  1. speaking personally I completely and totally disagree with those statements.
  2. please read very carefully Most of my games in Steam have a single player and a multiplayer option. this is the ONLY one in which I have to put in an IP address to play a single player game Given that currently I came home one day having made ZERO CHANGES THE DAY PRIOR, the game suddenly no longer would load and now the launcher doesnt even load at all. please believe me when I tell you that the vast majority of the good Early Access games and full release games that have a single player component do not have this issue AND they do not make it as such that someoene who is not completely clear on what they are doing can not screw something up. Why is it unreasonable to ask for that? Here is a story that might help you understand A leaky valve in an RV was to be replaced. The common mans understanding is that one could go to the hardware store and buy a valve and it should work. If you asked a community of RVers they would most likely say 'yeah makes sense...simple' only problem is in motion those valves break which is why they make RV specfic valves. Point? I might be able to get the thing working with the help of some amatures but where it my level of confidence that 6 months later I will not loose all my play time work becusae I accidently exposed myself to the entire internet? just because the paint is on the door and looks nice doesnt mean its going to stay there.. depends on the proper paint
  3. I think they do not have much gaming experience outside of wurm. I think they are not aware that the vast majority of single to multiplayer games are literally one-click to play the single player version. I also think a lot of them have networking and IT experience so they have confidence that what they are doing is correct (even though in some cases it might not be). I however do IT stuff for a living and I am exhausted from problem solving all day long and I dont want to invest my game time into just more of that. If I am going to invest my free time into IPConifg I will instead learn Blender and do some modding which is what I have been wanting to do for a long time. why these concepts are so hard for them to understand I dont know. I think I say it pretty clearly. oh and out of all my steam games as it turns out this is the only one in which the launcher doesnt even launch do even if I wanted to poke around with IPs I cant.
  4. thanks but its not what I am looking for. I played the Online version for about 2 years, if I wanted a community and an online experience I would play the online version. I also do not have the confidence that a fix that is suggested by a community of players is going to fix that issue and possible other issues that might occur 6 months down the line in which I would lose all my play time work. What I would LIKE to see happen but I can tell now that its not, that the community come to and agreement and perhaps ask as a collective that the Wurm Launcher be made simplier. pending that change I am not playing this game because I need a high level of confidence (like I do in my other single/multiplayer games) that I will not get hacked or loose all my playtime work. I do not understand why this is hard for so many here to understand. The only reason I can think of is that many here dont play other games so they are not aware of how there are tons of games out there that make switching from single player to multiplayer experience extreemly easy
  5. PLEASE look at my post history. In fact PLEASE read it all multiple times that would help you and others understand
  6. I keep saying the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over again and people like yourself just refuse to pay attention to this one important detail. PLEASE pay close attention to this point. I do not want to solve MY problem I want the problem solved If I buy a car that keeps breaking down I dont want the manufacture of the car to tell me how I can fix it myself! I want to manufacture of the car and the community to understand that they should fix the problem so that others do not encounter the same issue. There is no way in all of hell that I am going to take the advice of a random poster on the internet on how to fix my specific problem only to loose 6 months of game time work later because of some detail that was missed. I do not have the confidence in this design that I will not yet again loose all my playtime work later which is why I HAVE moved on to other games but I stay here because, to be frank, people who do not understand me engage me.
  7. not paying attention to anything I have said aside for the moment I think the vast majority of my Steam games have a LAN and multiplayer server option and I know at least a handful of them one can play offline becuase of STEAM OFFLINE MODE WHICH MAINTAINS YOUR DRM also...out of all those games that have a LAN/multiplayer server option this is the ONLY GAME that has broken for single player game. 7 Days to Die? has a server? yup. single player? one click Rising World? has a server? yup. single player? one click Space Engineers? has a server? yup. single player? one click Farming Simulator? has a server? yup. single player? one click AND most of those games are early access games. Wurm is a great game, its one of my all time favorite, they just need to fix the single player startup process is all stop being so defensive about all this
  8. you are one of the most rude people I have ever encountered on a forum. not the worst, but close
  9. you have completely and totlally missed multiple points I have made. I dont think you are even reading my posts just replying randomly to them
  10. what you dont know is that I have played Wurm Online for about 2 years and have countless hours in the game. what you call 'trolling' is me disapointed that my WU game does not run at all whatsoever with me having done nothing. I just came home one day and it no longer worked. That is what you call 'trolling'
  11. your kinda rude on multiple levels that takes some skill
  12. to be completely frank for a game of its age and for a game that has a fairly high entry point to just get started the review scores are pretty high
  13. I look at new games pretty much every night just out of curiosity and I can tell you that this doesn't mean much. All that matters to the game browser is 'what is the meta score on steam' and 'how many reviews total are we looking at. and as someone (myself) who didn't fall asleep during his statics class I know this is nearly all you need
  14. I think its more like this Risk of Steam going down and you loosing all your work: low Risk of your machine crashing and you not having backup: medium Risk of some random guy who got excited about WU pulling up a server and then taking it down 3 months later when something more exciting comes around: high
  15. now that just gave me an idea. I might do that it would be better than making my personal gaming machine a single player server with the way they have designed it
  16. very well said...exactly. Now if they had an option on a game like this to backup/copy the database to your players then it wouldn't be a big deal but regardless there is a huge difference between loosing 6 months of work and getting disconnected during an FPS session
  17. who said anything about a popup menu? I think its just reasonable to get rid of 'Windowed Mode' as it doesn't do anything and one should be using 'resizing windowed mode'
  18. I say again for the third time. Regardless of what the developers did we are trying to suggest that given there are games on Steam that do not require an internet connection to connect to that the developers did not HAVE to do this. that also should be painfully obvious to anyone who has paid attention
  19. you might not wurmiams might not but I assure you those reviews are important. When I look for a game that appears interesting to me if the overall score is mixed or below AND there are over 1000 reviews I immediately look for something else. I adore wurm but a lot of wurmians are a bit stuck in the year 2000. There are a TON of great building games out there now
  20. yes.... 'this game is not for hand holding' and 'this game should not have 'windowed mode' and 'resized widowed mode' if 'windowed mode' is really completely useless in the first place. are not the same thing It takes a bit to get people around here to focus.
  21. 7 days to die you can play in Steam with zero access to the internet. Steam has an offline mode Oh and by the way...StarMade single player experience? ONE CLICK
  22. this is getting exhausting The chance of you loosing your private game on your private machine because of a crash in which you didn't save your files is LESS than some random guy who thru up a server and 4 weeks later decided to shut it down. major eye roll there.
