Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) Can one abuse the starting deeds by planting and locking BSBs, FSBs and large chests and benefit of deed protection mechanics (no one being able to pick/open/push/pull, lower decay, etc)? Is this possible? Is this safe? If yes, are there any rules against it? Also, as an alternative, what about using an abandoned (inactive) deed for the same purpose? The purpose of this would be to have a safe storage place, noone but you can access, for the case you don't live on a deed. Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) Not your deed = You have no control what will happen to those items.Just make own 2x2 house and keep everything you need inside of it, they will all be safe as long as house is up. Edited January 23, 2014 by silakka

Posted January 23, 2014 I'm not sure what purpose that would serve, as soon as you walk 5 tiles away from it you forfeit ownership protection, and would gain nothing from doing so. But I imagine in a case like that, a GM could be called to clean it up and it might reflect poorly on you, so I would say, possible, unsafe, and shouldn't be allowed
Posted January 23, 2014 I thought that since it is "on deed" noone else but the person that dropped an item and the deed owner can pick it up, so theoretically I think that noone else than you and the deed owner (which is noone in case of starting deeds and an inactive person in case of an abandoned deed) could open the bsb, pick up the things, etc. For anyone else, I think it would appear as "stealing" since it is on a deed. The purpose would be to have a secured storing place, since I don't own a deed.

And I do have permissions to pick up items in indy start deed/spawn, so not a good idea to leave your items there
Posted January 23, 2014 Dropping an item on deed allows you to pick it up if you stay within proximity, if you log, or if you walk more than 5-10 tiles away, you no longer have proximity ownership and thus wont be able to pick it up

Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) Permissions on starter deeds are controlled by GMs (who are in turn monitored). Overall when it comes to starter deeds, any player has the same access rights as any other player. Edited January 24, 2014 by Klaa
Posted January 24, 2014 Bulk bins can be destroyed on deed by the mayor (and citizens too, if permissions are set properly). Doesn't matter who the creator or owner is, doesn't matter if the bulk bin is full or empty, or even if it's locked or not. If the bulk bin gets destroyed, so do all of the items inside of it.
