Posted November 26, 2016 There is a lot of misinformation being passed around about wrapping. There are a few different types of wrapping which result in different things. It may be time to get started on wiki info for wrapping in order for players to better understand the types and uses. This is taken from the official document. Please present in the appropriate format. Wrapping Items: Spoiler 7.1.1 Wrapping items Certain items can be wrapped, for different effects. Fish and meat can be wrapped without requiring any other active item. This does not affect their decay, but allows them to be cooked directly in a cooker without a container. Wrapped meat will become cooked, while fish cooked in this way will become steamed. Most non-liquid foods can be wrapped using waxed paper to reduce their decay. Waxed paper is made using beeswax and paper or papyrus. Cheese can be wrapped using a cloth square (wool or cotton) to reduce decay. Wrapped food will decay approximately 5 times slower than unwrapped food; this is based on a decay tick being 5 times less likely for wrapped food. A wrapped item may be eaten as usual, without removing the wrapping (any of the item remaining when you stop eating will automatically be rewrapped). Unwrapping a wrapped item (via the rclick menu) will discard the wrapping. Note that wrapping an item is not cumulative with an item being salted; as wrapping has considerably more effect than salting, it overrides salting when preventing decay. See also Sealing kits below for information on preventing decay in liquids.
