Intermittent lag issues

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Some players are experiencing large amounts of lag and disconnections, which can cause concern.

Firstly, there are no signs pointing towards a second DDoS, with transferring hosts there may be routing issues, but we do not know for sure.

We have informed Rolf on the situation, and as soon as we receive word on the cause, we will let you all know.

Regards,

Retrograde and your Wurm Team

Yeah, everyone posting here so far is on Pristine, so perhaps it's that server?

(Well, not sure about khatanka)

No, it has nothing to do with the server. I'm lagging to servers within the same subnet, which aren't related to wurm at all.

No, myself and many on Epic are having issues as well.

Several players using Virgin as ISP are having problems in other online games where the server is located in Germany, maybe its related?

Yes, its starting to get so bad that its becoming unplayable for me as well. Waiting 5 mins to preform one action is just a bit much.

Exactly the same situation here.

Hi everyone,

The lag seems to be across all servers, but only affecting selected players, this indicates it is not a server lag issue directly.

If, as signs point, it is routing issues, they should sort themselves out over time.

I will continue to keep an eye on the situation, if anything else arises please let me know.

Retrograde

Sounds like the servers really just can't handle peak times when USA and EU are all on simultaneously,

Since right around the time kids swarm out of their schools was about 3 hours ago, and ever since then, most of my friends have noticed ridiculously large amounts of lag ever since.

YES!  I can't play with this.  Very upset.  Feels like another DDoS attack.

Please fix, Rolf.

-  I can only be patient for so long.

Freedom server, unstable client, Tampa Florida USA,

Having bits of lag with random d/c's if that helps any.

I run two accounts - only one was affected - totally unplayable and had to log off - but the other one is fine and am still on with it and no problems. Weird!

So what about being completely unable to log in? I get the connection timed out message trying to log into Serenity on any account, but I can log into Chaos with no problem.

Yeah it is pretty bad here, and from the office.

Looks like for me at least the problem is in the connection from Level3 in Frankfurt to the hosting provider. The connection seems to be all over the place 2ms to 150ms+, maybe a saturated link. Hard to tell without the inverse route from the provider back though.

Central Sweden here and I'm getting no noteworthy amounts of lag.

Central Sweden here as well and I'm getting very noteworthy amounts of lag. Disconnected until I gave up smithing and started imping the forges instead.

An interesting thing was that I had a barrel of items that I repaired upon logging in, and most of the times when I disconnected and looked in the barrel there was damage inside again. Lag caused by too frequent decay ticks?

Your ISP is much much more relevant than your location.

Yes, it seemed like the problems started from the Telia->Level3 handover, and not just in Frankfurt. (http://rotabsscreenshots.se/OvRS5qOXP.png)

There were no issues if you tried all those servers alone though, only if the end point was to the wurm servers subnet.

Anyways, it seems like it got fixed last night.
