6th Year of No Wurm! Some tips for those wanting to quit.

Recommended Posts

Going to make this years post a short one , but yes, I made another year of not playing the game and even staying more and more away from the forums than ever before ^_^ (having kids do help ) .

I don't want people to just quit Wurm for the sake of quitting (I would love wurm to succeed at the same levels as minecraft) , however if someone feels they have problems with playing way too much and think they are addicted to the game , then this might help :

*I personally got my main character banned from the game , but before that happened I probably went down from 6 - 12 ish hours a day to 3-4 hours a day. If you want to quit you should try to gradually decrease the time you play.

*Caring about the people you met here is something that also kept me pinned, the good thing is that with Facebook, messenger  , Irc and so on you can still keep in touch with those that you care about and it's easier to leave.

*Talk with someone about your addiction , it helps pinpoint the problem and realize if you are wasting your time. If you can't leave the game when a loved one needs you or wants to talk with you I'd say you have a problem.

Not much more to add , I guess other people that have been able to escape might contribute as well if they still watch the forums.

So , yes this is my last post!

Take Care.

I see absolutely no point in this thread. It also seems that you have no severed ties with Wurm, as you are still here.

If you quit, why do you still keep an eye on the forums or care if it becomes wildly popular like minecraft?

It sort of sounds like wurm was everything you wanted (hence the addiction) minus the player base.

I could be wrong, and if I am.. And you are just here to maybe throw a bone to anyone seriously dealing with addiction issues then I commend you. Even though there is a lot of sarcasm and negativity, it does happen.

Am I reading that right 6 yrs of not playing? If so who cares....

Your missing out on a ton of improvements and a growing community. Addicting. Yup not a game to me at all. It's a hobby. I put all the fast food money into the game instead lost weight this yr sitting on my butt playing wurm over fifty hrs a week.

Love or hate the game it's up to you. But to come back an brag about not playing . Really really.

Oh and having kids grats. But I play wurm cus I have kids easiest game to walk away randomly to chase kids down. Played dark fall before that not agame to try to play with kids to watch .

Still really. Come here to kinda say great game but if u want to quit get banned... I got to stop got to go yell at my workers instead. I don't like getting mean in posts but... Really!

it helps pinpoint the problem and realize if you are wasting your time.

I realize I am wasting my time all day long.

Any second spent watching television is a time waster. Commuting to work is a time waster. Listening to any story a customer at work tells me is a time waster. The internet is a time waster. Sleeping is a time waster...

You know what's also a big time waster? Corresponding on the forums of a game you supposedly haven't played in 6 years.

Is the OP trying to get us all to quit Wurm or what is the point of this thread? Could be worthy of a lock?

Was it for this i uttered prayers,

And sobbed and cursed and Kicked the stairs,

That now, domestic as a plate,

I should retire at half-past eight?

Is this thread to help the addicts?

People will just replace their wurm addiction with a worse addiction, dont do it!

Wow.  Wurm has been around for more than six years?

And I totally agree with validate about Wurm being a great game for people with kids.  As long as I'm not mid-fight with a troll or something, I can drop everything and chase down my kiddo.  It's also easy to play with kids around--I read a lot to my daughter while I was smithing away at impalong (books, not the chat logs!), and she got a huge kick out of the champion wildcat that someone (sorry, I forgot who) parked by the altars in the Smithsonian.

Game is not addictive, it is compelling. The question is not on 'how bad a game is to yourself' but more of 'why you dislike real life and how to fix it' :P

On second note.. I found it amusing that I'm so easily say that while on the opposite I have been needing to fix my real life for the past six months now.

When you have an addiction, be it gaming, porn, gambling, smoking or whatever, trying to punish yourself by completely quitting is no good. It will usually comes back later, probably as another form of addiction if not the same. The key is to keep the balance so as your life is not affected by it.

An addiction to gaming doesnt hurt, if u quit u just hurt urself.

Lol are you stupid? Any addiction is bad, a real addiction always has negative effects.

I like playing wurm, I like most say "I'm an addict" or "I can't quit" but really, I'd be surprised if there was 1 true addict out of the entire playerbase. If we really wanted to quit, we would. The reason people don't really quit wurm is because they take breaks due to being bored of the game. Some breaks at 1-2 days are long enough, sometimes a week or 2.. sometimes a few years, but that's a break. They burn themselves out of the game, everything in wurm is a grind, and it gets boring. No matter how you play. A true addict wouldn't get sick of the game, ever, they'd have severe withdrawal symptoms (and/or seperation anxieties). I personally don't know of a single player who has any real symptom of an addiction.

Main point.. An addiction is bad. Don't be an idiot.

Edit... Also, wtf your profile says you're 13 and your interests are beer... I mean, wtf seriously lol
