Remove fight skill gain from killing players

Recommended Posts

The harvesting of fight skill from other players, whether through legitimate kills or through the rinse and repeat slayings of sacrificial alts (which is happening far too often) should be stopped.

There is already enough incentive to kill other players without skill gain being involved. Looting gear, getting affinities, and increasing battle rank are well and enough. The fight skill gain is too big and is being exploited to hell. Simply killing an alt with suitable fight skill results in instant skill gain far greater than what a player could legitimately achieve hunting for a far longer period of time.

Alt slaying has been a point of contention for years, and I believe this is the only surefire way to stop the practice almost entirely (excluding the harvesting of affinities that would still occur).

meh not removed but fix it. it is bad enough knowing that players are able to farm alts for FS and other things and not having it legit kills

So punish 95% of pvpers because of the 5% that kill alts?  What

I don't even care for loot.  The 2 main things I get from pvp is fs and affinities.  I took the long road via hunting and pvp to get 100 fs, I don't see why we have to change that for everyone else.

Find some other solution to end alt abuse that doesn't involve ruining it for everyone, and then I can +1 it.

a solution that accounts for past hunting hours people put towards their fight skill honestly. not hourly based but people with any skill obviously spent hours, or even months of actual hunting (not months of irl, months ingame like 150 days playtime hunting only)

also removes the need or want for alt killing, and any past possible abuse of it but doesnt quite disable it as hunting gains would be not capped like they are now (its like 10% what you would gain below 70.00fs now, soft cap) and it probably wouldn't be as popular as hunting for fs if this linked change is implemented.

after fs getting from hunt buffed - fs from pvp became useless

you can kill 10 spiders and get more fs then during 1-2 huge raids

if we compare "Death" tab statistic for last 2-6m we will see

90% of deaths is alt killing

if you try analyse it in term of amount of fs you got - guess nearly 100% of fs gets from alt killing

(cause if you 1vs10person (most pvp kills) - you got really small amount of fs)

be fair guyz, pvp was always for loot, never for fs grind

so +1

dont make wurm a game where most fs get person who have more premmed alt.

-1 Im in favor of the solution tot his problem of removing or lessen the soft cap for hunting Mobs so its possible to gain 90+FS realistically without using alts.

lol i read only title... what is point of pvp then?

So you admit you are willfully ignorant of others' arguments, then. Whether this suggestion is a good idea or a bad idea -- your approach to it is bad.

-1 PvP is esentiall

Looks like you didn't read it, either. And it looks like others didn't address the OP's argument, either. Way to live up to the stereotype, forum-goers/PvPers.

As said before, make it so you only get FS one time per month from a certain player...

Don't forget to delete all those affinities as well over the years farmed off players.....;)

People PvP for fight skill? I always looked at is an incentive, but it seems counter intuitive that people would kill people to get fight skill so that they could better kill people. Isn't killing people the object, in the end? I pvp for affinities, loot, glory, etc. I don't like the idea of removing fs from killing people, because I enjoy the bonus reward, but to be honest... if it'll stop more guys from hitting 100 fs through complete BS, I'd prefer it. Unless we could come up with some better solutions....

I think it was worked out that the last .00012 someone in MR needs to reach exactly 100 fighting requires 60champion animals.

That to me is not a realistic amount to gain legitimately, ever. Removing the softcap or lessening it simply means that it will still be possible for people to reach higher tiers of FS to compete with these players that have been using alts for some time and hopefully avoid another "Window of Opportunity"

100 in a skill is not meant to be easy...

http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/44680-100-hfc/?hl=cooking

600 meals to gain 0.0005 skill is not easy by any stretch, its only been made possible by players capable of rapid clicking. Go and earn the fight skill rather than killing alts.

+1 to OP

0.001 - 0.0005 each 600 meals.
