Above is the log of me simply logging in, since no specific action triggers these effects. I am missing several models in-game (They are simply not there) and I am not able to highlight most objects. I've included pictures below of what I am and am not able to highlight/select. I posted on someone elses topic, but I think mine should be a new topic. The only thing I could think that could be causing this (After ruling out everything else I've tried) is my graphics card, but I've played Wurm on my computer before and yes, I've tried downloading earlier drivers. That didn't solve my issue, but if anyone thinks it will help I am willing to try anything a second time. As a matter of fact, I never uninstalled Wurm before this issue so not much has changed other than updates.

 

I installed Wurm on my laptop which is running the same OS, Windows 7, except with a different graphics card. Wurm, other than some bad lag, worked perfectly fine on my laptop. I am using an AMD Radeon 6800 HD. I also figured out from that venture that I am missing a lot more models than I originally thought, such as the sign next to the barrel with the compass in it. Or any of those same signs. I also do not seem to be able to highlight/select most objects, such as walls and fences. Only doors, the chest, the John Doe's Seed Store sign, gates, guards and carts I seem to be able to highlight, along with tiles.

A GM/Moderator named Forsete helped me with a support ticket to try and solve the issue, which lasted for a couple hours I believe. I've done everything from downgrading my drivers to updating my drivers, from disabling GSL shading (Which I found interesting, it made everything that I wasn't able to highlight with my cursor disappear.) to reinstalling Wurm, from lowering my graphics to reinstalling every Java I could try. He was very nice and helpful, even if my problem wasn't resolved.

I am willing to try anything that won't be a possible danger to my computer, so suggest anything. If I've already tried it I will say so, but if you think I should try it again then please state it in your response.

EDIT; May 2nd: Somehow, it got fixed. I ran Wurm using a .bat file for 64-bit java, though this hadn't worked previously. It could be because of update 55. I'm going to explain how to do this because I only found 2 other posts on how to do it and, well, I might as well.
To do this, create a .txt document and copy paste this (Make sure they are on seperate lines, as shown)

@ECHO OFFc:\windows\system32\javaws.exe http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp

Then, right click it and click properties on the drop-down menu. In the file name, it will say "New Document.txt", you can name it whatever you like but change the ".txt" to ".bat" and then run it.

I am using AMD Catalyst driver 14.1, and a 64-bit OS. This isn't guaranteed to work, but it worked for me. (Either that or something else entirely fixed it that I didn't even mean to do.)

For some people downgrading graphics drivers works and for others using the latest beta drivers works, often disabling GLSL shaders fixes it but it sounds like you've tried all of these things already.


 


The only thing I can suggest is changing the settings in the compatibility tab for 'disable color picking' and 'use direct color picking (if enabled)'. Try ticking these one at a time and then both together and see if anything changes.

You probably did it already but try disabling other options in the compatabilty tab, such as Multidraw Support, VBO, FBO. Also try changing the Maximum texture size (normal textures) in the Advanced Graphics tab to 256 and 512.


 


If none of these help I'm sorry I can't think of anything else to suggest :(

I've tried all of those and and nothing fixed it. The only things that seem to affect anything is the GSL shader and colorpicking. When disabled, the GSL shader makes all objects I cannot highlight disappear. Color picking, when disabled, only affects a very small number of items, one of which is the large wooden cart which makes it not highlightable.

I had actually looked at that and tried it because I had downloaded 14.1, but that still did not resolve the issue. I had meant to post again, but something must have distracted me, which isn't hard to do...

Somehow, I fixed it. I made a batch file to run it using 64-bit java (Though I had uninstalled 32bit and made Wurm run in 64-bit before. Yes, I checked, it was running in 64bit).

Though it hadn't worked before, and I had made the batch file before, it works now. I am using AMD Catalyst 14.1. Thank goodness for my odd persistance, even after a whole month.

I'm going to edit my first post with the "solution."

EDIT: I'm not sure how to, if I even have the ability, but could someone lock this?
