Posted February 21, 2014 Simple, give a warning pop up (with a checkbox to turn them off after receiving the first warning to never see it again) when an item you are using reaches 80 or 90 damage. Really stinks blowing up valuable skills because you were too in the zone chatting with villagers or something :/ Basically, throw stop all actions, throw up the pop up that explains what happens if it isn't repaired, and how close to destruction the item is. Add a checkbox to never see the warning again and if that is checked, it will no longer pop up and will no longer stop your action que.

Posted February 21, 2014 it isn't so much about afk, what brought up the discussion for me and some friends was after I blew my 103 CoC rake while tending my 1500 tile farm. This game is built to encourage the use of playing multiple characters, this is a small addition that would do a lot of good for new players especially, and many veterans i'm sure would enjoy the feature too knowing they don't have to worry about blowing up their 1ql pick or rake because they don't repair it after nearly ever action. Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) I've blown up many a good items through carelessness, but I won't complain because that is all on me. There shouldn't have to be something hard coded into the game to save you from yourself. Keep an eye on the damage, if you loose your item, then sorry to be so blunt but it is your own fault, nothing more. Repair often, always, as often as you can, or in your case mark it for say every 100 tiles repair the Rake. I've gotten into the very good practice of queing up a Repair action while I am Shield Training, because the action won't execute while in combat, when I step out after 15 minutes having forgotten to Repair, I've already saved myself, (Shields are a great example because they take ungodly amounts of damage). So in the end just keep an eye on it yourself rather than make the game do it for you -1 Edited February 21, 2014 by Shrimpiie

Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) meh, why not? there's already the new fancy spell icons for our spell effects, and other visual windows and I think they are good. I think it would make sense to have a more visible indication that the activated tool you're working with is about to break. Some people don't play with their inventories open during every activity and I don't blame them, the drop-down menu style is hideous. Walls have visual indications for their damage, why not for activated/equipped items? Would make sense that if your shield is in 4 pieces or your pickaxe is hanging on by a splinter, that you would have some indication of that. +1 Edited February 21, 2014 by Versai
Posted February 21, 2014 Simple, give a warning pop up (with a checkbox to turn them off after receiving the first warning to never see it again) when an item you are using reaches 80 or 90 damage. Even better have it work like food. If it's over 90 damage just say the tool is too damaged to work with and you need to repair it first.
Posted February 21, 2014 What could be bad? Check never show again and simple no worry, just like the theft warning when dropping an item, bet most forgot about that too.
Posted February 21, 2014 Perhaps this could be added to the new Notifications system ?

Posted February 21, 2014 I'm split on this one. I see the help it would be to have this notice. Just like all of you I've done it too. But it's also like accidentally burning your tools, you only do it once. Then you learn a pattern to prevent it in the future. In this particular case I do my farming actions as farm, farm, farm, repair. I may skip it once in a while, but as a habit I keep my 1 ql rake at less than 2 damage at any time. Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) I have blown up more 90+ tools than anyone here LMAO!!! I will bet on it. Basically is the worst feeling in the world.........Hardcore sucks! And......I am gonna say its one of those either or things......Yeah it would be nice to have the game protect me all the time for alot of things, but I do not think it is anything like eating or drinking when it comes to the new warning teaching tool. So -1 and +1 just because it would have saved me a ton of silver........ Might be nice to have a sound happen after 90% or a red glowy thing swirling around your screen like rares but opposite. Posted February 21, 2014 +1 blew up a 70 coc skiller oak ropetool the other day because i was distracted teaching new people to play.
Posted February 21, 2014 I think the best solution may be making it so that you cannot use a tool beyond 90 damage. Getting a message "This tool is too damaged to be used" Just like getting the 8% food, You are too weak to mine... etc.
Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) +1 for notification only. Don't make a silly automated system to control our actions. Edited February 21, 2014 by EliasTheCrimson

But yeah, i think the warning might be better... You might be trying to break the tool for some reason...

Posted February 21, 2014 +1 to a notification. There are notifications for other things like mine walls and stuff, so I don't see why there shouldn't be one here.
Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) Sure I can see something in events or some other deal where "you notice your tool is in bad shape." EDIT: And an option in settings where to set the warning ql. Edited February 21, 2014 by Klaa
Posted February 21, 2014 i broke like 6-7 grooming brushes to go from 50 to 60 on epic with sleep bonus on... all were above 80 coc and some were 90+ i was usually repairing the brush after one run, but kept breeding at same time so sometimes i had more horses than a 1 ql brush could take:) +
Posted February 22, 2014 sure do itbut put it as far down in to do list as you can
Posted February 22, 2014 another thing that could be done is instead of items breaking, they just become 'useless' at 100 damage and cannot be used again until repaired
