The game is starting to look like a point-and-click adventure for toddlers who are learning all their animals and colours.

Just look at all the latest pmk art. Goodbye immersion or at least following a theme. 😆

+1 for a phobia mode that lets us select and turn off particularly off-putting things we'd rather not see.

  2. This would be a nice sort of commitment; something to show that the game isn't 99.7% dead on the development side.

God only knows, I think too, Darnok, the suggester-royale, is gonna go horse from screaming suggestions if someone doesn't do some additions to the game.

  3. I just disbanded and would be glad to perm buildings over to a new owner. It's a great, seaside spot with great neighbors, pens with lots of enchanted grass, house, guard tower, and a mine with built in storage buildings and lots of good veins still available.

Give me a shout if you want it.

  4. I'm in need of help moving from one server to another. It will require quite a few trips, but the trip is not a terribly long one. If you'd like to make some silver and have ships for moving, give me a shout.

  5. Wurm road map? As in news of soon-coming VR and goblin camps? The road maps used to be something to look forward to til you realize half of it won't even happen.

  6. The problem here is that there are 2 converse ways attendees can choose to close a rift, and each of those ways defeats the efforts of those pursuing the alternative.

Get rid of the whole burning hearts thing, and all there is left is commonality to violently take out the rift bunnies. No more conflict.

  7. Sometimes, I enjoy fighting the duration of the rift. Sometimes I just want to burn hearts and get it over with (often depending on travel distance, time constraints, rift terrain, etc). Which approach is correct? Both are.

It just seems like there surely must be a way for the rift mechanics to be changed to allow for either type of player to get what they came for without creating conflict.

Maybe, somehow if a rift is closed early by heartburn, then remaining players who didnt contribute to the final burn are still allowed access to the remaining rift creatures while the burners are not? Remaining rift creatures turn to "spirit" rift creatures that can only engage with those non-burners? Not sure how you'd handle the rift scoring system in such a case though.

Or, what if upon the closure of a rift due to heartburn, players are awarded their rift points/journal tick, etc, and get 5-10mins to gather resources, heal, etc before another rift occurs that features the remaining creatures that otherwise would have been lost to closure. Count this last round of creatures as its own separate rift. So, essentially players who choose to stay and fight through the whole duration can, and they get credit for finishing 2 rifts. Otherwise, burners can come do their thing and leave and just get credit for the one rift while the others are unaffected and just continue on with what remains of the fight to be had.

I dunno, just seems there has to be some smart way to give everyone what they desire when taking part in a rift without the conflict.

  8. I appreciate the response Bratty and was not aware of now-deleted posts in the thread that brought it to a place where shutdown was necessary. I've experienced first-hand and seen first-hand  some really slanted Wurm moderation over the years, so it's easy to jump and assume that was again the case here when apparently, it was not. I apologize.

Maybe rather than "Seeing as how there was a response from someone representing Capybara Sultanate explaining their reasoning, this will be closed.", something like "We are closing this thread and deleting violating posts therein due to violations" would make for much less confusion.

Mordos, you have enough posts on this forum to have seen this happen plenty of times, to have seen random comments removed/pruned/hidden and to have seen threads removed for the reasons you've listed.

Yes, unfortunately. Sometimes it's just so over the top it's hard to refrain from address.

The main reason would be because if the thread is left open it will eventually derail into insults and name calling and finger pointing.

So, if the police arrest you because you "could" potentially do something wrong one day but have done nothing arrestable to date, you feel fine with that? i dunno.. preemptive intervention is some good dictatorial stuff if that's your thing

All good. Just needed to have a word. I suppose we don't need more fires blazing when there are already so many the game is dealing with..

  10. Recently, a thread was closed to further discussion for the following reason:

"Seeing as how there was a response from someone representing Capybara Sultanate explaining their reasoning, this will be closed. If you have any further questions, I am sure they would be more than happy to answer them in DM. "

Seeing that it was civil discourse and no rules were being broken by the discussion in the thread as of yet, the closure of the thread because "there was a response from someone representing Capybara", seems beyond the spectrum of reasons why a thread should be closed.

Also, stating that "If you have any more questions, I am sure they would be more than happy to answer them in DM", gives an odd feel of representing Capybara, similar to the reasoning given for closing the thread.

I have no horse in the game as far as the discussion itself, but seeing civil, non-rule-breaking discussions by players being shutdown in this way is not a good look.

Hopefully I'm not punished and this thread removed, but civil, open communications among players should always be welcomed and encouraged, and in that spirit, hopefully this thread is not killed as well.
