Posted January 29, 2014 Hi, Ive bin struggling for some time now with my graphics. I got a GTX650 TI and id like to get the most best appearance out of it. When i see some of the screenshots people make its like i do things wrong. Can some one maybe help me with getting the best settings set? To have the most realistic settings. I feel like doing something wrong. Thanks.
Posted January 29, 2014 i got all on medium and get beautiful screenshots. You should also set all to medium and then make tiny adjustments to high/low + disable/enable.
Posted January 29, 2014 It's pretty much trial and error. I suggest you set render distances to medium while maxing out everything else and checking what works and not.
Posted January 29, 2014 Also make sure Antialiasing is set to at least 2. This is a resource hungry setting so don't go over board with it. If you set it to 2 it should be enough.
Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) You need to play around with the settings a bit to find something that works. Raising all settings and then working your way down is one way of doing it. Tune shadows and amount of reflections down a bit. If you really need it lower the render distances as well but I would turn shadows off altogether before resorting to that. Antialiasing can be a performance drain so I usually leave that off. Edited January 29, 2014 by EliasTheCrimson
Posted January 30, 2014 It'd be nice if we had the option of submitting our settings to the devteam via the client, they could then parse the data and seperate settings by video card and actually auto-configure settings for us. All we'd have to do is then tweek up or down... no hour of adjusting, relogging, etc.

I disable that in every possible game, always adds a few good extra FPS.
Posted January 30, 2014 Well, i know a GTX650 is a good videocard. But i really like realistic i have no *BEEEEP* clue what anti analising means or what it does. Also, do some of the advanced graphics need to be disabled? since i dont want to miss out shadows etc. but for some reason they dont always are working. Posted January 30, 2014 Anti aliasing smooths out lines that are on a diagonal so they don't look all pixelated. Now a days most games have AA on as a default.
Posted January 30, 2014 Yes, oh ima check that. Thanks McGarnicle. Im gonna try some things later. Is there a way to save settings in a file to switch?
Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) AA makes a huge difference in how good the game looks I think. I keep it at 2-4. Render distance, I like high settings for this in Wurm, so many nice views to be had What I turn off is shadows, it's the single most expensive thing you can turn on. You can also save some by reducing reflecion quality for water. But shadows is the difference between just being able to run one client with ok fps and being able to run 3 clients with high fps. It does look better with shadows on, sure, but they just cost too much. And if you compare shadows in wurm with shadows in other more modern games they are not even close in quality even on highest settings. For me they seem to draw loads of both CPU and GPU power, more so than much better looking shadows in other games. Lastly, there is Texture quality, putting this on highest setting can slow down loading alot, which makes the game lag when you move around, especially in crowded areas. I keep it at next to highest, but I think this one could be put on highest if you have a really good graphics card with lots of memory. Posted January 30, 2014 I can handle 2 clients on medium/normal settings quite alright with render distance medium. But i sometimes like to make screenshots etc and i do miss some things. But i know when i use FXAA in some games you see a grealtly improvement since its so darn beautifulll..I just feel like there are so many options and only a couple are used by most. And not every option is really clear to what to do with it. Like what is the difference @ advanced graphics with Core/Extension? Core has to do with CPU i believe but extension? Is that GPU?
Posted January 30, 2014 Another thing to consider is glsl shaders. This setting seems to lag my system a lot but when its turned off, the water reflections go away making the water look terrible.

The compatibility options should only need tweaking if you're experiencing problems related to your hardware, like an AMD or Intel graphics. "Core" refers to support of specific features, not to any processor cores. If you're not having specific errors like messed up textures you should leave those settings alone as they won't improve the graphics under normal circumstances. By the way, some graphics options have tooltips that will display if you hover the cursor over them. Edited January 30, 2014 by EliasTheCrimson

All we'd have to do is then tweek up or down... no hour of adjusting, relogging, etc. Unfortunately, not only are there many different video cards in use, including those who play on integrated graphics cards, but there are spec variances within manufacturers of a particular card. One mans GTX 650 can be 20% better than another's, simply because of the manufacturer. Then, there's the matter of those of us who quadbox+, running lots of clients at once. Auto-configured settings would be pointless for anyone with more than a pair of clients, since the drain is exponential ^^;

Would 3D settings make collouring also better? Since i sometimes feel like im doing something wrong if i see other screenshots. Ill try to make one today to let you guys see if the settings are good or not. I got a AMD Phenom 2 X6 2,6Ghz CPU btw. Nothing speciall either
Posted February 6, 2014 Hi guys. Ive bin messing with my 3D settings and yes i see alot of improvement. Only problem i got left is: My grass looks like its bin trown on the ground and ugly as hell?As i can remember before winter it was nice and flowing through the wind. Any one can help me?
Posted February 7, 2014 Not sure what you mean, do you have screenshots? In the winter a lot of the grass sprites disappear and the tiles look flat. They're meant to look as if most of the grass is pressed flat underneath the snow.
Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) Its not winter its spring. Its like you see a flat surface and just stripes of grass on it. I can make a screenshot when i get home.*Also ive bin playing for over 2 year's i know how tiles look like.( Just a notice) Edited February 7, 2014 by Devily
