Could not check client version. The error was: <All retries failed for wurmclient.ver>

To the people who're trying the copy paste thing, you'll want this this.jpg and not this notthis.jpg

Just save that as something like run.bat and it'll work properly.

Welps, My fix:

Open Note Pad.

Type @ECHO OFF

c:\windows\system32\javaws.exe -J-Dhttp.agent=Mozilla http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp

Save as a .bat file to desktop (I named mine "Work god dammit")

Double click.

Hope it helps someone at least

I replied and it put the whole link on my screen, but meant to say, copy the two lines he gave us. Right click the shortened link and copy link location and just paste it over the shortened one. :-) Hope this works. It looks identical to what I used before.

Edit, image file so you will have to type it out.

Of note for others, I have cleared the java cashe. (On Windoze - Control Panel > Java > Right there in the first tab. It installed the jnlp again but immediately said it could not be verified.

I don't see that a reinstall of the game data would fix anything as it is not even loading the client to have invalid resource files.

Edit #2: This worked. No error. Thank you AnarchistRise and everyone helping!

You don't need to make a .bat file - you can just paste it into the Windows search/run prompt (marked with red)

In the search prompt you paste one of these two text strings:

32 bit version

c:\windows\system32\javaws.exe -J-Dhttp.agent=Mozilla http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp

64 bit version

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\javaws.exe -J-Dhttp.agent=Mozilla http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp

either that or the developing team and rolf get off their collective butts and hire a dedicated full time 24/7 support staff . for the money this game charges a month to be premium this is getting to be ridiculous.

i have seen daycare students with better organizational skills than the wurm team seems to have

Not Working for me

For anyone that would even want to use Chrome. and how to do this.

Make a txt. file and paste this info

@ECHO OFF

c:\windows\system32\javaws.exe -J-Dhttp.agent=Chrome/33.0.1750.154  http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp

after that save as all file types and rename it to have the .bat

Edit- also sets Wurm to use 64 bit and is stable client.

This is done with windows 7, though it should be very similar in other versions such as XP:

1. Create a shortcut on the desktop by right clicking the desktop and going to new and then shortcut:

zrPimvF.jpg

2. In the "Type the location of the item:" field, type in:

c:\windows\system32\javaws.exe -J-Dhttp.agent=Mozilla http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp

ZnIcuRX.png

3. Put a name in to the "Type a name for this shortcut:", name it whatever you want, i named it "Wurm workaround"

MdYU6Zc.png

Click finish and double-click the newly created shortcut and it should work fine

Also, please don't act so rudely considering they're trying to help...
