Allow animals to board ships

My little 2 cents:

Horses can swim if leaded. but no any other animal can.

My sugestion is to allow the cargo of cattle ( i mean any farm animal like horses, cows, bulls, pigs, etc.) to be loaded onto the boats, but useing passenger slots instead of cargo room.

something like 3 spaces for large animals like horse, bull, cow, etc. 1 for small ones like pigs, rosters and chicken.

Like this, large animals would be limited by the size itself to ride on Sailing boat as the smaller boat capable, with a max capacity of 1 animal, Corbita would be limited to 2 animals. all by its own passanger capacity without the need of further modifications

This will allow players to move cattle around more efficiently while not allowing the movement of large amounts of animals in one trip, giveing more uses for large ships even if they are not "visualy" on the deck.

With this setting max animal + passanger capacity would be as follow:

Sailing Boat: (smallest capable) 1 animal with 1 passanger

Corbita: 2 animals with no spare space.

Cog: 2 animals with 2 spare spaces

Knarr: 3 animals with no spare space

Caravel: 3 animals with 1 spare space.

Procedure could be: 1 - Lead animal

2 - Right click boat -> Load leaded animal

For unloading: 1- Active a rope

2- Right click boat -> unload <animal> ( or sub-menu select loaded animal)

Eh i like the idea but i would prefer if animals had there own amount of room on board ,because you have not thought of mutli people riding the same boat at the same time with there 5 speeders.

Now if you want to make a new boat for transporting livestock.......and they are actually on the boat and not BsB'd then maybe.


 


And NO Over Packing the sheep!!!

Hauling animals on boat would be nice, but having them take up passenger slots is just silly. Imagine a cow at the top of the mast in a cog or caravel? I'd prefer if animal transporting capacity could be "unlocked" with some addition to boats (like a holding pen assembled then attached to larger ships), but the the most practical solution might just be to introduce a new type of barge-like vessel.

General premiss (carrying animals on boats) is nice. The actual suggestion isn't.


Also animals on boats have issues because of intersever thingies.

Yes, use a seperate ship for this.

 

I'd enjoy seeing such ships cross servers. Would allow more trading on freedom and promote pvp on epic.

I'd not either for or against this to be honest however the idea of a cow on top of the mast amuses me.

Sry for the title in caps, already edited it. did not noticed i placed it like that.

I also think that a cow in the crow's nest would be hilarious, but as i said, "evenif they are not visualy on deck" but useing passangers slots. besides, as i last edited Cog and Caravel have spare passanger slots and the crow's nest should be one.

I want a rooster boat!!


Question is, would pheasants manning the ores increase the speed of the boat like a regular passenger. Lowly pheasants.

That's exactly what cannot happen. Each server has a different Animal cap, adding animals to a server from another could have unforeseen consequences.

I think the main problem is something to do with multiple servers and animals using the same asset IDs. Could go from Exo to Deli with a sheep and *pop* there goes someone's 7 trait horse when you arrive.

easier method....


 


 


use the existing hitching method thats used for carts


 


have them in designated spots on the ship


 


naturally they be no speed bonus for hitching them lol


 


All this will do is lock the animal onboad the ship untill they are un-hithced again

Then why isn't the suggestion of transporting animals nice?! Please elaborate, especially when you have given -1.

I appreciate the current obstacles such as this. But saying something just simply can't happen isn't constructive or even useful. 

 

An animal cap could be adjusted to contain such a buffer. Or other alternatives to the problem can surely be found.

The problem with crossing servers is that each server has a certain animal spawn rate based on what animals are on that server. Also, if I remember correctly each server uses the same set of ID's for animals, so you'd end up having two animals with the same ID on the same server, which sounds either impossible or a recipe for disaster.
