  1. So, who's here? I can imagine there are quite a few people who are new or who don't use the forums, but if you're around on Release then please do check it. We seem to be quite a small community so I'd be interested in hearing from some neighbours.

My character on Pristine is Maswimelleu.

  2. Start on one of the home servers on Epic, or on Release or Pristine. It's far nicer to settle in less densely populated places or places where you don't have a established community that will be fairly hostile. My favourite Home server is Affliction, but Desertion and Serenity are also very good servers to join if you settle wisely.

  3. The crenelations (low points) are for shooting and throwing stuff over. The high points are for hiding behind. Unfortunately the game doesn't recognize that. It probably can't. ;)

We can't peer over the walls because we can't make our characters bend over through the low points in the wall to see who's at the bottom. That makes it difficult to practically use parapets if they impede our line of sight. You're right that the game can't check whether there's line of sight for an arrow with such precision, I believe there's at best an accuracy of half a tile in which the game will know that you're standing at any given time for calculating things like arrow shots.

  4. In real life the wooden parapet was on a hinge so the bottom would push out. Then you could drop rocks and things on the guys below without exposing yourself. Of course the ingame parapets are not high enough to protect anyone unless you are on your belly. Far too short.

That's not really a valid concern for anyone who does shoot arrow over fences and walls. The benefit of having this height is that it tall enough to reasonably prevent people from falling off but short enough to allow people unimpeded vision down upon their enemy. If someone wants to avoid arrows, they could construct a sheltered position a tile back from the parapet to retreat to if required, or fire out of a window.

  5. when making a parapet on top of a house, like the picture of the stone one..can i still enjoy the landscape below or are they to high ?

You can, very easily. The lowest part of it lets you see the scenery pretty much as if there was no wall there at all.

  6. They're parapets, not bannisters. The point is that they're supposed to look like the top wall of a fort instead of part of a residential building. If they're built in a line they give a very good impression of a fortification.

I don't think it's a reason to change the name, I just think the name reminds me of brand names or of Kosovo far more than other server names do. Exodus naturally reminds me of the Bible, Deliverance of nothing in particular, Independence kinda reminds me of the US war of independence. Celebration makes me think of the song above. Serenity makes me think of the Firefly series, Affliction, Desolation and Elevation of nothing much. Ok, maybe Affliction makes me think of some kind of hideous illness, but I think that's the idea.

They're all somewhat odd names, I expected the Freedom servers to be called after abstract concepts like Independence, then Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, ect.

  8. For 1, 2, 3 and 4.

    1) It depends on their volume. Smaller corpses may well fit in, but things like champion trolls may not.

    2) Usually about 3 days, give or take according to the inherent randomness of decay.

    3) Again, it varies on their volume. You can get a dog in, but champion corpses of massive beasts are less likely to fit in large amounts.

    4) Putting them in a coffin in a house on deed will reduce decay, yes. As is the case for all containers under similar conditions. However coffins are not inherently better than rafts.
