Additional Taming Information

Recommended Posts

I've been doing a lot of taming and found a Young Champion Black Bear. The wiki has no suggestion for a taming level, so I did my own testing. Animal Taming skill of 40 was able to tame the bear on the first try, but the bear is at the 'upset' status. I'm estimating a skill of 45 is probably a good suggestion for Champion Black Bears. I will post again here if I find any more information on taming. c:

Got my taming skill to 45! First two tries failed, but on the third my bear was tamed and submissive! c: 45 is a great recommendation for a Champion Black Bear.

It would be best to do this in bulk, gather up tons of animals, and start spamming. On epic this is particularly easy with the curve, as at around 50 AT, I still can't tame a champion unicorn, which was shown to be 75, and there seems to be no chance in sight.

Champion unicorns are supposedly around 90 effective skill, maybe more. Same for champion crocodiles.

The age of a creature affects the chance to tame it considerably. At 55 skill I could tame an adolescent hell horse after 3-6 tries, but I kept failing when I tried to tame a venerable one.

I also noticed today my champion black bear always failed to tame with meals but tamed quite easily with cooked filets.

Hmm.. My Champion black bear aged to mature and I cannot tame her anymore! Might want to change the wiki to say 45 skill for an Adolescent Champion Black Bear. I haven't had time to grind taming lately because of the next update with wagons coming up! I've been grinding Fine Carpentry. c: I will still be trying to find out the skill curve for age on Champion black bears though~ I will post the information as my bear ages.
