Required fix for deed permissions in alliances

Recommended Posts

Writing this on behalf of FNC alliance on Exodus.

Currently there is no way to limit taking items from deed area within alliance. There is only a setting to allow everyone to take items/tame animals (settlement -> manage settings)

What we desperately need is a setting that will disallow allies from taking items on deed area (just like it works above for non-allies non-citizens) and some way to allow just specific deeds such permission (a global yes/no setting doesn't work, when a group of friends has few deeds that they'd like to share to some level).

We've had numerous cases where things went missing, few times loss was above 30 silver worth of items. More importantly:

  1. Securing deed is complicated and it's easy to make holes, especially for newcomers or in special cases - like trade good deliveries.
  2. It builds distrust among allies and causes deeds to leave or refuse joining. Eventually, theft may blamed instead of decay or holes in the brain.

As our alliance grows larger, these issues get more serious. We were always open and friendly bunch, but these recent issues put a shadow on that. If this issue is not sorted, we will be forced to stop taking in newcomers and in the long run it will kill the community.

I trust this will never happen, because someone out there will recognize how serious this issue is for us and code a speedy update.

There is no such setting under roles. There is one under "manage settings" and it does not apply to alliance.

I second this, please someone make this happen. And manage roles does wonders for anyone not in the alliance. alliance actually over rides almost all of the manage settings

+1, it would be really great to have such settings, not walls and gatehouses everywhere :)

I already had a post on this... You know that part about searching before you post... Might help.

If you mean this post:

http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/96275-village-permissions/?hl=%2Bdeed+%2Bpermission

Then let me give you my reasons:

  1. This issue is critical for us, it's not some "life could be better with this stuff", it's be or not to be. That's why it must be a separate thread.

Your post takes on many issues, all very legitimate of course, but nevertheless I can live just fine with most of these issues never fixed.. but not this one.

It's much easier to discuss a concrete single issue, than a bulk of them, within single thread.

I'm a developer myself and when I get feedback, I prefer when it is about a single aspect of the product, with clearly defined issue, what state would be satisfactory and with no concrete proposal on how to fix it (because lets face it, what appears easy on the front-end, never is on the back-end).

Finally, I do agree with the matters you bring in your post. Question is, can't you just ask for my support, instead of throwing insults?

A big fat +1 to this.

This is the reason I left my alliance.

This is the reason I refuse to rejoin an alliance.

It has nothing to do with trust. I'm sure they're all good and trustworthy people, it's about feeling like my place is truly "my place" and having control over everything that happens on my deed. Out of principle alone! Out of the need to feel secure! It just feels like this setting was supposed to be there from the beginning but was overseen, forgotten. Oops!

I have heard horror stories of alliance members stealing (intentionally or by mistake) stuff from their allies, so although nothing has happened to me, I know it's happened to others.

I'll second this and I will also go on record as someone who took the knee-jerk reaction to leave the Alliance over this problem. Whether it was the right choice remains to be seen. When you feel the need to barricade yourselves from people you trust in the same manner as you would a stranger...I would have to say there is a mechanic missing/broken/overlooked.

That's just my 2c on the subject. People can fling mud all they want at this post, the system simply does not work.

+1 to a variety of critical deed permissions fixes, of which I would not call this the most important, but would say is definitely something that should be prioritized.

Needs sorting asap, so many people I know have lost items in this way. Probably adds up to several thousand euro lost if you add up everyones items that are lost due to this major flaw in the system.

+infinity.

+1 and no, manage roles does not cut it. I'm already maxed out on the allowed number of roles allowed just with all of the deeds WE own, let alone an alliance.
