Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) Since we can forage for sprouts for the new trees, why not add the old trees and bushes as well?Would make reforesting that much easier, since many times you don't get enough sprouts to replace what you cut (specially if you cut overaged). Would make it a bit easier to get noble woods (willow and oak). And since the advent of hedges the demand for sprouts is a bit bigger, so this might be a good alternative for finding them. Of course there could be a few tweaks, like making oak and willow a bit less frequent, or make it more likely to find a certain kind of sprout within a certain radius of that tree/bush. Posted January 25, 2014 getting more sprouts from foraging would be a bit annoying where atm it feels just right. So unless it just depends on what your by, with the same chance as it is currently, I'd be against it. Also, you can get many, many, more sprouts then what you cut - if your actually planting the trees anyway and not going to a random forest.
Posted January 25, 2014 Chance fo sprouts could remain the same, just more sprouts on the sprout pool.Plus at 20 foraging you can choose what to pick, also except for sprouts what do you forage for? Hazelnuts? And i'd really like to know how do you "pick much more than you cut", unless you mean if you do daily rounds picking sprouts before cutting the trees, whicn "ain't nobody got time fo that". Posted January 25, 2014 I'm a forester/gardener/forager/botonizer...... >_< Mainly just forage for the level, but I use it to also get things to tame for, and frankly I don't see why foraging would lead to a lot of sprouts, but that's just me. If there on the same pool as you said, big +1. Don't see why not. And I don't do daily routes, but I do go and pick a lot of sprouts before I cut, I always manage to stay far ahead before I go and cut down 200-300 trees. I guess it just comes from foresting. Posted January 25, 2014 Hrm kinda got the feeling the sprouts for new trees was a way to introduce the new trees without resetting the maps.Havent been entirely sure if the sprouts will be removed at some point. Granted its unlikely based on past experience, and then again based on past experiences... who knows really

Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) I don't think you should be able to forage any sprouts now that the new trees have been found and planted. I think they were made so we could forage them because there were none around at first. Basically.... sure you could make all trees able to be foraged, but I think the traditional way of finding the trees and getting the sprouts from the tree is better and it makes players look for trees rather than forage some tiles any where to find oak, willow, etc... Maybe you could have it so you could forage within the tiles touching the trees for that type of sprout. Edited January 25, 2014 by Protunia

Posted January 25, 2014 -1 .. I actually think, that it is time to remove the sprouts from foraging.. they have played their role. Let sprouts be foresters business as it should be.

Posted January 25, 2014 -1 What is forestry for then ? To care for the trees? Prune them and such, and nothing would prevent you from finding sprouts on trees, would just be an alternative. pls get to work and use ur sickle, we dont need this, enormous -1 When i arrived where i live there were exactly 3 pine trees in a 50 tile radius. Now there's forests. So please, stfu.
Posted January 26, 2014 Foraging for oak and willow sprouts is something I would not like to see added. Pine, maple, and some of the others, sure, maybe bushes too, but definitely don't think oak and willow should be foragable. Would just leave it as is. If anything, I agree, take all sprouts out of foraging. It made sense to have them there to add a lot of them to the world, but now that they are actually out and about, they will spread. So please, stfu.3 pines is enuf in a 50 tile radius to make that entire area a forest in a month or 2, u seem extremely lazy and care about the wrong things

I don't see why those shouldn't be foragable. Of all types i think it would be the most likely to be foragable. Because they grow so slow. A few years back some random noob (well not a noob, cause he left behind a ql 50 felled tree) decided to cut all the ornamental trees in my perimeter, in other words all the oaks and willows. He didn't even bother to chop it up and take it, simply vandalizing it. At the time we couldn't store sporuts, and all my oaks were on the perimeter, so basically i had to go back to walk back halfway across the server width to go to where i had collected those sprouts in the first place so i could replant them back. As i see it the rarer the tree the most sense it makes that it should be foragable. But yeah, what i'm saying is, if they aren't removing the sprouts from foraging, at least add the other sprout types. If they see best to remove them, then ok. Also someone who already has the trees would find it easier to get the sprouts directly from the tree than foraging for god knows how long to find the tree type they want, so this wouldn't compete with forestry, but be a complementary option. Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) Remove the new trees from foraging. I'm tired of getting sprouts when I'd rather be getting something I actually want. If I want sprouts, I can use my sickle for them tyvm. Also, its way too easy to get sprouts from foraging, so the new trees are actually overpopulating the old ones now... Also, its way too easy to get sprouts from foraging, so the new trees are actually overpopulating the old ones now... I'm really curious, what is it you farm for with foraging? And if you forage those so much, you should have the ability to pick what you want to forage (unless you want hazelnuts or branches). If you're foraging for skill, what does it matter what you're getting? Its a genuine question this, because as far as i see it foraging is useless after your first few days of playing (this would actually give it some usefulness). Except for hazelnuts (which don't have any specific use) and berries (which can be replaced with fruit from trees or farmed strawberries) everything else is either starting material for early playing (basically seeds for farming) or stuff you use when you went to take a bath naked and the bullies stole your clothes. So except for the sake of leveling a skill, what do you use forage for?
