Posted January 22, 2014 FOGI would like to suggest you eliminate it from the game entirely, it wastes game time that some of us have paid for, as you cannot do much of anything until it is gone. Yes.. real life fog is annoying and limits you ... but this is a game. Just a thought, and I know many people who also hate the fog as much as I do, I am not alone in this, it is useless. Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) I love fogbest screenshots come from foggy days <3and there is nothing like sailing in fog for 3hours across the servers =)adds something really special to this game. Edited January 22, 2014 by silakka
Posted January 22, 2014 funny Silakka, you are the one I expected to say that fog is good... I have also sailed in fog for three hours .. lost and totally frustrated, and the specialness it adds .. is wasted time and annoyance
Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) Only thing i can say about fog is make it less intense, but do not remove it entirely. I do hate fog too, i had to get a corbita out of rc2 in jkh to affliction a few months back and the fog was so thick i could only see one tile infront of me, it took 5-6 hours to get across the server as i could not see where i was going. It made me mad, but was also an experience that not many games give and this is why i like wurm, because it's so rich in emotional reactions. (and not in a troll sense ^ ) Edited January 22, 2014 by Thrrim
Posted January 22, 2014 I would even take that... but as it is .. ugh
Posted January 22, 2014 perhaps fog would be better as 80% light fog, 15% heavy fog, 5% pea soup ?
Posted January 22, 2014 It needs to be made denser and it needs more pirate ghosts
Posted January 22, 2014 You tell me. Tbh I'm only serious if it involves a wall of text.
Posted January 22, 2014 -1. Fog is good addition to the game, sometimes it can be frustrating. almost ragequit few times after almost dying while travelling in fog (heavy lag)
Posted January 22, 2014 I'd say it should have different degrees, and the extremely dense, nearly impossible to see fog should be less common, maybe 1/4 as likely to show. Also, and option to just turn it off in the settings, for those who it really makes go crazy.
Posted January 22, 2014 If I hit fog and am not at least 90% sure that I can still keep going without getting lost I just right click the boat and moor it. Unless you're in a sticky situation (e.g. dangerous place on a PvP server) then I'd recommend that you do the same. Waiting out the fog and not getting lost is a lot quicker than trying to keep going and getting catastrophically lost. Carrying a compass helps too in fog, makes getting disoriented harder ^^
Posted January 22, 2014 funny Silakka, you are the one I expected to say that fog is good... I have also sailed in fog for three hours .. lost and totally frustrated, and the specialness it adds .. is wasted time and annoyance If fogs lasted as long as winter, then it would be a problem. But fog comes on very rare occasions and you just need to learn to deal with it. Instead of hating it, try to find a way to love it Fog is a good test for your navigating skills, take the chance and press W to go forward!
Posted January 22, 2014 funny Silakka, you are the one I expected to say that fog is good... I have also sailed in fog for three hours .. lost and totally frustrated, and the specialness it adds .. is wasted time and annoyanceTry wasting 10 hours doing it... Twice. With that said, I hate fog, but I want it to stay in the game. It's a actual annoyance that makes sense, and makes me have to try and figure out how to coordinate where I'm going, that's the entire point of it Imo.For once, I actually have to say it's also somewhat realistic (I hate being on this bandwagon!) when it happens in real life, you have to slow down a bit to make sure you don't get into a wreck if your driving, or if your hiking in a forest you really gotta pay attention where north/south is and where your headed, ect.Fog is a good thing, it's actually a "PVE" element, one of very few we actually do have. With that said, if hate to see it removed - as it also makes wurm that much more unique.
Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) The fog already varies in density and length of time... Some say theres too much fog.Yee I say to you theres not enough fog! More weather elements that impact gameplay! Temperature stats! EDIT: There are those of us who sail just fine even in zero visibility Edited January 22, 2014 by Klaa
Posted January 22, 2014 I don't mind the fog, have to say sometimes you can't see anything through it though, just don't make it too intense and all is fine.
Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) -1 Make it more often and worse I say!! Plus 100% I <3 Fog Spideys!!! Edited January 22, 2014 by Protunia
Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) -1. It's part of the survival experience. Got caught outside your home in dense fog? Excellent, the game just got twice as exciting; putting your wits and navigational skills to the test. Though I would prefer if it was tweaked to occur more often but with less density. Besides, fog makes Wurm look absolutely beautiful. Edited January 22, 2014 by EliasTheCrimson
Posted January 22, 2014 Fog has saved my life more than once in this game, its a great mechanic, annoying at times, but it does make the game a lot more interesting. They just need lighthouses and hazard buoys to keep me from grounding out on landbridges/shallows in deep fog
Posted January 22, 2014 It can be frustrating at times, but to be honest it's usually the only exciting thing that happens while you're out sailing. -1 I like it
Posted January 22, 2014 I'm all for removing all weather effects. From my personal experience, they're just resource hogs... and, besides, there's nothing immersive for me about snow/rain/fog coming through my roof.I understand people like it, i'm just not one of them.
