Posted February 19, 2014 Just an idea, since we have paper and pens, and the skills to enchant, why not be able to place those enchantments on paper for others to use on their items?
Posted February 19, 2014 Never liked this idea. Please leave the enchanting to the Priests -
Posted February 19, 2014 You would have to be a priest to enchant the paper......
Posted February 19, 2014 I'm referring to the action of placing the enchantment on an item, using the paper, which I said just leave the enchanting to the Priests, the placing of a cast on an object.
Posted February 19, 2014 How would you handle applying it? Casting 100COC isnt a big deal on a 70QL tool, its huge on a 7QL tool.
Posted February 19, 2014 -1 was discussed lengthy earlier and to sum of it.. it will make low channeling priests useless and lower enchants value because every items are the same.
Posted February 19, 2014 -1 NEVER! Can you tell i'm really against it? >_<
Posted February 19, 2014 Sure, let's also bring gem sockets and reforging.
Posted February 19, 2014 only if it's 5x harder to cast the paper than any other item 8)
Posted February 19, 2014 it was already proposed, and it was declined by most people just like this time. -
Posted February 19, 2014 hmm, not sure why there is such vehemance against this, but I will defer to several people that I normally agree with. To me the biggest problem with this idea is that without a complete overhaul of the enchanting system it is only going to lead to confusion by people. I do not think many non-priests have an idea of just how random the enchanting system is and how much time and effort might go into getting a decent cast onto an item, even by some of the best priests in the game (4-5+ casts to get 80+). Lower skilled priests have a much greater difficulty (my vyn with 51 channeling and 38 sd has never cast 80+ and it is very hard for him to get 50+) including growing frequency of destroying the item the lower their skill and the item ql gets. I do not think that most players will take things well after they have spent 50c (likely cost point) on a CoC enchanted paper, then try to place it on their just made 20ql rake and watch it blow up. And I do not know how others feel, but I would rather have the item blow up than get another dreaded (0) power enchantment cast. By the time most players have been around the game long enough to have some understanding of casting, they likely know someone they can go to for enchanting. It is much easier to pay someone else for a guaranteed cast or simply purchase a pre-made item with an known enchantment level.
Posted February 19, 2014 -1 due to the long discussions about balancing this idea that have occurred in the past.
Posted February 19, 2014 On the surface it looks good but that would be based on experience from other games and the no-fail nature of placing enchants from portable spell scrolls. The down sides here are all too obvious though. Low level priests would be devalued to obscurity making the grind less bearable. I don't have a priest yet and sure, I would love to be able to toss a CoC spell of 80+ on my training tools but the cost to community makes it unworkable. Posted February 19, 2014 I just don't like this suggestion. Keep enchanting the way it is.
