Disruptive Player Behaviour On Serenity And Desertion

Recommended Posts

In a team meeting today we discussed what we can do about disruptive players on reputation controlled PvP home servers. Currently those servers are Desertion and Serenity.

The idea is that the kingdom reputation value should detect disruptive and offensive behaviour from players targetting same kingdom players and deeds, and especially newbies.  We all want to avoid GM intervention in the Epic cluster and instead let the code manage disruptive behaviour usually in the form of metagaming.

However, apparently the code does not do that job well enough.

We came to the conclusion that in extreme cases where we receive repeated complaints about players metagaming and harassing other players we may go in and issue a warning. If the player does not stop these actions and start acting as part of the kingdom he has selected, he will be set to "No kingdom" with whatever consequences that has for his survival and assets such as deed ownership issued bans as per standard policy.

Playing the game bordering on outlaw is still accepted. If you don't understand what the difference between playing within the rules and metagaming on a grand scale is you should probably move away from this type of home server or stay totally legit.

The GM team investigates and decides when to take action. There will be no detailed examples for this, as cases should be few, obvious and dramatic and may differ in style a lot.

Calling on this rule as part of a metagame will be obvious and may have similar consequences.

I have changed the original post after discussion with the GM team and some consideration. We don't want to encourage this behavior but prevent it. Ending up in no kingdom could be interesting, but being banned seldom is.

Hopefully one day we come up with a better solution but for now this is what we go with.

Using an avatar of an enemy kingdom to attack / raid same kingdom deeds, kill same kingdom players / animals, loot same kingdom corpses, or any other activity against your kingdom that you are unable to accomplish on your same kingdom avatar without penalty or prevention, on a reputation controlled home server will be considered a disruptive player behavior.

note:  this amendment under review for possible wording improvement and clarification.

Using an avatar of an enemy kingdom to collect and loot gear from a raid, corpses, or combatants, is an abuse of game mechanics to remove from play the possibility of an enemy taking or retaking of items in pvp or raiding activities.  This will also be considered a disruptive player behavior.

Not limited to but examples of bypassing mechanics:

i.e.  Horde of The Summoned attacks a Jenn Kellon deed and uses a Jenn Kellon avatar to collect items from dying attackers, or the attacked deed or corpses to prevent Jenn Kellon defenders from taking the items.

i.e.  Mol Rehan attacks a Jenn Kellon deed and the Jenn Kellon defenders use a Mol Rehan avatar to collect items from play to prevent the Mol Rehan attackers from obtaining loot.
