The Rising [WIP]

Recommended Posts

This story is meant to explain how the four first human gods gained godhood, how the civilizations formed in ancient days, and how the humans and other races arrived to the world of Wurm. If you are confused about the context of this, read this page: http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Lore. The events occurring in this story happened before the events on that page took place.

(BNT Stands for Before New Time. The years go in reverse up to 0NT, which is the year that starts off the lore page on the Wurmpedia.)

??? BNT - ~10,000 BNT -  The dragons dominated Wurm, and the humans and other sentient races had not arrived yet. The dragons were led by the great Wurm, the father of all drakes and the original ruler of all of the world of Wurm, which was named after him. The Wurm ruled his world with an iron claw, making sure the world was his and his alone. His kin lacked the intelligence he had, and relied on his leadership in times of strife.

~9,000 BNT - Jackal, the trickster god, spoke to the Wurm. He told him that  all was well and his power would never fail, so he might as well rest. The Wurm, arrogant and prideful as he was, believed the Jackal to be telling the truth, and decided to sleep. And so, the Wurm slept a deep sleep for thousands of years, in a hidden cave in the lands of what is now called Lómaner.

~9,000-~7,500 BNT -  While the Wurm was sleeping, the Jackal pulled several mischievous moves. He opened portals between the worlds of Valrei and Wurm, and then convinced the Nymphs, an all female race that was then only present in Valrei, to settle the lands of Wurm. He also opened portals from distant worlds unknown, bringing in the humans, gnomes, badgermen, slugmen, goblins, hobgoblins, trolls, forest giants, kyklops, Canis (from Jackal), and the mantis. These races soon began to populate the word of Wurm in their own seperate regions.

Note: The goblins, trolls, forest giants, and kyklopses settled in a region of the world known as the Circle Sea. This is where the islands are that the game Wurm Online takes place in. Humans originally were from a region of the world called Carnage (or “The Old World of Wurmâ€), which they shared with the nymphs and the gnomes. It isn’t till much later in history that humans discover portals to the Circle Sea and begin settling there.

~7,500 - ~5,000 BNT - The races in Carnage flourished. As ages went on, humans began to dominate the land, dragons were slain, and the gnomes were brought to extinction. However, legend says a group of gnomes survived the human onslaught by hiding in a refuge. The humans built many proud cities, while the nymphs hid deep in the countryside, rarely seen and thought of as legendary.

4,454-4,450 BNT - In the forests of Jenn, the forest tribes of man were at constant war. The tribes came to a council at a lake known as the Lake of Camel, to discuss terms of peace. A nymph arose from the waters, and pointed out  a man named Novath, stating he should be the leader of all of the tribes of Jenn. This brought more conflict amongst the tribes over the coming years, Novath's own tribe supporting him as the leader. Eventually, Novath's tribe conquered all the others, and the great Jenn civilization was born.

4,245 BNT - In another region of the world, the Mol, Galiv, and Rehan tribes were at constant war. The Galiv tribe grew to be an amazing power, and the Mol and Rehan tribes knew that they were about to be beaten. Instead of allowing themselves to be destroyed, they allied, and ended up defeating the Galiv tribe. In the final battle against the Galiv, both leaders of the Mol and Rehan tribes were slain. Rezmen, a young warrior who led both tribes to victory during that battle, claimed to be the leader of both tribes united, calling himself the chief of Mol-Rehan.

4,023 BNT - The dragonslayer Hrogan Krath, stumbles upon the cave of the Wurm, and discovers the largest dragon he has ever seen. The Wurm wakes, and seeing that his kin has been slain by new races that came to the world while he is sleeping, becomes extremely angry. He directs his rage towards mankind, and calls out for all dragons of the world to gather.

4,023-4,015 BNT - The Dragon War Occurs. The Wurm leads his kin in battle against the races that have settled in the world that was once owned by him and his race. Thousands of humans are slain in the fierce fiery battles that commence. The Wurm and his followers prove to be victorious in many occasions, and the humans and other races are brought to near extinction.

4,015 BNT - A council is made between surviving leaders of the humans and the nymphs. Present in this council was Magranon,  the human emperor of Mol-Rehan, and his daughter Libila (Yes Libila is the daughter of Magranon!). Also present is the queen of the nymphs, Vynora. From the lands of Jenn came Fo, a prominent human druid. There were also many other important humans and nymphs that have since been forgotten. The council decided that in order to defeat the dragons, the Wurm must be slain. Magranon, Libila, Fo, and Vynora go forth on this mission.

The four champions of humanity and the nymphs approach the Wurm, and challange him to a duel that will determine the winner of the dragon war. After a fierce battle, the Wurm is slain, and he flees to Valrei. Walnut, seeing how the humans were so couragous, appears to the four, and offers them cheries from the Tree of the Gods. And so, the four attained godhood, and then became rulers of their seperate regions of the world.

4,015 BNT – 3,897 BNT - The four gods rule their seperate regions of Wurm.

3,897 BNT - Libila becomes greedy, and joins the Blacklight. She declares war on the Whitelight gods, bringing turmoil to the lands of man. Her followers become known as the Horde of the Summoned.

3,897 – 3,050 BNT - The God Wars occur, as the the three whitlight gods fight libila, bringing many people to poverty.

3,050 - 2,545 BNT - Magranon makes claims on land that belongs to Jenn, sparking war between them. The God War becomes a three way conflict: Libila  vs Magranon vs Fo (men of the east) and Vynora (The Nymphs).

2,545 BNT - The Rising occurs. The four gods meet at at Mount Isfoma, and they fight. Their power cancels each other's out, and the four are all defeated, rising to Valrei. The God Wars end.

1,242 BNT – In northern Kellon, a group of humans known as the Ageless forms. Their goal is to gain godhood in any way possible.

1,156 BNT - The Ageless discover dark powers through meditation, and perform a ritual that blocks out the gods from Valrei. Then, they perform blood rituals that gave them eternal life, at the price of consuming human blood.

1,098 - 956 BNT - The Ageless, now many in number, begin to take over the world, one civilization at a time. They succeed in taking control of all of the Old World of Wurm, and farm humanity for blood.
