High cpu usage

Recommended Posts

This isn't normal is it?

I'm using mediocre settings, I used to have maybe 30-40% at most with the same settings... now, it's 82...

Edit: 82% is the lowest I've seen it in the past 2-3days.

when i first got my new computer. with 2x the ram.  i was only able to put 2 clients on at same time while my older computer could handle 4 med settings and 6 low settings.  it sued up so much cpu  on the new computer

been a yr. but i think  after i uninstalled java and put in an older one. plus all windows updates it started being fine.  and i can put on 3 clients med settings.  only 3 low too. but i think its cus my vid card is intel and intergraded ;-(   but i have 2 up now and cpu under 10% each  and just over 1mb ram each

Well, I updated Java last week, but that didn't effect the cpu usage at all. And this is from just 1 client btw... Running 2 even on minimum settings causes horrible lag, in-game and causes the computer to freeze every minute or so...

Mine currently sits at around 880MB of ram trough 11% load on CPU (6 core, core No5 runs at 60% load,(3.6ghz each))

Thats pretty much everything except shadows and tile decoration maxed out so 88% is really odd unless a really old CPU or really overheating or something.

Well it's by no means a high end cpu lol, so 40% was understandable, but 80+% is way too much, unless my cpu was from the 80's (which it isn't lol)

wurm is a cpu/gpu/ram intense game.

but the setup you got there looks quite abit old and should need an upgrade anyway.

i pretty much always have over 1gig on my main wurm window and and about 4-5% cpu load per unit.

what are you computer specs?

Did one of your corse lock up or something? Checking with google thats a dual core - Wurm does not have multi-core support so one can only run 1 core on wurm. 88% usage of cpu only makes sence if your task manages messed up and is showing only load on 1 core as opposed to both (both would be 44%ish) Or something is up on Core 2.

Nope, I used another program too, shows the exact same as task manager, both cores working fine... both have high cpu usage though

From the late 90s you mean hah. Anything from the 80s wouldn't come remotely close to booting up wurm.

I got on one of my computers an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 OCed from 1.86 ghz to 2.8 ghz getting it in the E6600 range - wurm is using between 49% and 98% (49% means basically maxing out one core)

Meh, same difference lol

The reason it maxes out one core: Higher FPS

Want it to use less CPU, enable the FPS limiter and limit it to less than your usual max FPS.

35fps tends to be decent... personally I limit mine at 50, which truth be told is far more than I really need.

I keep mine at 60 for my main.

Should mention that I've actually had an issue myself a few times where all cores lock up at 80-100%, which can only be solved by killing the process (that is, if I can even reach the task manager). That only happens very rarely however.

Speaking of frames per second... watching the Hobbit at 48fps on a massive highend 3D Imax screen is simply glorious:

Oh and the sound system...

Viva Las Vegas!

EDIT:  Same theater made the opening scene to Legend of Hercules promising... at first... man what a train wreck of a movie. Shame really, the opening was good.

Max fps is like 15... 50+ in mines.

and I rarely ever have shadows on, clearly I don't have them on anymore.

I have a quad core AMD FX-4100 (3.6 GHz), 8gb ram, GeForce 550 Ti (1024mb) graphic card. The Processor overheats, despite using lowest settings, with FPS at lowest possible (30)
