Posted February 11, 2014 I'm sure it's been suggested a million times before but since we have kingdom banners, flags and tabards... why can't we have shield heraldry?
Posted February 11, 2014 +1 So much.It would also be great if Dye showed up on Armor and shields. Surely wouldn't be THAT hard to code either...right?
Posted February 11, 2014 I've had a dyed red large metal shield that I have used for 3 years... I am still waiting for the day that it becomes visibly red when I have it equipped.
Posted February 11, 2014 Would sure be nice to have this option available, i know a few people who don't really like having to wear a tabard and cover their shiney lookin armour for lack of a better option.

Posted February 11, 2014 I'm no dev but wouldn't this be very resource intensive for pvp when everyone of the 30 people involved have a different skin on their shield? Not to mention if the game ever gets bigger and pvp becomes larger with possibly 100 people on both sides(doubt that would ever happen but it is a possibility). Just a question. Posted February 11, 2014 I assume this would have to be per town.

Not to mention if the game ever gets bigger and pvp becomes larger with possibly 100 people on both sides(doubt that would ever happen but it is a possibility). Just a question. Other way more graphically intensive games do this with MORE people involved, so shouldn't be too hard with wurm. For pvp to get larger probably the game needs some changes that might involve better streamlining and servers so that would probably solve that as well. Of course this would never involve personal heraldry (nothing ever did) so at most this would go village level, most likely alliance or kingdom only. So there wouldn't be 30 different skins, but more like 4-5. Also its quite possible, and easy to make it that at lower graphic settings (people with slower pcs) all players will show only generic (kingdom probably) textures. Yes, each banner/shield texture might hog a few megabytes of memory extra. But, if there's any feature of the game worth blowing client resources on, it's player customization. Posted February 12, 2014 +1 for kingdom/pmk logo on shield, not for towns, with the option not to display them. People say it wouldn't be too hard for wurm to add a bit more here and there to textures and memory usage, but wurm already can barely handle what it has often. If every town could have their own, I think that might cause a lot more strain.
