I havent bought anything from the website (yet ), but i like it. I just want to make a suggestion to it, tho. On the front page, before expanding any topics i feel i want to scroll down more. It might be just me, but even if there is nothing more, i want to scroll down before opening a dropdown.

Hope its ok to make suggestions also here, btw. :D

I think I know what you mean, it feels like there's not enough room to expand anything... I'll test a couple of things, maybe expand the first one if you scroll down all the way while they're all collapsed?

Thanks for the feedback, and yes, of course, suggestions are welcome.

    Wurm shopping made easy

    Open

So, we've been selling online for a while and now that most of the features I wanted on the website are implemented, I figured it's time to hit the forums. You would think it would have been easier the other way around -- probably.

Anyway, for those who don't know us yet, we sell a lot of stuff, and we sell it cheap. You can find a non-exclusive list of what we sell here (or click the image on top). We're humans, we forget to add things to the list, so if you don't find an item you're looking for, don't be afraid to ask.

    Imping

We do imps too. What about the price? I think it's pretty cheap. You can figure it out yourself anyway thanks to our pretty little calculator available here: http://www.southwindmarket.com/imp.php. According to our policy (see about us page), we will imp anything we sold for half the price up to the QL advertised on our website.

    Enchants

For now we can't always accept custom enchant orders. When we do, we make the item ourselves so if it shatters we can always make a new one, and it can take some time. If you need your own item enchanted (e.g. a rare), we're not the right people for the job at the moment.

    Why this thread?

    1. Reputation. It's hard to build it when everything is is under your control. We've been told many times that we needed a guestbook, but IMO that wouldn't be very trustworthy, I could write anything I want myself, so if you have any comments, questions, suggestions, ideas, etc. this is the place.

    2. You'll have a way to find us if you forget our URL ;) or if you're simply not online when we post in the trade chat.

5 Foster and Support Cross Server Trade ( While players can go to other servers to buy goods, there are rarely any cases where this becomes feasable. This should be a daily occurance with large profit margins.)

Could you explain how cross-server trade is not feasable? I see plenty of people advertising stuff and then not wanting to sell to a different server, and I don't understand why, the cross-server mailing fees have been reduced to match same-server fee years ago (not sure when exactly, but long enough...), and with the new "Plot Course" feature, going anywhere except Xanadu isn't a big deal at all. And just like irl, people can make a living out of delivering stuff for other people.

That being said I'm with you on most of the other stuff you said. Although I did not find words in your post that explicitely describe how the delivery process would work with your auction house, I get the feeling that you're talking about items teleporting, just like in a mailbox. I think that would be very bad and unrealistic.

I also think your suggestions involves too much hand-holding by the game, and that kinda goes against your 2nd point: "Be Player Driven - not Player Dependent", so I'd like to propose this concept:

    Spoiler

There was an auction house in a game I used to play (not sure if I am allowed to name it, so I won't), where auction houses had warehouses, and you could put anything up for sale, for the price you want (you could see the lowest, highest and average selling price at that particular auction house before posting). The items would then be transferred to the warehouse until they were bought.

When you wanted to buy something, you would see the price and stock of each warehouse and you could make your choice based on the price, distance, and availability. Once you bought the items (paid upfront), they would be reserved at that warehouse and you had a certain amount of time (let's say a week) to travel there and pick them up. If you picked them up too late, you'd be charged a storage fee, and if you didn't pick them up after another couple of weeks, they would be forfeited (in Wurm's case, they could be automatically auctioned off and the proceeds could go in the coffers, idk). That way, prices would depend on local availability of resources, etc.

You could also make a buy order, for a price discussed with the supplier (usually under average), then the supplier could fill the order and get the money, which was removed from your account at the time you placed the order.

With that system, the mail system we have now would still be relevant, and there would be a way to trade bulk stuff even if both parties are not online at the same time.

I think that would boost the economy, people wouldn't have to stare at/spam at the trade chat all day to sell their bulk stuff (IMO more people would consider buying and selling bulk), players who have less time to play would be less disadvantaged, and no magic delivery. Also, new players could enter the market sooner because they could sell dirt/bricks/whatever more easily before getting a suitable boat.

That post turned out to be a lot longer than I expected...

  4. Hi, my milling skill is 7.41, I have 7% chance to make salt from rock salt with a ql80-ish grindstone (I don't remember the ql of the rock salt), and I never failed to create it. I made 8 in a row (I only had 4 rock salt).

  5. The idea is pretty simple, real life guardian dogs lived with the livestock and were used to guard them against predators, and herding dogs were used to control the herd. What I would like to see in Wurm is a simpler mix of the two, basically, a breed of dog (or any regular dog?) that once tamed could break up pile-ups of livestock on a tile. I.e. there is a large pen with many sheep in it and a tamed sheepdog, 3 sheep end up on the same tile, the dog walks to them and spreads them apart so they don't catch a disease.

  6. Lumps are not capped at 50ql, they are capped at the clay pot's ql after 50.

Indeed it doesn't. The point is smithing is already unbalanced because it is already possible to do what OP is asking for. Making it easier to do so would only make it worse.

I don't think it's fair that carpenters are limited by their woodcutting skill and smiths are not limited by their mining skills (I'm not going to list them all). At least now they have to work hard to get better ql iron than they can mine.

    Realistic? Kind of.

    Fair? No.

  7. +1 for outside too (at least on PvE). Would be useful to build 2 story high rooms or a mezzanine. I don't know about periscope buildings but they could require being attached to a wall if outside, so that would limit the scaffolding's height to that of the building.

  8. My open fireplace won't stay lit for more than about 40 seconds, even when I fuel it with 1kg of tar or 10 wood scraps.

  10. I think it would be nice to be able to type the number of minutes you want your sleep bonus to be on and it will turn itself off. I think it wouldn't be very hard to implement  and it would be a huge convenience.

    Example:

You plan to mine for several hours, you have 2h of sleep bonus and you want to use 1h on mining and 1h on smithing. You could go mining, type "/fsleep 60" and forget about it. When you're done mining you can go smith and you'll still have that 1h of sleep bonus that you would have used on mining of you had forgotten to turn it off.
