Where's the Beef?!

Recommended Posts

Yes it's that time again.....

SO I've built my house and my farm and raised some horses etc etc....for the 4th 6th 10th time.....

Where's the thing that makes you log in and feel excited to log in that you might find something new or special??

Is the Rare system supposed to fill this void?

Don't get me wrong Wurm is awesome when it comes to having to Work to create your town, village, or homestead....But for some reason It just feels like something is missing... Its almost as if the end game is done after you've built your area up, imp'd your items and have your Home settled.

No mobs drops other than body parts...........so hunting for the have to log in for something new and exciting feeling is out...

I have 10-20 sets of everything so building something else it not going to bring that type of feeling either...

No boss mobs in dungeons to hunt and possibly get something special from..

Right now its...mining might get you a gem.....creating might get you a Rare....Praying might get you a gem or some coins...Really??!!

In other words maybe is it time to stop focusing on upgrading the "look" of the game and start focusing on adding things that make the player want to log in because this day I could "find" something exciting, unique, or special.....

Another thing  that should be looked at is Game Sponsored Social Events, GM events, and or items that give players something to do together.

CARDS???  CHESS??  DICE???  Auction Houses??   Anything!!!!!  Social Stuff!!

What I find with all the people I have ever known in RL when they come into the game is that after awhile when they have finished building their area... they get bored.  Not one has stayed and continues to play the game.

Yes it's supposed to be a Sandbox game....

But Sometimes leaving it up to the player base to provide entertainment and social things is not enough.

SO I ask again Where's the BEEF???!!!

u look just like a kid in  a sandbox crying to daddy for a new toy.

if u want to play with toy's should go for a different playground.

Freedom server doesn't have a purpose other than to socialise with friends, it gets repetitive in the end.

If you want a story to follow or something to keep you progressing, chaos is where it's at. a very slow moving story full of err.. action and drama.

Sounds like you could use some Epic/Chaos in your life.

That or start playing another thing, as Wurm doesn't have nuff dev resources to be pumping out new toys every month.

Judging by the date on your forum account, the game has kept you around for 4 years already...maybe you've just finally gotten bored of it?

Endgame is creating your own kingdom (or joining an existing one) and taking over elevation server.

give fun gifts for people with 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 days playtime.

I remember when I started wurm and read that someone 'found or got' a free large magic chest at 100days playtime, Im sure I misread it, but it got me very excited.

I thought you liked logging in and announcing ever little skill up you get in kchat, lol

Seriously thought the pve servers can get old after awhile that is when i have to move to a new spot or if i am lucky a new server would open. This is why i have been suggestion a server that resets every year or so to bring back that spark on a somewhat regular basis.

A completely separate server that resets every year, both map and skills, would be an interesting idea Kegan. Although the last 2 months would be kinda meh. Would be fun seeing most people trade resources for resources, as I'm sure there'd be a lot less cash floating around on there.

Sounds like you've come to the point of the game where you need to move for Chaos (Or Epic) so you feel part of something and are working towards something as an individual or as part of a group. It is the most satisfying part of Wurm.

no your skills would stay just the map would reset like what we thought epic was going to be but just pve. That is the reason for the map reset is to get a "reason" to keep leveling skills not have them yanked away that would be useless. Well I can see where people might say that about the map reset too but for some of use we enjoy the exploration/adventure of a new map but i would not want to level a new toon every time too.

You just described World of Warcraft. This is a sandbox game (says so right on the entry page), not a kill 20 kobolds, turn in their candles and get a +1 Ring of Bling.

Oh, forgot to say that this is a sandbox game, you have to make your own beef.

Heh it is picking up over here a bit, a lot of fun, but all the drama is usually on the forums :D

Honesty though, thats why you think outside the box, here gameplay constantly changes depending on how much people complain on the fourms  ;)

Funny to see the people from Epic coming in like they're hot ###### all of a sudden.

I agree with Protunia to an extent, but I just go and play other games for a few weeks/months.

In my experience, the PvP in this game is terrible and just really doesn't appeal to me, I like the sandbox mechanic to make things and I'll play other games to get my shooty stabby fix.

I just knew something was wrong within the darkside.

I could feel pain...all though some of it was me cramping

I could feel fustration...and that was partly trying to find the Midol

So I hopped on over to Wurm forums and saw Protunia's Thread in recent posts...

Protunia you are not without hope, some of the cool and obnoxious people are correct.

It's time you leave the worlds of Freedom, embark on a new adventure of Chaos or Epic.

Hunt, raid and defend. Also if you go to Wendys I'd really like a large fries without salt and a cheese burger, no pickle or onions.

Might I suggest joining The Bird aka Emoo. He's good fun and Aussy so what's not to like?

There is also that nice Gumbo, he's a bit spicy but wise!

All though the suggestion of adding new skills and some events isn't so ridiculous.

Played how many years to get to the point of thinking "I've done everything."?
