I noticed the wiki does not actually have much information about fishing on it.

it is still missing data like at what fishing lv you start catching certain fish more regularly

water depth information as I discovered deeper does not mean better I will begin posting my findings here

Rod ql effects what fish you can catch a lot more than fishing skill does.

Higher ql rods can catch heavier fish.

I don't think different fish effect skillgain at all, or deeper water, though there may be a different between cavefishing and fishing outside.

Yep, rare high ql fishing poles with a great coc cast do wonders. and doing something else while fishing  makes the time fly and the boat fill up with fish.
