Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) At freedom, traps are actually useless, yet there are most of the playerbase.I know it was mentioned before but allow us to use traps on mobs. At least some of them. As this skill, is unused, using traps, would increase game depth due to adding alternate way to survive in hostile enviroment. Now it looks like this... foraging in the woods -->attacked by anything than wild cat --> race towards house or guarded deed -->endChances of survival depends only on a speed not the tactics sadly. Posted August 7, 2013 Sounds great, but people using them for pvp on epic would get annoyed if a wondering wild cat set them all off.
Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) Traps used to effect mobs, but it was taken out. Traps are useless on PvP servers as well. The skill is impossible to grind at any reasonable pace; the traps require a lot of work, can be broken when setting them, are enormous, and they don't even do much at high qualities. Traps need a complete overhaul as has been suggested several times.Making traps should raise the "trap" skill and the skill they currently raise, and they should decay much more slowly. Make trap quality limited by the traps skill, and make it impossible to break a trap by planting it. Additionally, reduce the size of traps immensely. One knife trap is something like 45kg, yet requires around 10kg of stuff to make. It's entirely impractical. Quite honestly, I would never bother with them on a mob for what work is required for them in their current state. Just raise fighting skill. Posted August 7, 2013 Traps already do work on animals, actually. You have to engage them in combat and then lead them into the trap. But like Aflac said, it won't be long before you realize why nobody uses traps for hunting or even PvP.

Posted August 7, 2013 Certain traps are useful in pvp.The damage for traps is a bit wonky though, and the issue with traps is that you have to have them set up in the area only a day max before you need them set off, which isnt likely to happen.
Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) OP left out that set traps decay after a few days. Edited August 7, 2013 by Klaa
