Current client issues

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

It appears there is an issue with the client connecting correctly, some players are unable to login, and all players are unable to see the news when starting the client up.

We are attempting to isolate the cause of this issue, and will have it fixed as soon as possible. In the meantime, there are some workarounds suggested, we will be testing these and will provide an update when we can.

Thank you for your patience

Regards,

Retrograde and your Wurm team

Fix is here (Hope I quoted the right one).

You don't need to make a .bat file - you can just paste it into the Windows search/run prompt (marked with red)

In the search prompt you paste one of these two text strings:

32 bit version

c:\windows\system32\javaws.exe -J-Dhttp.agent=Mozilla http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp

64 bit version

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\javaws.exe -J-Dhttp.agent=Mozilla http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp

Windows fix

This is a temporary fix and should not be needed anymore.

Go to your Windows search/run prompt:

In the search prompt paste one of these two text strings:

64 bit version

c:\windows\system32\javaws.exe -J-Dhttp.agent=Mozilla http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp

32 bit version (use this if the other doesn't work)

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\javaws.exe -J-Dhttp.agent=Mozilla http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp

Thanks to Issle who figured out what the problem was and came up with the workaround.

Reposting shortcut creation bit for more viewing;

1. Create a shortcut on the desktop by right clicking the desktop and going to new and then shortcut:

2. In the "Type the location of the item:" field, type in:

ZnIcuRX.png

3. Put a name in to the "Type a name for this shortcut:", name it whatever you want, i named it "Wurm workaround"

4. Click finish and double-click the newly created shortcut and it should work fine

c:\windows\system32\javaws.exe -J-Dhttp.agent=Mozilla http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp

Supposedly it's fixed on the server now, so hopefully we don't need this anymore.

By the way credit to Issle who figured out what the problem was and came up with the workaround.

Nice work DKSprocket, except you have the 64 bit and 32 bit locations back to front.

System32 holds the 64 bit, ands sysWOW64 is 32 bit. Doesn't make sense, but that's the way it is.

the work around works for awhile now the screen is freezing and javas not responding. If its isnt one thing its another. Im going to bed. Things should work out in the meantime. Good luck fixing it guys. I hope in the morning I can play lag free without freezes.

32 bit Windows

c:\windows\system32\javaws.exe -J-Dhttp.agent=Mozilla http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp
64 bit Window

c:\windows\system32\javaws.exe -J-Dhttp.agent=Mozilla http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp

Fixed that. There is no need to ever mention SysWOW64 unless you really really really need a 32bit program on 64bit windows. The only good thing MS did with the retarded names is the ability to use system32 for the native libraries regardless of the Windows version.

Ah good to know. The reason I included the SysWOW64 link was because a friend didn't have c:\windows\system32\javaws.exe on his system - his Wurm shortcut was pointing to SySWOW64.
