Posted February 1, 2014 This is the 2nd weekend in a row I've lost a whole daytime playing due to the log in servers being down. That is completely lost money on 6 premium accounts that can't be played during what are the best free hours I have to play the game. As much as I like the various updates and new features I have to strongly suggest that it would be MUCH better to concentrate first on making the game stable so that people can play - after all - if you can't even play then it doesn't matter what's in the game. I totally understand that things can, and do go wrong sometimes, but by now there is an awful repetitiveness that is especially frustrating to those of us in timezones who usually play while Europe sleeps. Today for instance we knew from the get go we would lose at least 5 or 6 hours simply because no one was awake to restart it. Please, please, could someone fix whatever issues are needed to be fixed to make the game more stable - and on a higher priority than just adding more features while original bugs aren't addressed. Posted February 1, 2014 Not having a login server is one of the upcoming 1.2 features of Wurm.
Posted February 1, 2014 OMG! This is so not funny....over 7 hours with not a word about what is going on. Time zones should not be an issue, just an excuse!
Posted February 1, 2014 Some backup protocol, someone who wasn't European, who could restart the login server if it went down seems rather sensible. This is kinda crazy.
Posted February 1, 2014 If you want people to stay with your game, it needs to be stable and accessible. Anything less than that means your retention of paying customers is not going to be as high as it could be. This needs to be FIXED. Find better providers if the issues are ISPs or routing stations. Make the game stable and accessible.
Posted February 1, 2014 id have to agree many of us spend $100 of dollars each month and we deserve to be able to access a game we pay for without issues. the stability of the servers needs to be addressed before you continue to add all these extra features in the game, otherwise you will start to lose customers, or at least players like myself will start spending less on the game because i am not able to access it especially during the only time of the week i'm able to play. a permanent fix needs to be formed and soon. Posted February 1, 2014 why is only one man able to fix the problem? Where is the team? If you can't trust the team to fix and delegate tasks then not much can happen. No offense to the guy but if Rolf is the only person that can fix/restart a server, that is a single point of failure. The cost of the game went up, the service went down. My sleep bonus is full so that will do nothing. Id rather just have a working game and that means more then one guy able to do tasks. Like I said, I don't know the man but he is serious about the game? Is it trust issues? Why can no one do something without him? You got to be able to trust the team. Counterintuitive imho. Pay more, get less...
Posted February 1, 2014 Ive got to agree and giving sleep bonus as com isent good enouth i would sooner have the hours lost added to my premium time

Posted February 1, 2014 Pff.......... still login servers down? I am waiting for hours now , like you all do. One i know is for certain, i never buy premum or silver again in this fragile game, unless they fix this. When this isnt solved and my premium is over , ill quit the game. Its to bad, because i like it very much. Would be a shame to leave this behind after 10 months of playing. Please fix this. U gonna loose players, like this way. Good luck with solving this problem. Posted February 2, 2014 And now just a day later.....yet another login server issue. Surely this needs to be the first priority to fix?
Posted February 2, 2014 It's clear that everyone, even devs, think this is a big issue and needs to be fixed very quickly. Nothing you say or add to that will speed up the fixing process.Complaining about it or suggesting to have them fix it doesn't change anything because they're already on it. Issues don't suddenly get fixed when someone looks at it or becomes higher priority
Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) You seem to be talking as if this is a new issue that has only suddenly started happening. I get that the present cause may well be different from previous causes.I get that unforeseen things can happen. But if it's really a "big issue that needs to be fixed very quickly", how come it's been happening at least as long as I have personally been playing, and I'm told for years before that as well? What I'm suggesting is that the game stability is probably much more important to many than other factors. Maybe we have a different definition of "very quickly", and tbh I'm not even sure how possible or not that is. But I do know something. I enjoy this game and wish to keep playing it. If it fails I will lose something too so I certainly don't want that. Every time any game breaks and becomes unavailable for whatever reason - guess what - people go play other stuff. That's bad for business. It's not rocket science. And yes - I do realize that the devs also know this already, but it unfortunately leads to one of 2 conclusions. Either new code implementation is continually creating unforeseen problems that especially impact non- European timezones because when the problems shut servers down no one who can is awake to fix them - or, some structural arrangement, or deep rooted old issue (like memory leakage for example) is proving too hard to find to permanently correct. I have no idea what it is - it could also be something completely different. What I do know though is from 11am my time yesterday until 9pm - on a Saturday - I could not log in to play. The Saturday before the same issue lasted 5-6 hours. The weekend before that there were also issues. And now today (Sunday) - thankfully only for an hour or so again. But yes - thanks for attempting to belittle me for suggesting that many of us are more interested in game stability than new features. New features are great, and everyone would like them too I bet. But the first thing everyone wants is stability. Whether it's possible to get it I don't know. But I'm strongly suggesting that's what's needed. Posted February 2, 2014 Every time any game breaks and becomes unavailable for whatever reason - guess what - people go play other stuff. That's bad for business. It's not rocket science. See that's my point. It's not rocket science, everyone knows this already. Rolf also knows that this is a really big issue, and obviously doesn't want this to happen, so he must do something about it. But if I were to say "Come on Rolf, fix this already!", that's not going to change anything at all. This is different from other bugs. For example, there might be a game mechanic bug that really annoys me, but hasn't been fixed. If would say 'I hope this gets fixed soon', that might get a dev's attention to the issue, because the bug might have gone unnoticed. New features are great, and everyone would like them too I bet. But the first thing everyone wants is stability. Different devs work on different things. Rolf likely has a general knowledge of everything in the code, while a newer dev might only have experience with certain in game features. This means you can't just have every dev focus on one very specific problem (not to mention that throwing more people at a problem doesn't necessarily lead to faster results). So while some devs figure out what's wrong, other devs might still be working on new features.
Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) Isn't the problem obviously having one login server which has to wait for Rolf to wake up to be reset? Edit: Just to add, this isn't a new problem. Edited February 2, 2014 by FreeTineen
Posted February 3, 2014 It's not like im bothering it to much i just play other games while its down. But if this keeps going for another month or so people are going to be mad. As far as i know i did not got any SB from the last 2 weeks of crashes etc etc.
