  1. The above information has solved my issue: For others here is a detailed breakdown (For Windows). 1. go to Windows icon and in the search bar type in CMD 2. This should bring up a dos like console window 3. type in Ipconfig /all 4. find an IP that should say (preferred) next to it which for me is the 'IPV4 Address' 5. Open up the Wurm Unlimited Dedicated Server app which is likely on your desktop 6. go to 'Local Server' Tab 7. within the 'Local Server' Table find the '1. Server Settings' 8. within that section of '1. Server Settings' find 'Server External IP Address and put in the address from step 4 9. Go to the next section labeled '2. Advance Server Settings' put in the same address from step 4 into 'Server Internal IP Address' I think that is it. now if ones system is having other issues and or other things need to be set clearly such items are not listed here.
  2. Thanks I will try that tonight. do I need to change the port number as when a dynamic IP changes (assuming that a dynamic IP change is in fact my root issue)
  3. Second time this has happened. The first time I ended up re-installing the game. Now I cant because I have multiple weeks invested. I did ipconfig /all put in the IP for Advance Server Settings (tab) -> Server Internal IP Address still crashes. is there a different 'Server Internal IP Port' that I should be using? Wurm Wiki does not have information for this issue. please help. I use this as a personal server only. My IP changes because its Dynamic IP address
  4. yes thanks for your sympathy on my lost game!
  5. re-installed game created a dedicated server with my validated IP started game, people in game or NPCs? not sure but 4 people in game cant reopen the launcher while in game to verify if people are in my game or not manage server again, unclicked dedicated server server doesnt launch error is posted in console window which can be found at Wurm.log.0 (error 1) below deleted folder called Adventure and replaced that folder with my backedup folder game loads but all the work I did on that game session before troubles began are gone. Sorry but I think the launcher and the single player setup needs to be more stable before I can risk playing and loosing my work again. I hope such fixes are high priority but it appears from the latest update that its not. take care I will have to play something else ERROR 1: java.lang.Exception at 6. ironically I am not doing this to play just doing to do figure it out and all the various variables. I have a backup of my previous game so curious if I can put that DB in and load that game. I would like them to keep the launcher open while in game not sure how one would know if someone is logging in or not.
  7. So I re-installed the game. hit 'dedicated server' validated the IP started server from LAN joined game. when I spawn there were 4 people in local and no way (that I can tell) to reload the launcher to see if those were real people or NPCs
  8. I think the crash is happening below although not sure. I cant replicate with reliability because of the update. I will post anything new that comes up after the update assuming my launcher will start and or if it posts an error even if it doesnt. java.lang.Exception at com.wurmonline.server.Server.shutDown(Server.java:3276) at com.wurmonline.server.Server.run(Server.java:1731) at java.util.TimerThread.mainLoop(Unknown Source) at java.util.TimerThread.run(Unknown Source) launcher never loads and no new entries made in logs.
  9. I think the quote below is the closest thing we know at the moment Posted 14 November 2015 - 03:53 AM Sorry I missed this post, have you been able to run the game yet? Can you post a DXDIAG, also look in the Wurm folder for a file named HS_ERR_PID and console.charactername.log and post ALL of those that you can find. and/or Logs/Wurm.log.0 in what ever map folder u are using..
  10. yeah for the long term I would refrain from trying to get XP to work on an application because in the long run there are going to be many compatibility issues. Microsoft has been trying to get rid of XP for so long they might even just make XP machines blow up to get it done
  11. I have exact same issue, I will look for these files namely because the curiosity is killing me!
  12. Mine was doing the same thing until eventually a double click just did nothing. what is interesting is that the change from 'sometimes showing 'running' to not showing anything involved zero changes to my machine. I could debug for more information it but I need to know where the console window dumps its text if at all and thus far I haven't found it. Because the bug itself has me curious I think I will uninstall the game, reinstall and try to replicate the error once I learn where the errors are posted. Why I haven't done this is because going down this road to me just leads to modding because I personally don't want to play the game bad enough to go thru all this trouble. so its either A. play a different game. B. Study the launcher or C. Learn Blender for moddding. undecided
  13. Is 'unlimited technical issues' forum only related to things broken specifically or what? not clear why this thread was moved here
  14. sorry my confused response please ignore
  15. When one hits 'start server' (sorry I cant load my launcher at the moment to verify if that is the exact term and I forget) a console window pops up and it starts the server, as soon as the server is loaded that console window closes. I need to know where the text that shows up in that console window is stored OR if there is a way I can get it to dump to a text file each time it does run. Thanks
