Light System Test

The current test client has a new light system that needs to be tested (http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient_test.jnlp)


 

I'm looking for things such as:

Java crashes

Client crashes

Client lockups

Fps issues

Lights not working as expected

Shadows not working as expected

Transparency issues

Items or structures not rendering as expected

Lantern model blocks light

 

Drink water at the well near the startpoint of testserver 002 to receive some lanterns and fuel.

Please add the contents of your console.log (a file you can find in the Wurm folder) when posting bugs. Also include screenshots when it's a visual bug.

 

 

Known issues:

Transparency on items doesn't work in caves Fixed

Transparency on distant houses is black Fixed

No object shadows while GLSL is on

Transferring servers produces the wrong amount of lights

Fog can have a blackish colour Fixed

Distant terrain has weird shading

White and black dye are transparent or makes things invisible

Bugged grass animation

Client fps drops on certain systems when their are multiple lights (I need more reports/console.log's of this one)

Client crashes with GLSL on (5573a) Fixed

Caves not showing from the outside

Reflections smudging at screen borders

Committing suicide in a multistory house causing pbuffer crash

 

We're aware that some interface elements might not be working as expected. Those are not part of this test and can be ignored.

The new light system is far too dark. In the night you almost see nothing and if you light like 6 lanterns on one tile it gets extremely bright which is also horrible.

 

I would like it as it is now.

Way wayyyy To dark.

 

I ended up seeing almost nothing, so the game would become unplayable in the night for sure.

 

 

Also I saw people crashing alot, but with my settings I didn't get FPS drops nor crashes so it works pretty well.

The well mission now gives out torches instead of lamps, as the lamp model blocked it's own light

You don't need to pay attention to the darkness, it will all be levelled in soon.

How is the rare effect with this new system has that been tested of fixed? The way it is now the "glow" is reflected on surrounding objects over time is there any rare items around so we can see this?  I am going to log in later today and look at it but just wanted to know.

The rarity shaders leaking over to other models should be fixed.

Wow very nice from what I could see. I did get some major hangs though. I walked past the well and turned around back to where I came from and hung 2 times (complete OS freeze not just client.)

This time I never made into the game. I crashed out just a few seconds after I entered the game. I had to use xkill to close the client

Disable the shaders (GLSL) from the compatibility settings. They seem to hog the CPU for some reason. If the scenery is too complex, you won't get even 1 fps. I got the same problem regardless of the resolution. But inside a cave I managed to get 2-3 fps.

I was doing fine (30+ fps) until I set down three torches around me, then I got a severe freeze, got teleported around (might have been blind walking. I didn't press the key though) then I had some really low fps for some while then the OS froze.


 


Might have been those same three torches left there that tripped um some of you.
