You now have an option in the mainmenu on testserver to access the new crafting window.


 


Drop two items into the top slots to get the creation list.


 


You can also use it for unfinished items.

you can drag items straight from a campfire into the crafting window, but it won't let you craft anything since you don't have the items on you


 


also if you have dragged a pile of 10 lumps (for example) from the campfire to the crafting window then you take those items in your inventory, it will add 1 to the amount of items (hence the window will show 11 items but there is only 10)


 


if you do the opposite and drag the lumps from your inventory into the crafting window then drop those lumps in the campfire, it duplicates the list of craftable items in the crafting window

Tried using crafting interface to create Healing Covers with ingredients tooth, gland, wemp plants, rose flower, paws and tails. No craftable items are listed in the window for any combination of ingredients.

When finishing an unfinished guard tower; The ql and weight of the unfinished tower did not up date along with the adding of items.

working really well for me. was nice to build a large cart with ease all in a crafting ui.    can't wait till in the main game. great work.

Tried using crafting interface to create Healing Covers with ingredients tooth, gland, wemp plants, rose flower, paws and tails. No craftable items are listed in the window for any combination of ingredients.

This might be because alchemy is not created, but mixed instead. (different code base, not yet included in the gui)

- Making a tool active (double clicking it in inventory) doesn't move it to a craft UI box.


- Using a tool on an item (right click) in inventory doesn't move that material to a craft UI boxe.


- Dragging new materials to a box resets the create selection. Brick making is a good example of this. Even know some rock is still there adding more rock to the box resets the selection.


- Clicking an item in the recipes section category does not load things from inventory into the craft UI boxes.


 


Note, I'm not smart enough to second guess what's intended so anything that doesn't function how I think it should is a bug.

- Continue actions don't automatically load goods from inventory.

- Repair keybind doesn't work on either of the two loaded item icons.

- Combining items with UI's combine button resets the current create item selection. 

- Making the item active in inventory, which is in craft UI box, and using inventory combine to add other items to that bundle removes it from craft UI (make item active and choose combine on any other).

- A Group of items dragged to UI don't update when you add more to inventory. Say you drag a pile of logs into UI, adding more logs to that group in inventory doesn't update the stack in craft UI.

 


Note, I'm not smart enough to second guess what's intended so anything that doesn't function how I think it should is a bug.

I've been testing the crafting window, and must say overall, good job!.  There is one thing I noticed while testing and that is that the "item left to add" window to the immediate right of the crafting interface doesn't seem to update until all of that particular item has been added.


 


While building a BSB for example, it shows 24 planks and 4 nails needed to complete.  As I add planks to the unfinished BSB, I would expect that the materials needed to complete would update as I went, but it continues to show 24 planks until the last plank is added, at that time the 24 planks disappear from the needed materials and only 4 nails are shown.

when you drag items in the crafting window and those items can't be combined, the combine icon should turn grey and you shouldn't be able to click it


 


when you get out of range to continue an item and click continue with 1/3 action, it turns 1 bubble orange but it doesn't turn back even though the action never started. doing this again turns a second bubble orange then another... (there is some more bugs after this regarding orange bubbles but i guess they result from this bug)


 


when using wooden items, the crafting window doesn't show their wood type


 


About the bug KidCurry posted: it happens if you continue an item the old way (right click on the unfinished item, then "continue building") while your crafting window is open. The window doesn't update in that case, but if you use the continue option from the window then it updates. It updates if you modify something in the crafting window too.

It's unfortunate there's no easy way to get around the issue with non-combinable items that don't get totally used up. If you end up with items that "don't contain enough material" at the top of a big stack the only way to fix that is to re-drag items. Kinda wish it just automatically attempted on those parts that have enough material first.


 


Sorry this isn't really a "bug" but I thought I'd mention it in case it is worth considering.

If you end up with items that "don't contain enough material" at the top of a big stack the only way to fix that is to re-drag items. Kinda wish it just automatically attempted on those parts that have enough material first.

There are another way to remove it. You can right click the stack in the crafting window and click remove, that will only remove the first item in the stack.

When you try and use large anvil with crafting window you get 'You may only use that item while it is on the ground' and I think that should probably be changed otherwise nothing using large anvil can use the crafting window

Drop the anvil on the ground and select the context option 'Add to crafting window'

-action's stacked are not all done, like u stack 3 actions and it does first two then it stops, that's when u select to do 1 action at a time and press the button 3 times

Crashed when I clicked on the "recipes" button while a "level ground" action was processing.

 

 

I have update the test client to  3.26-5640a please try that.

The categories of both the creation window and the crafting recipes list were changed, they now have more categories, and they match eachother. This change will also affect the old creation system.


Items that you lack the skill for are now listed in red in the creation window.


The creation list now shows skill in a separate column.


Double-clicking a craftable item in the crafting recipes list will search for that item. Double-clicking a non-craftable item will open up a new window. This will generate an error for now as it's not finished yet.


What's this? has been added to the context menu in the crafting recipes list

Only thing I see wrong with the Crafting ui is the fact you can't right click or double tap left mouse button to add items to the crafting window.


Maybe a future add on to the system but not a game breaker.


 


One thing I noticed was depending what is in what crafting slot at the top some times when you click item and click add to crafting menu it some times will added the object to the right  side slot. The main object should always be on the left side slot and extra materials being added on the right side.


 


I've tested bugs above that where reported but I don't see any of them as bugs seeing you have to do the same thing the old way of crafting.


 


All I can see so far are suggestions to make it better. So One I will add would be a component's slots or the ability for the crafting ui to look in your main Inventory and auto add items needed for the object being crafted to eliminate the dragging of ever item used to the slot.

will we be able to improve items in the crafting window? tools, walls ,carts?
