Posted February 20, 2014 I figure this suggestion will probably be ignored, but here it goes. Half the year I'm so busy working I don't have time to play this game. The other half I'm barely working and have all the time in the world to play. So when I have time to play, I can't afford to keep paying premium, and when I CAN afford it, I'm too busy with work to play this enough to justify the cost. I feel like you want me to pay to not be inconvenienced, rather than letting me just pay for conveniences like a deed, or currency to buy gear/tools. Long-time premium players might rage at me for bringing up this idea, but could you possibly raise the skill cap to at least half of the max, so that those of us who have devoted months to this game can actually fend off a spider on our own without calling the guards twelve dozen times, or craft decent enough gear to sell for a few copper? Posted February 20, 2014 Perhaps it is just me but reading how you wrote this it seems half you year you have the money to buy premium and the other half you have the time to earn it in game ?
Posted February 20, 2014 Enh no raise on caps is needed
Posted February 20, 2014 I don't understand... You have no time to play because you are too busy with work, but you don't want to pay because you wouldnt be playing enough. Why do you even play this game/want all that stuff if you won't have time to play anyway?
Posted February 20, 2014 Yeah, since he doesn't have time to play while working he doesn't pay and since he doesn't have money when not working he doesn't pay. So the correct solution is to allow him full access to the game since he doesn't pay. Seems like sound logic.
Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) save a bit of money when you are working and buy a 6 month subscription for the other half a year? dunno what got to do with skill caps. There is good reason why free access is limited as to reduce griefer alts, 20 is specific so cant destroy things as need 21. Posted February 20, 2014 Not sure what guards you are calling but 12 dozen times? Hyperbole might not suit you well here. Anyway good luck with your suggestion. so that those of us who have devoted months to this game can actually fend off a spider on our own without calling the guards twelve dozen times, or craft decent enough gear to sell for a few copper? Posted February 20, 2014 No need to, it's not like your well deserved skills you get when you are prem goes away permanently when you fall under unprem/F2P. Skills are still there once you reprem.
Posted February 20, 2014 When you have time u can contact me so i can give u work in Game so u can earn and don't worry i will kill spiders for you. Still you remark is genuine but there is nothing wrong with the cap buddy. So find a answer to problem
Posted February 20, 2014 As I expected, total resistance to the idea by those of you who are more fortunate. You'd think premium players would want their f2p workers to be able to produce higher ql items for them. I'm tired of feeling useless to my premium friend because of this skill cap. I could dig 6k dirt every month, but that would really mess up the terrain, and would detract a lot from the fun of playing this game.. Maybe another game like this will emerge in the future with a better business model. I can't justify in my mind having to not only earn skills in a game but keep paying for them monthly. Hate me if you want, I don't care. Not everyone has a perfect balance of time and money. And it's not something I can really help outside switching occupations. Also, I have payed for premium and currency in the past. I'm currently wearing 70+ QL armor and wielding a 75 QL Huge Axe I bought. So those of you saying I've never paid can put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Posted February 20, 2014 Eh i would say it could be rasied a bit more but only to 30 so people actually get the joy of riding a horse and commanding ships. But i doubt it will ever happen because ridding a horse is the major incentive (atleast for me) to going prem cause lets face it walking sucks.
Posted February 20, 2014 I don't think anyone is trying to hate on you. What if, during the time of year you are working you set aside the money to buy premium for the non-working period of time ?
Posted February 20, 2014 Hate me if you want, I don't care. Again, hyperbole mate. Who hates you? Hate is a very strong word. You make a suggestion, some like it some wont. I am not seeing anyone claim they hate you as a person. Again, best of luck.
Posted February 20, 2014 If you have half the year off work if I'm understanding correctly, work in-game for some silver to get prem. it's what a lot of people tend to do. And maybe if you do a lot of work, you can get a trader. Log in once a month or wtv to collect some silver, and once you have play time - you can play instead of working for silver.A huge no though to raising skills. That's the huge incentive to go premium. It's how the game makes money. No need for it when, with enough patience, you can earn premium in game.

The time you aren't paying, the hosting companies, developers, and his grocery store, utilities and car insurance companies don't charge him. Try not to be thankful for what you have, demand more since you are so valuable to him. Without you not paying he would actually have to pay his bills. Posted February 20, 2014 This game makes money from this model. It has worked for more than 10+ years, and it's working fine now. it's an unlimited trial, raising the skills would break so many things in the game, more alt griefers is the biggest issue, but i could go on. No need to change it.
Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) 20 is fine as long term free players are nothing but a drain, it supposed to be a trial, it doesnt have the in app purchases or player numbers to support F2P. The people who want to carry on playing need to pay something as servers and developers are not free. I just pay the basic sub cost, no extras from a trader and I don't own any deeds. Man i know for a fact i cant afford to pay prem i paid for 2 months and in that time period i have earned alteast upwards of 50s. I have a bulk business that i do myself and friends i do it with if you need to earn something there is more ways than 1. You can always just make bricks if you are dying to get prem and buy a referral and then make as much as possible to earn your premium for months ahead. Its not that hard tedious pain in the ass yes but hard? Not a damn bit.

Paying to not be inconvenienced is just a bad business model imo. If everyone could ride horses, there would be more buyers for horses, thus more money for horse breeders. I don't think anyone is trying to hate on you. What if, during the time of year you are working you set aside the money to buy premium for the non-working period of time ? That's probably what I'll be forced to do, but that is months away, so if I did that it would be around November by the time I decided to the first month of premium. I might do it this weekend even after I get paid, I finally got a decent week of work in.. Yes, because we all know that Rolf only has to pay for the servers when you are paying. Oh, well then never mind me going premium this weekend. I could never make someone have to pay bills. It would eat at my conscience forever. How would I sleep at night? Posted February 20, 2014 I dont c why you would need to raise the cap on f2p for that reason.I have an alt who is F2P he has 60+ql chain armer and a 50+ql weapon and quite easy kills spiders and even bears.these items can be bought for less than 3s.You can make that bye making 1k mortar and selling it
Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) The skillcap is fine for a f2p, because if it was raised so you could actually supply your very own village easily, then what incentive would there be left to prem up? If anything, make Wurm more affordable Edited February 20, 2014 by san_tropez
