Posted January 30, 2014 I fixed this (badly). But this is a way you could make these new textures look slightly less bad. Or you could take the original texture and add some kind of crossbeam supported by 45 degree angled corners or something if you want to spruce up that texture. But currently, I think the general consensus is that people don't like the new texture.
Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) That would drive me nuts more lol!!! How come there is nothing at the corners of the blocks or supporting the ceiling is my question....... It just seems like some graphic pasted on the entire block from the water to top of the column??? As those metal pieces dont seem to be the same from the ceiling in any picture. Posted January 31, 2014 Well, that's probably how the old texture was, but it was simpler so you didn't notice that it was just tiled upwards. Yeah I prefer the wood on the edges of the texture as well, it just looks so much better and makes more sense. If they wanted two beams on each block they could have simply added another beam in the middle of the texture. Does anyone have a copy of the old texture? I want to see if I can edit it and submit something better
Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) These are just suggestions that I threw together in GIMP in like ten minutes each (the OP and this one) so don't think I'm implying these actual textures should be used...just making suggestions of "styles" they could use to enhance reinforced walls without making them look crappy. Here's another example I made using three images from google:And here's a perspective-ish image of it in use, this is not from Wurm, just made up to give you an idea of what it would look like:These images somewhat reflect what a real reinforced mine looks like. Posted January 31, 2014 Lego Rock Raiders, that was a pretty fun game. Never did beat it though, last mission was too tough.

Posted February 1, 2014 I am not liking this new support beam artwork either. In comparison to the old it is too obtrusive looking on the walls. The old support beams were thin, color blended in with the stone walls and off to the sides, which effect made them apparent as being reinforced but did not overpower the stone walls themselves. I suppose with this new look the Dev's had the idea to make reinforcements more true to RL applications within mines but as has been shown by this artwork, that is not always the best approach to take. Unfortunately when new artwork is objectionable such as this, it is rarely reverted to its original design, so I don't hold out much hope for that happening. Still, this is not any improvement upon it, from my viewpoint. Nice try but no cigar, as the saying goes. =Ayes=

Did someone dropping acid break into your mine, and randomly nail planks together, and tar them to the wall? Simply reverting it to the old texture would be the best, IMO.
