Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) Vast areas of open plains no longer have sufficient hunting, noticed on both Exodus and Celebration. Pictures to follow Also, creatures attack mounts twice as much now, gone through 3 horses in the past hour. This needs fixing Examples:Northern desert, celebration. Creature count just increased.30 ‎March ‎2013 Before After (present day taken recently same desert) killed 3 crocs and 2 lava spiders Edited April 8, 2014 by Maximustehgreat
Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) Maybe it's less animals, but it's still possible to hunt. I was hunting on exo last week, I was busy all the time. Didn't have to ''look for animals''. It's probably because of the code that went wrong. Animals placed themselves at water. I saw an empty island with a ton of animals at the shore. Posted April 7, 2014 I searched for a single deer for over an hour on Deli last night and found none.
Posted April 7, 2014 I went on a short trip (10 min ride) and noticed that mobs tend to clump together in groups. I saw a group of 8 spiders with a hell hound in the centre and many similarly grouped mobs. If the new AI is causing this, then I'd say I love this idea. It creates little pockets of good hunting and you just need to ride around a bit to find them. Some of these groups would probably need a few people to get together to take them out. +1 for providing incentive to travelling together and encouraging grouping up. Posted April 7, 2014 I don't mean this in a bad way, but how did you lose 3 horses in an hour? I always make sure to keep an eye on combat tab to ensure that the creature moves into attack me, to make sure it's not my horse. If it ever does target my horse, it has never gotten more than 1 hit in before I easily escape on said horse. That's without any kind of barding too. Im asking legitimately since I can't see how you could lose 3 horses in an hour without just being careless. Also, if there was nothing for you to hunt, how did it kill your horses? As for creatures, they might be in hard to reach places now since the vast open plains etc. are probably common hunting grounds. If the servers can handle it though an increased creature cap would be pretty cool considering so many creatures are "domesticated" on Freedom.
Posted April 7, 2014 OP makes absolutely no sense. He complains that there are too few mobs and that the mobs (which are not there) kill his horses. He dreams himself back to a situation that could not possibly have existed, since twice as many mobs, attacking horse with half the frequency he observed today, would kill exactly as many horses. Posted April 7, 2014 Every mob i have found and attacked 1 in 3 has attacked my horse, yoyoing back and forth to get it off is not the thrill of the hunt. i have found a few pockets of hunting, but not much tbh, not like it was when the caps were lifted and creature count increased. I see many collections of animals on deeds, I'm beginning to think its the penned animals.

On the surface your logic applied here is quite appealing. It is what lies below that distorts the reflection above however. Through the looking glass the reflection is reversed as well, which should be given equal consideration. This alone makes three sides of the situation to each bounce off the other then leading to a fourth, or maybe it is six. Not really sure here. If then clarity is defined by the beholder, the OP is making sufficient sense to themself to find the way home after the departure of these poor hapless mounts. This also belies the label of horse sense, since the OP was able to make his way home with out any. Horses that is, or is it the other way around. Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) I was somewhat apprehensive that something like this might happen when the code went live. Before the new creature ai went live the hunting on Inde was the best I've seen it in over three years of living there. I understand the aim of the changes to help give the impression the world is alive, but maybe it was a mistake to go messing with the code for it, just sayin. Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) Last week or something, right after update that fix mobs cluttering issue I hunted for two days on exodus' north east desert and deliverance east area, and found abundant mobs-- kinda as good as Affliction, which was surprising. Even this Saturday I met areas where mobs hang out so I don't think there is problem on hunting-- except independence overall is lacking of mobs (except certain pocket areas.. and sharks conference on south inde). Anyway, except certain places, open plains are not good place for hunting for one reason: everyone else go there. Forest usually more teeming with mobs since people hate having to look around for the mobs-- which hid between trees. I rarely get horse attacked since I usually target mob from faraway, it give more chance that the mob notice you first (because you attacking) before the horse. In case I am too lazy to watch out for my horses, I hunt with card, which won't have horses getting attacked problem. Posted April 7, 2014 You can use a cart, there was so much whining about it that Rolf made hitched horses untargetable, or something. Hunting on Deli seems really good still, mobs everywhere.

Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) The recent change has proved that penned animals are not part of the problem. If you had looked around last week when he first put in the change, you would have found thousands of animals all along the shores. You just aren't looking in the right places. You know, I kinda think that its a result of AI coding not working properly. I doubt it was intended for animals to group up.

I think there is something wrong with the code, Go compare spawns to how they were when the caps were raised. It isn't even half of what we had spawning. Share this post Link to post
