Protecting my livestock without carrying around 3 dozen keys

Recommended Posts

So with the recent update on aggro animals seeking out passive mobs, I'm concerned about my livestock. They are penned in normal fences, and I live in a heavy troll area. I considered houses, but those would decrease the amount of grass I can have around (enchanted even), and look ugly on top in my current pen setup. Locking the gates is one way, but I would either have to carry around a gazillion keys or unlock all gates on deed (I have other things protected by gates I would like to keep.)

Suggestions?

Why would you need to carry a single key around with you for locked gates on deed?

And aye, you don't need to carry around any keys with you for gates while on deed.

^This.

If its all on deed and you has premissions, you can pass locked gates without keys on you.

If you have to carry keys, mayhaps use a backpack equiped, thats what I used to do.

But what if I want one group to be able to access the pens (locked with gates) but not the trader (also locked with gates)?

The gate houses would:

1) look out of place

2) prevent me from planting grass if the inside faces the pen

3) connect to other buildings if inside faces away from pen

Long as you hold the deed writ or are a citizen with the proper permissions.

Use your current system,

1. Name the keys so you can make copy's

2. Name the copy's so you can give the right key to the right player you want to have access to that specific gate.

3. leave your keys for on deed gates at home in a locked house / chest etc.

4. Give copy's to players that need them, now keys are not your problem :)
