to become one myself someday.

    Understandable though.

OP mentioned that they'll be rebalanced and reintroduced in the future, so don't lose hope on that.

I truly welcome the change. After resubbing one of my toons just a few days ago following a year-long hiatus, this is the kind of thing that will keep me subbed. Small steps in the right direction IMO.

  3. I agree with the points about priests feeling strong right now, which may change over time due to body stats increasing. I also know that as body stats increase, so will priests' channeling skill. Do they perfectly cancel out? I don't know. I hope shield bashing interruption and the tangleweave changes go live most of all, as I feel they'll make combatting priests feel somewhat better.

Just throwing it out there: If they removed the flat CR bonuses to lib & mag and added something else, would we see more Fo and Vyn battle priests? Does the CR bonus matter that much?

  4. This stinks! I was trying to get through the last of my sleep bonus before the 10 hour gift. Hope these two hours don't go down the drain... :(

(Edit: Looks like things are working again! :) )

Should just make this roll in with the Armour Smithing title mechanic, boost it, whatever it was that was done.  If not, it will screw with characteristic gains with crafting things.

Also, I think none of this is needed.  A mentality needs to be changed instead. 🥳

If crafters spend less time on regears, they can spend more time skilling other skills that are arguably better for characteristics. Tying it to the skill title would be great, but if it takes more time to implement by the devs, I'd rather wait for that change and roll with this one.

  6. I agree with loot destruction similar to EVE Online's system. The number can be tweaked, but in the long run it will increase the value of gear.

If there is loot destruction, I think PVP/PVE cross economy would be beneficial, but

    1) battlecamps / treasure chests should start dropping some coin to offset the loot destruction (remove foraging/botanizing/selling for coin from pvp server, make chests/battlecamps pull from nearest kingdom coffers?)

    2) make PVP the only source/better source of moonmetal.

That way PVPers can buy from the dedicated crafters on PVE and their pockets won't hurt so dang much.

  7. Sme is right about if you aren't setup for both playstyles you're penalized. If I were a priest on PVP, if I ever obtained SB on PVP I would never be able to put it towards building my crafting skills if I were a crafter on PVE. I really think having separate pools of SB discourages players from partaking in both pve & pvp.

Yes, I PVP.. Yes I'd prefer to earn SB as if I were sleeping on the server my character currently isn't logged in at.. and it would encourage me to pay for a deed on freedom and partake in the freedom economy. Many other pvpers would do the same. It would probably make the game seem more lively overall.

The Defiance server is more like Epic in terms of items not transferring (rip hota statue sales 😭).
If your argument is that skills transfer now so it's not like Epic .. it seems hypocritical since everyone seemed to stand behind a FAIR skill transfer from epic to freedom according this thread:

  8. I certainly would think this would add to the immersion of the game. Local interactions would feel better. Less time staring at the local tab .. and more time watching a player pull you around in their cart, keeping those newbie eyes on the road and learning landmarks. Agreeing here with what Wilczan said about focusing on the environment.

In addition to an on/off toggle, maybe a default option so that if there are 20+? toons in local then chat bubbles turn off automatically and turn back on when the player count conditions are met.

    +1

The gem is Path of Exile tho. Thats a real goodie.

Now you can go try them and report back if they are free to play or not. :)

open steam, select free to play, see tons of such. most popular ones don't have PtW and have skinshops only.

I'm not sure I've ever played an MMO where you couldn't purchase an advantage or PtW .. The definition of free to play has changed over the years. Depending on how you define it, Wurm Online is F2P.

Path of Exile is a great game, however ... VERY early on into gameplay Path of Exile players will find out they're hindered by their lack of "bank" space, and must pay real currency in order to have larger storage. It may not seem like it at first, but it certainly is an advantage as hoarding good items/currencies to sell in the game is one of the fastest ways to progress in end-game. Imagine playing Wurm with nothing but a large cart and needing to pay for more space .. no type of item is "too large" for the default banking space in Path of Exile compared to a large cart, but you get the idea.

Warframe is also a great game, but you can buy the majority of rare crafting materials off the platinum (in-game premium currency) store. Advantage. Not to mention the trading of platinum for end-game blueprints you'd typically have to grind for. Platinum = WO silver.

Most (as I can't speak for all) of the other games on the Steam F2P list have some sort of premium or pay for an advantage option. Albion, Crossout, War Thunder, World of Warships, etc, ALL have premium or premium-like services for paying players. Googling "Free to play MMO" doesn't help too much either. I've never played Neverwinter or StarTrek Online, but everything from TERA, to Runescape, to EVE Online ALL have premium or pay-for-advantage services.

    As far as I know there are two major ways to monetize an MMO;
    1) Buying outright with no in-game monetization .. Guild Wars 1 was a good example, but even Guild Wars 2 and World of Warcraft (not classic.. yet?) have headed toward a pay-for-advantage direction.
    2) F2P with in-game monetization aka paying for an advantage.
and of course many games have a hybridization of the two types such as Black Desert.

    Just my 0.02

Edit: I also want to add that I think games in general are pretty fairly priced. I'll continue paying for these products because I enjoy them. Only meant to share my experiences with these other games to quell any potential for misinformation! 😅
